Pros

  • Has accessible location
  • Open 24 hours
  • Caters to both beginners and advanced players

Cons

  • Has a long waiting list
  • Has expensive membership fees

According to our research, Assheton Bowmen was founded with the mission of promoting archery in all its forms — and with everything that we’ve learned about them, we agree.

We like that this range is conveniently located. In fact, it’s just a 30-minute ride from the city centre. Operating 24 hours a day, archery enthusiasts can enjoy flexibility in their shooting schedule.

However, we believe that the waitlist requirement of 24 hours before club shoots may inconvenience some customers.

They also impressed us with their offerings for both beginners and advanced players, providing a comprehensive archery experience. The availability of beginner courses is a plus, but we give them a minus point for also having a long waiting list, which may deter eager newcomers.

The staff here earns high marks for their commendable customer service. Polite and responsive, their regular customers claim that they create a warm and welcoming environment — making archers feel at home during their visits.

While they deliver an excellent archery experience, we think their membership fees, reaching as high as £168, are on the expensive side. If you’re looking for a more affordable range, it would be best to check other providers.

However, if you have extra money to spend, we think that they are an excellent choice.

Pros

  • Good for casual players
  • Offers archery tag
  • Affordable

Cons

  • Has limited operating hours

The Archertype offers a fun and engaging archery experience, perfect for casual players looking to channel their inner Katniss or Hawkeye. We like that they offer an action-packed arena for friends, families, and colleagues.

We also appreciate that their location is near the city centre. This makes it easily accessible, particularly for tourists exploring the city.

While their operating hours are somewhat limited, they can accommodate many players, so there’s no need to worry about long waitlists. However, we still suggest booking in advance to secure your spot.

In our books, The Artchertype stands out because of their unique offering of archery tags. Here, they allow a friendly combat experience for those in the mood for exciting battles.

We think that alongside the traditional archery range, this addition adds an extra layer of enjoyment to the overall visit.

With prices starting at just £20 per person, they offer an affordable archery experience for their guests.

When it comes to customer service, regular visitors are happy with their staff members. Most of them liked Tim and Franklin who provided clear instructions and a touch of humour throughout the games.

Overall, this is a great place to be for those who want to experience archery without pressure or breaking the bank.

Pros

  • Accessible by public and private transportation
  • Has affordable rates
  • Has commendable teachers

Cons

  • Not suitable for advanced players

Eccles Archery Club is an ideal choice for beginners looking to take archery seriously. With a range of services catering to various groups and events, we think that they will be capable of offering a safe and enjoyable environment for learning and competition.

We like that Eccles Archery Club is conveniently located just 20 minutes away from the city centre. This makes it accessible for those with their own transportation or taking public transit.

The fact that they operate 24 hours is also a plus in our books, since this allows archery enthusiasts to practise at their convenience. Moreover, the absence of a waitlist ensures that eager students can jump right into the action without delay.

From what we’ve seen, one of their stand-out offerings is their Taster Sessions. Here, their team provides a great opportunity for beginners to learn correct posture and shooting techniques in a safe and fun environment.

However, if you’re an advanced shooter who’s looking for a club, this may not be a place for you as they don’t have high-level activities.

With fees of £70.00 for seniors and £45.00 for juniors, their beginner classes offer affordable rates that provide value for money—something we definitely like!

The kind and patient teachers here create a welcoming atmosphere, particularly suitable for kids and teens. According to our research, their supportive approach encourages learners to progress and enjoy their archery journey.

Pros

  • Has a long and rich history
  • Has services for players of all skill-level
  • Has commendable staff members

Cons

  • Has a long waiting list
  • Far from the city centre

Stalybridge Archery Club boasts a rich history and a prestigious roster of members, including county champions, national record holders, and even Olympic competitors.

Located about 40 minutes away from the city centre, this place is luckily well-connected by public transport. However, we believe that the challenging drive may deter potential visitors who prefer bringing their own car.

Another aspect worth noting is their 24-hour operating hours, which offers flexibility. But the strict scheduling system and long waiting list for members could be less ideal for individuals with limited time availability.

On a lighter note, they offer a comprehensive range of services, catering to beginners, intermediate, and advanced players — which is great! This will be ideal for parents who want to pass the sport to their children.

While the membership fees here may be higher compared to other ranges in the area, we think the premium experience they provide justifies the price.

The opportunity to be part of a club with such a storied history and roster of archers of various skill-level adds significant value to the overall archery experience.

In terms of their customer service, we found that the staff members here are known for their politeness and accommodation. Although the teachers have a strict approach, we like that they balance it well, ensuring they challenge students without causing frustration.

Pros

  • Caters to all skill-levels
  • Has affordable beginner lessons
  • Has supportive staff members

Cons

  • Far from the city centre

Nestled in the beautiful Bruntwood Park in Cheadle, Bowmen of Bruntwood is a thriving target archery club. We like that they are welcoming archers of all levels: from casual enthusiasts to aspiring competitors.

We must mention that their location is just 30 minutes away from the city centre — making the travel time a bit discouraging for other potential members.

However, the absence of a waitlist is a plus for us, since it allows those with limited time to dive straight into their archery adventure.

One of their standout features that we want to highlight is that they offer a diverse array of bows, including Longbows, Recurve bows, and Compound bows — catering to archers with different preferences and skill levels.

And if you’re new to archery, you’ll be glad to know that they have affordable beginner courses. These are held over two three-hour sessions on weekends, at a cost of just £50, providing a budget-friendly entry point!

According to feedback from parents who enrolled their kids, this team has supportive teachers who encourage and uplift their students. They added that this positive approach fosters a welcoming atmosphere, allowing archers to flourish in their learning journey.

Overall, we think Bowmen of Bruntwood is a great place where every member of the family can experience the fun and challenge that archery brings.
