The Alchemist has become a go-to spot for those seeking a vibrant atmosphere, extensive menu, and convenient location.

First thing that we appreciate about them is their accessibility. They’re near the Opera House and are fairly near the Manchester Crown Court tram stop.

However, their popularity can easily make it crowded, which might be tricky for those with mobility issues.

On the upside, we love that The Alchemist excels in offering a wide range of food and drinks that cater to diverse tastes.

Their menu is innovative and varied, with generous portions ensuring good value for your money.

That said, consistency can sometimes be an issue, with occasional reports of dishes not meeting expectations.

We’re also a bit iffy about the service levels. While the staff are generally helpful and willing to assist, some of our colleagues have experienced rudeness during their visit.

The Alchemist is also on the pricier side compared to other spots. While the quality of food and drinks often justifies the cost, it might not be the best option for those on a tight budget.

Overall, The Alchemist is still one of the best bars in the Quays, and we can’t help but keep coming back!

Pros

  • Located near public transportation
  • Lively atmosphere
  • Serves large portions
  • Wide range of food and drinks available

Cons

  • Long wait times
  • Records of rudeness from staff
  • Higher priced compared to other establishments

The atmosphere was good

“We came here without table reservation on a Sunday afternoon. The place is quite big, they were not busy at all. We both had a full alchemist breakfast which was nicely done from fresh ingredients. The smoking tea was fun, next time we will try some of the fancy cocktails as well. The atmosphere was good, and everything was properly cleaned, however the constantly flickering ceiling lights were a negative point for me.”

The venue is absolutely beautiful

“I finally got time to review another alchemist for my birthday as I’m usually at the media city location. The venue is absolutely beautiful and the staff for the alchemist team is always amazing. Lucy was really kind. I then even came later to see Barry and we had a really good catch up.”

Right in the heart of the Quayside, Lime Bar & Restaurant scores big with its awesome location. We love the killer view of the waterfront, which really takes the dining experience up a notch.

For those driving, there’s convenient parking near the Lowry Outlet Mall, making it easy to stop by the bar.

Now, let’s talk grub – their menus are a real treat. Sushi and chicken katsu are crowd favourites, proving Lime Bar is all about serving up a seriously tasty experience.

Plus, they offer vegan and vegetarian options, so everyone in your group will have something they love.

The overall vibe of the bar is another big win. It’s got a cool touch of history, with throwback pics of local rock legends from the ’90s and late ’80s, adding a nostalgic and inviting atmosphere.

But, you know how it goes: every gem has its quirks. While our experience was stellar, some patrons we spoke with have mentioned that a few staff members can be a bit rude, which could dampen the experience.

Pros

  • Wide range of menu offerings
  • Affordable prices
  • Offers online reservations

Cons

  • Limited seating space
  • Inconsistent service quality

This place is a little gem

“This place is a little gem.

Great atmosphere with quality food and service, seasonal menus but highly recommended.”

Amazing restaurant

“Amazing restaurant and would definitely go back again!! Quality of food was great, everything cooked to perfection and portion sizes were really good too. Service was really good, especially for a busy Saturday evening. Ambience was lovely, we sat in the glass room, needed to put the heaters on but it was warm enough. Thanks to the amazing team, it was a great experience”

11 Central has quickly become a favourite spot for us when we’re looking for a lively atmosphere, a diverse menu, and a welcoming vibe.

We love that they have a variety of appetisers, main courses, desserts, and a great selection of drinks. This extensive menu means they can cater to a variety of tastes and preferences.

Additionally, the staff are super attentive and professional, which adds to the positive experience and keeps people coming back.

However, we did notice a couple of downsides during our visit.

First, while the food quality is generally good, it can be a bit inconsistent at times. In our opinion, this can potentially be a disappointment, especially to first-time customers.

Second, 11 Central only accepts cards, which we find a bit inconvenient for those who only carry cash or prefer digital payments.

Even with these minor issues, we still think 11 Central is still worth checking out for all the great things it has to offer.

Pros

  • Wide range of food and drinks available
  • Lively atmosphere
  • Friendly and welcoming staff
  • Dog-friendly establishment

Cons

  • Only accepts cards
  • Higher-end prices
  • Inconsistent food quality

We had a great time here

“We had a great time here! A little disappointed that they didn’t have the brunch menu on but that did not affect our experience. We only came because they are dog-friendly! And the staff really looked after us and our dog Boris!”

Had a great night

“Family drinks with a birthday girl. Had a great night. Staff were really friendly and efficient. Didn’t have food but did have an absolutely delicious cake for the birthday girl.  Would highly recommend”

The Dockyard is one of the more well-known spots on the Quayside, thanks to its excellent food quality, diverse drink options, and cosy atmosphere.

It’s super easy to pop into The Dockyard, as it’s just a five-minute walk from the tram stop at Bridge Street. This convenient location makes it a great starting or ending point for an evening out in the city.

We love the chill and cosy atmosphere here, making it perfect for relaxing and socialising. Whether you’re there for a casual outing or a more intimate gathering, it fits the bill.

Plus, the venue is spacious enough to accommodate large groups while still feeling intimate for smaller groups.

On the downside, the drink prices are on the higher side. While the variety is impressive, other establishments might offer better value for money when it comes to booze.

Also, the service levels at The Dockyard can be hit or miss. Although we didn’t experience any issues, some patrons have reported rudeness from staff, which can detract from the overall positive experience.

Pros

  • Consistent food quality
  • Wide variety of drink options
  • Chill and cosy atmosphere

Cons

  • Drinks are on the pricier side
  • Long wait times
  • Records of inconsistent service levels

Nostalgic fun

“I love this place! Bit of everything! Tom is the most amazing bartender but everyone is so friendly 100% recommended especially for some nostalgia fun!”

Becca Sarah, Google Review

One of the most fun experiences we’ve had.

“Loved it here! We did axe throwing and it was so much fun! We also did shuffleboard and hired a karaoke booth! Honestly one of the most fun experiences we’ve had. Can’t wait to go back!”

The Botanist is our go-to spot for its unique gastro pub-style dining, creative kebabs, delightful brunch offerings, and botanical cocktails.

Right off the bat, we love their convenient location in the Quays, making it a great choice for a meal or drink before or after exploring the area.

What sets The Botanist apart is their diverse and inventive menu, catering to various tastes, including vegetarian and vegan options.

They also offer excellent value for money, with generous portion sizes and high-quality food and drinks. Budget-conscious diners will appreciate that they can enjoy a satisfying meal without breaking the bank.

Another highlight is the excellent service. The quick, friendly service combined with the quality of the food and drinks creates a positive dining experience.

While the drinks are on the pricier side and there are occasional issues with cleanliness, the overall value for money, quality of food, and excellent service make The Botanist a worthwhile visit.

Pros

  • Good value for money on food & drinks
  • Large portion serving
  • Offers vegetarian and vegan choices
  • Short waiting times

Cons

  • Drinks are on the pricier side
  • Cramped spaces
  • Issues on the overall cleanliness of the establishment

Vegan bites which are absolutely yummy

“First time visiting here. We came on the Sunday for drinks during the afternoon, and returned in the evening for drinks and nibbles. They have a great selection of vegan bites which are absolutely yummy. In the early evening there was a little live music. It had a great atmosphere and the staff were really friendly and helpful. We even returned on Monday because we were still in the area. We will definitely be back when we are the area again”

James Woolley, Google Review

A must when you are in Media City

“A must when you are in Media City. The chicken chorizo pie was just delicious. Perfect comfort food on a cold day. The chicken kebabs were on point. Juicy, tender and crispy on the outside. Can’t do it any better than that”
