They specialise in structured garments, so they only work on men’s clothing. While it’s a shame the ladies cannot experience the high-end craftsmanship we’ve seen here, we appreciate that they stick to what they’re experienced in.

We were indeed taken by the luxury experience, from beginning to end. As a travelling tailor, they’ll drop by your house or office to take your exact measurements, with appointments taking as little as 10 minutes to over 2 hours.

It’s remarkable that everything’s custom-made exactly how you want it, without the need for alterations. Given that they work with clients outside of the UK, they’re experienced in handling different types of fabrics—in fact, they have over 5,000 at any given time!

However, a luxury experience can cost a fortune, with a 2-piece suit ranging between £1,099 and over £30,000. But you could also say that a well-made suit is worth the price.

Royal Hong Kong Tailors sets the bar high in custom-made suits. They’re quite accessible, with a shop in the city centre that’s open all days of the week.

They only work with suits, though, so ladies’ wear will have to take a back seat. But once you take a quick look at the craftsmanship, you’ll be properly amazed by the quality, as they’re tailored with great care—basically, they fit exactly how they should be.

Our colleagues liked how every tailored suit was comfortable, which meant they could move around freely without restrictions. It was quite unexpected, considering they only use premium, durable fabrics—there’s wool, linen, silk, cashmere, and more.

In our experience, they don’t push the client into the most expensive fabric, but whichever feels lovely on the skin while maintaining a dapper look.

And the best bit? They’re a custom-made tailor located in Manchester City Centre that doesn’t charge exorbitant prices! As a cherry on top, the finished suit is usually ready for pick up in 3 to 5 weeks.

We admire a shop that provides a solution to every problem, and that’s precisely what Alterations Boutique is for. As their name suggests, they offer alterations, but elevate the game by adding bespoke tailoring.

They welcome men and women in the shop, covering all sorts of garments for every occasion. We initially went here for a simple coat alteration, and quickly learned that they modify everything under the sun, from zips to wedding dresses.

Remarkably, their tailors are experienced working on designer brands, like Louis Vuitton and Moncler.

We mostly want to highlight their made-to-measure services, whether you require a coat or a ball gown. And from the tailored garments we’ve seen, they know quality craftsmanship, where every dress hugs the body perfectly, and every suit doesn’t sag.

Best of all, there’s no need to book an appointment months ahead, so it’s fine that they’re closed on Sundays. They accept walk-ins and same-day tailoring at their city centre shop, anyway, and that’s on top of their already quick turnaround time.

“I found Alterations Boutique after a recommendation from a bridal tailor in Timperley who wasn’t able to fit me in at such short notice, as I needed my wedding dress altering 3 weeks before the wedding. I managed to book an appointment within 2 days, and was made to feel very comfortable and welcomed by the lovely seamstress Oksana. I was really impressed with how quickly they were able to turn the alterations around (within 1 week)! Which was exactly what I wanted, after a panic having to get it sorted so close to the wedding! Oksana did a brilliant job taking the dress in, up and adding a bustle at the back. To give you a bit of an idea, their bespoke tailor offers vintage-inspired outfits, embroidered gowns, silk suits, replica costumes, and hand-painted dresses. If you’ve thought of it, they most likely can sew it.

Even with the replica wardrobe, their craftsmanship remains truly remarkable. Judging by the custom-made dresses we’ve seen, they’ve been meticulous with every detail—like the vintage-inspired gowns that look like real antiques.

We do have to chop off points for availability, since they’re closed on Sundays, and the turnaround time for alterations can take a few weeks. But for the flawlessly detailed work, we don’t mind it too much.

We were properly impressed by Edit Suits Co. for their custom-made suits that make men look dashing and debonair. They focus on menswear, providing formal, business, and casual outfits.

They specialise in suits, which is good news because they get the job done right. After a thorough look at their stuff, we were remarkably pleased with the attention to detail, quality fabrics, and sharp silhouettes.

In addition, the overall experience felt premium, from the appointment to the final fitting. We were rather taken by their service, which was incredibly thorough and helpful, including all the customisations you need and an array of fabric selections.

For a custom-made tailor shop in Manchester City Centre’s busy road, their turnaround time is fairly quick. Your made-to-order suit will usually be ready for picking up in at least 3 weeks—and they work fast because they’re open daily.

It’s a pity that they don’t provide womenswear for us ladies, given the quality work we’ve seen. But for a quality custom tailor, their prices are surprisingly not as hefty as we initially thought.
