Pros

  • Excellent menu offerings
  • Wide variety of drink choices
  • Jazz performance schedules are available on the website

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Large crowds during happy hour

The Blues Kitchen Manchester is a restaurant, bar, and club featuring Manchester’s best blues, soul, and funk.

They have club nights with DJs and musicians performing into the early hours every Friday and Saturday. At the same time, their jazz sets are available throughout the week.

What initially impressed us is that their schedules for live music are posted on their website for the whole year.

We think this is a great thing to have so customers can plan their visits months in advance.

Another thing that impressed us was their menu options. The Blues Kitchen’s bar and restaurant serve barbeque, burgers, and drinks. They also have the city’s largest selection of bourbons, whiskeys, and rye.

We’re a bit iffy about their pricing. Drinks cost around £10.50, while their dishes cost around £12.25 for small plates.

Based on our customer interviews, the portions are quite hefty, compensating for their prices.

As for the food quality, The Blues Kitchen gets a lot of positive raves for their Hot Chicken Buffalo Sandwich, an authentic South American recipe imported from Nashville.

We love that their food choices complement their taste in live jazz music. It goes to show how this establishment considers the small details to make a terrific overall dining experience.

Generally speaking, The Blues Kitchen is an excellent option for a classy, jazz night out for small groups.

Pros

  • Live jazz music available every night
  • Great customer service
  • Large portion servings
  • Offers Sunday roast choices

Cons

  • Expensive
  • No allergens listed on website

Albert Schloss is a pub, restaurant, and live music venue in Manchester’s city centre.

They’re located on Peter St., which is within the Deansgate vicinity. We love that this makes them accessible for those who want to jump from one bar to another during their night out.

This venue is a definite must for a night out in Manchester, thanks to its quirky atmosphere, wonderful food, and exceptional talent.

Furthermore, they offer a Bavarian-style beer cellar, serving traditional German cuisine and pilsner beers on tap and in bottles. We think this adds a great touch to the overall experience.

As for their live performances, Albert’s Schloss has live jazz music every night, so you’re sure to see a great show. This further impressed us because it means you will score a jazz performance on whichever day you want to visit.

One downside to them, though, is their pricing as they have a steep price range for their menu offerings. On top of that, their allergens are also not listed on their website.

We think this is something that they should consider adding for those who may not be aware of what allergens are included in their dishes.

All things considered, they’re still an excellent choice for groups that want to enjoy live jazz music with a European-style atmosphere.

Pros

  • Affordable
  • Lots of options for live performances
  • Great customer service

Cons

  • Some drinks can be a hit or miss
  • Limited food options

Matt & Phred’s is a long-running live music venue in Manchester’s famous Northern Quarter.

Impressively, Sneaky, Kit Downes, Marius Neset, Manu Delago, the Dagda Quartet, Jamie Cullum, and even Adele have performed in their modest local restaurant throughout the years.

We love that they have live music six evenings a week, including Jazz, Folk, Gypsy, Electro, Salsa, Swing, and even a little Ska. For us, the variety of their available shows makes for a great experience.

Furthermore, they also have their show schedules available on their website. This way, customers will know what is on every day of the week for months to come.

As for their menu offerings, we’ve browsed through their drink selections, and we’re positively pleased with all their available options.

In addition, they also have happy hours every day of the week where you can get two cocktails for £14. Isn’t that great?

What we’re a bit iffy about is their food options. It’s limited to very pizzas and appetisers. The way we see it, they could add a bit more variety in their food options.

All in all, we still think they’re a great option for seeing excellent jazz performances any day of the week.

Pros

  • Lots of weekly events
  • Affordable
  • Available venues for hire
  • Excellent customer service

Cons

  • Limited Jazz performances
  • Customer service could be better
  • Menu not included in the website

The Whiskey Jar has clearly become a favourite hangout in the Northern Quarter. This historic textile mill has been beautifully renovated to become a bar.

Its upstairs bar hosts one of the greatest open mic nights in town, while the downstairs basement is open for private parties and a variety of other events.

What initially impressed us was their list of weekly events. The Whiskey Jar hosts a range of events, from live performances to whiskey tastings.

Furthermore, the list of their events can be found on their website. We think this is a great way to know which events you’d want to participate in in advance.

One thing we think clients should know is that their jazz performances are pretty limited compared to the other entries on our list.

In addition, their menu is also not available on their website. For us, this can be a challenge for those who want to browse their menu in advance or for those who want to know what allergens are in their dishes.

What kept us positive about them was their excellent customer service. Most, if not all, of our interviews with clients, have raved about their impeccable service.

All things considered, they’re still a great option for a classier night out around Manchester.

Pros

  • High-end dining experience
  • Website reservations available
  • Free Wi-Fi

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Claims of bad customer service

Rosso Restaurant Manchester, housed in a Grade II-listed building, serves superb Italian cuisine and beautiful wines in a stunning and contemporary environment.

We were impressed by how upscale the establishment is. They certainly put a lot of thought when it comes to the ambiance to elevate the entire dining experience.

Their menu features Italian cuisine, including fresh pasta, pizza, risotto, fine meat, and fish entrees. Beautiful cocktails and drinks are also a notable part of their menu.

They have a live jazz band performing on a regular basis. Although there is no set schedule for who plays, they have a repertoire of the band playing shown upon entrance.

One major downside to them is their pricing. Their dishes can cost up to £30 for two courses. Additionally, their alcoholic drinks cost £14 while their non-alcoholic drinks are £8.

We think that these prices are fairly steep. However, the whole dining experience is something that you pay for as well.

Moreover, clients should also know that Rosso does not accept reservations of six or more people. With this, large groups may want to consider a different place.

Given these points, Rosso is still an excellent option for a high-class jazz bar perfect for a more intimate setting.
