Pros

  • Wide variety of choices
  • Knowledgeable staff

Cons

  • Records of poor customer service
  • Price transparency could be better

Northern Flower offers the residents of Manchester a magnificent wild assortment of flowers and plants. Theyโ€™ve been around since 2004, which makes them well-versed in the industry.

We love that their store is a welcoming boutique flower shop maintained by a small staff of committed, qualified, and enthusiastic florists.

In addition, we also want to mention that they have a ton of fun items for sale on their sidewalk and shelves piled high with seasonal plants and flowers.

The way we see it, it makes this shop known for its iconic window displays.

Furthermore, what customers would be glad to know is that Northern Flower provides all of their customers’ plant and flower needs. Weโ€™re impressed that their knowledge can range from upkeeps of terracotta pots to advice on pests.

Moreover, they are consistent in posting gardening advice on its social media โ€“ isn’t that great?

That said, all of these great factors to them still come with some downsides. For one, there are some claims of poor customer service quality.

We think this is due to their limited staff, which can pose a hassle for some people who are newcomers to their store.

Another thing we’re a bit iffy about is their price transparency. Based on our surveys, there are claims that their bouquet prices can be much higher than what was originally agreed upon.

Despite these cons, weโ€™re still quite positive about Northern Flower because of theirready-made bouquets. These are prepared for take-away, which can help with the pricing issues.

So if you’re in the market for an eccentric florist that can provide both bespoke services, and ready made pieces, they’re the best option for you.

Pros

  • One of the most well known florists in the area
  • Wide variety of arrangement options
  • Caters to large scale events

Cons

  • Records of poor customer service
  • Claims of late deliveries

David Wayman Flowers is one of the best spots in Manchester city centre if youโ€™re in need of flowers.

They pride themselves in creating the most uniquely designed bouquets using the highest quality flowers, so we decided to check them out to see if itโ€™s true!

David Wayman’s bunches are kind of like those insane displays the Kardashians put on their Instagram for every occasion, with tons of varied alternatives ranging from seasonal picks to florist’s choice. Theyโ€™ll leave an impression, for sure.

In addition, they also provide tree planting services for its olive trees and bonsais. We love that they’re one, if not the only, florist in Manchester that offers this.

Another thing we appreciate about David Wayman Flowers is that customers can participate in workshops to learn about the arts of flower arrangements, table setups, and wreath making.

We think that these classes can really tie up the whole process of hosting parties and events where floral arrangements are a must.

Despite these rave reviews about them, we do have to be honest and mention that they also have some downsides to them.

For one, clients have claimed that there are some instances of poor customer service, especially during peak seasons. In addition, there are also some reports of their late deliveries when it comes to large-scale events.

For us, this is something to consider when doing business with them.

Nonetheless, if youโ€™re looking for Instagram-worthy bouquets to give to a loved one or just to spruce up your space, we think David Wayman Flowers Ltd is a solid option.

Pros

  • Has flower arrangement classes
  • Good quality products
  • Wide range of choices

Cons

  • No physical location for the mean time

The Bud and Pot, an online florist, that’s making its name in the industry.

Given their popularity, we decided to check it out to see what it offers โ€“ and we liked what we saw! The Bud and Pot specialises in very elegant fresh and dried flower arrangements suited for those with quirky yet tasteful preferences.

Consequently, their bespoke luxury floral arrangements do come with a higher price tag. Although, based on our client surveys, most agreed that the pricing was well worth it.

Aside from their floral arrangements, The Bud and Pot also sells a variety of other unusual items such as Scandi homewares, anarchist books, and etc. We think this might be surprising for some customers who arenโ€™t used to this.ย

We like that Bud and Pot has a service where they can also import rare and eccentric pieces that clients may want. So, if youโ€™re looking for more exotic floristry designs, you know where to go in Manchester!

They are also currently refurbishing their new closed studio, so they are an exclusive online shop for weekly city center delivery every Friday and event, installation and wedding work.

Pros

  • Friendly and attentive staff
  • Responsive to requests
  • Offers flower arrangement classes

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Poor communication during large scale events

Frog Flowers, or just “Frog” for short, is a florist, an installation workshop, and a flower school all rolled into one.

Their goal of “creating joy in the every day,” is evident after we scrolled through  their Instagram profile and saw that this company is on par with the big players in the floriculture industry.

One of their most iconic works is the magnificent hanging display of purple wisteria over Albert’s Schloss’s door. We think that it just shows that they can accommodate all kinds of themes and events that clients may have in mind.

On the downside, one thing we think clients should know is that there are records of poor communication when it comes to bigger events. Moreover, their prices are on the higher end of the scale

But we think it’s great that Frog also delivers countrywide. Plus, their delivery is free for Greater Manchester postcodes if you purchase over ยฃ65, which is a plus for us

Meanwhile, clients who want to try their hand at floristry will be happy to know that Frog also offers seminars and interactive masterclasses. We think this is a great way for customers to better immerse themselves in the art and process of floristry.

In conclusion, Frog is the one to choose if you want to go big or go home, covering everything from storefronts to church pews with all things floral.

Pros

  • Offers a different theme compared to other florists
  • Great customer services
  • Has services and products aside from flower arrangements

Cons

  • Dark vibe might not be for everyone
  • Expensive

Black Raven Flowers and Curiosities was founded in 2020 by Bec Rotchell, after many years in the floristry industry. With the intention of being peculiar and unique, she opened the shop as her medium in exploring the darker side of design.

This meant incorporating her interests in Flowers, Antiques, Victoriana, Gothicana, and Entomology. Thus, Black Raven’s eccentric arrangements are influenced by Victoriana, magick, Gothicana, and witchy things.

Given the themes mentioned, weโ€™re not surprised that Black Raven mostly works with dried and preserved florals. Think gothic dried eucalyptus, huge flowers, and pampas grass.

We do have to be honest in saying that Black Raven isn’t for the faint of heart or Cath Kidston floral apron owners. They regularly incorporate bones, skulls, feathers, and thistles into wreaths, bouquets, and terrariums.

Itโ€™s also quite interesting that Black Raven also makes custom headgear, including flower crowns and hat accessories which can be seen on their Instagram page.

The way we see it, despite their unorthodox take on floristry, they are still a great choice for those who are looking for a darker take on the usual floral arrangements.

That said, their prices are higher because of their unique process of using different preservation and drying techniques โ€” so we think the higher costs are justified

Overall, if their theme suits you and you’re in the market for pieces for your curio cabinet, a stunning table centrepiece, flower crowns, or blossoms for your handfasting ceremony, they’ve got you covered!
