Located at Deansgate is the well known and ever-so-popular Hilton Hotel. It is one of the tallest skyscrapers in Deansgate, offering a wonderful view of the Manchester skyline.

What we like about the Hilton is the unmistakable elegance in its ambience. The hotel oozes luxury and sports a modern, minimalist overall interior design.

As expected, their service didn’t disappoint either, as the staff was friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. Room service was always on time, and in-room facilities were replenished daily.

We also liked that they had other amenities in the hotel available for members and guests, although not much. Still, we do think that the standard fitness centre, indoor swimming pool, and multipurpose function rooms were already more than enough.

In addition to this, we noticed that they had braille elevators, large print menus, ramps, and rooms accessible to wheelchairs. We highly appreciate that their amenities and rooms are all accessible to those with disabilities.

As for their in-hotel restaurant, we found that their breakfast buffet was excellent–the quality of their ingredients was fresh, and everything was cooked very well. However, we did feel that service was a bit slow for their a-la-carte menu.

Despite this, our stay at the Hilton was still very pleasant and hassle-free! The five-star luxury hotel is popular around the world for a reason, and we completely understand why.

Next on our list is The Edwardian Manchester, occupying what was once a concert and multi-purpose hall built in the 1800s. Aside from having a beautiful view of the Manchester Town Hall clock, they’re also located in a very convenient spot.

We immediately noticed the unmistakable elegance of the Free Trade Hall’s elaborate yet beautiful architecture, contrasted by the modern interior design indoors. Although they differ quite drastically, we think it adds charm to the hotel’s overall vibe.

We like that their rooms are well decorated in neutral colours, but saw how some rooms definitely offer better views than others. If the view is what you’re going for, then we suggest booking their “city view” rooms.

We were pleased to see that The Edwardian also offers amenities fitting for a luxury hotel that can keep guests occupied even during rest days. Aside from having a fitness centre and an indoor swimming pool, we like that they also have a spa and a sauna!

In addition to this, we appreciated the hardworking staff that were eager to help in any way could. What’s even better is that some of them were even bilingual, making their services a lot easier to understand for those whose native languages are not English.

We found that their restaurant Peter Street Kitchen had an interesting combination of food being offered on the menu. Their Japanese and Mexican-influenced food was certainly not something we expected, but we enjoyed it nonetheless.

Still, despite the odd combination of Japanese and Mexican cuisine, their ingredients, as well as the overall vibe of the restaurant were nothing less than high quality. 

Overall, The Edwardian was an enjoyable experience, and we could not have been happier with how everything turned out!

Up next in the list is The Lowry Hotel, a well-known Mancunian establishment located right by the River Irwell. This hotel not only offers rooms that have a spectacular river view but is also known for being visited by many A-listers.

Upon arrival, our first impression of the hotel was that it oozes nothing but luxury. The first floor was elegantly designed and showcased numerous art pieces that change throughout the year. 

Just from the get-go, we already understood why this hotel is frequently visited and well-liked by many celebrities.

We were surprised with how much larger their rooms were compared to other hotels in Manchester, as well as their walk-in wardrobes. But what left us speechless was the awe-inspiring view of the river.

We found that their deluxe and superior rooms are about the same size, but do feel that the superior rooms offer a better view of Manchester.

Knowing that the staff is likely used to dealing with high-profile guests, we very much appreciate how kind and approachable they were. Moreover, they also had an air of professionalism that did not go unnoticed.

We liked that The Lowry had all the amenities a 5-star hotel would have, such as a fitness centre, a pool, a sauna, and a spa–a must-try for anyone visiting! We found that their services are top-notch and are enjoyed by many hotel guests.

Aside from having nice views and good service, their restaurant–The River Restaurant and Bar–contains classic dishes like roast chicken and pesto pasta that anyone and everyone can easily enjoy. 

However, if something a little more casual is up your speed, then their bar may be what you’re looking for. Their menu contains your usual bar chow, along with a plethora of drinks that pair nicely with their fried food.

We did notice that service in their restaurant was slow, as we had to ask the waiter once or twice regarding the status of our order. Despite our orders taking a bit long, we still found their food quite flavourful and worth the wait.

At the end of the day, we think that The Lowry’s good reputation for being one of the best luxury hotels in Manchester is a reputation well deserved. From its professional staff to the beautiful view of Manchester, The Lowry surely does not disappoint.

Our next luxury hotel is none other than Hotel Gotham, a bank now-turned hotel located near Piccadilly Station and Manchester Art Gallery. Aside from being conveniently near the shops of Market and King Street, the hotel offers a beautiful view of the skyline.

What we first liked about the hotel was its distinct architecture that offered a 1920s art deco feel. We found it quite grand, and were not surprised to find out that the building itself is popularly known as the “King of King’s Street”.

Upon entering, we were pleased that even the hotel interiors were also quite opulent and quite maximalist. A breath of fresh air, as many other hotels tend to sport more modern minimalistic styles.

Still, their maximalist designs were not gaudy, nor were they too much on the eyes. Their rooms were well decorated and we noticed that they even had tiny binoculars by the window to have a good look at the city below.

We appreciated that the building’s history as a bank was incorporated into the hotel’s design and overall experience. We found it charming that the bathrooms were decorated with (fake) gold bars, and the staff were dressed like bank managers.

In line with this, we also appreciated that the staff was eager, friendly, and helpful, but at the same time not too overbearing.

However, there unfortunately are no other special amenities provided by the hotel aside from the usual room service and laundry. This, we feel, could be a downside to guests, if going out and exploring the city is not within the plans for the day.

We also got to try their in-hotel restaurant Honey, which had a lovely view of Manchester right by the arched windows. Although the view was nice, we thought that both their menu and their portions were quite small.

Despite this, we found the food to be quite tasty still and enjoyable, especially their small breakfast buffet!

Ultimately, we honestly think that Hotel Gotham’s charm lies in its vibe and opulence rather than its amenities and food–a good enough experience to be among one of the best!

Another one of the best luxury hotels in Manchester is King’s Street Townhouse. Located right by the Manchester Art Gallery, this establishment is popular among Manunians for its view of the Town Hall Clock.

What we like about King’s Street Townhouse is that it sports a classy, clean, and quaint look that offers a more homely vibe that many chain hotels don’t seem to have. To add to this, no two bedrooms are the same–a feature of the hotel that we truly appreciated.

What’s more, upon finding out that the furniture and art being used in the hotel were locally commissioned by its former owner, the homely vibe started to make more sense. 

However, because the hotel is considerably smaller than most 5-star luxury hotels, rooms are fairly limited in number. Although this may be the case, we think that the effort put into decorating each room differently was a good trade-off.

We were also pleased by the variety of amenities available in the hotel–a sauna, spa, an infinity pool, and even a cinema! It is encouraged to try them all, but we recommend taking a dip in the infinity pool, as it has a brilliant view of the Town Hall Clock.

A word of warning, though: you may want to swim during less busy hours, as the swimming pool is quite small and can get crowded.

We also had no problems with the staff, as they were friendly, helpful, and accommodating–just what we’d expected!

Of course, trying their restaurant was also an enjoyable experience, as the menu in King’s Street Tavern offered crowd favourites such as shrimp scampi, and steaks. 

Aside from this, they also offer a small continental breakfast buffet in the mornings, that also make use of high-quality ingredients that are cooked to absolute perfection.

For a more homely experience, The King’s Street Tavern does not disappoint. From their well-decorated rooms to their views that overlook the Town Hall Clock, we think that this hotel is well worth the experience!
