The 5 Firms with the Top Assault Lawyers in Manchester to Advocate for Your Rights!

  • Experience and Specialisation - It’s imperative for assault lawyers to have a solid track record in trials and case dismissals, as well as specialise in a variety of assault cases to ensure they know how to properly defend their clients.
  • Professionalism - A lawyer must maintain the integrity of the profession, regardless of the case, as it shows they will defend their clients while maintaining ethical standards.
  • Communication and Availability - An assault defence lawyer tends to work after hours because crimes can happen at all hours. Clear communication is also imperative to make sure you’re informed all the way.
  • Billing Transparency - Hiring a solicitor isn’t going to be a bargain, which is why avoiding surprise charges can greatly help the client in the long run.

I’ve seen bloody fights go down during nights out. When everyone’s hammered and tempers flare, throwing punches is bound to happen.

In all the chaos, fingers will get pointed left and right, and this temporary fight can affect your future. So when the police arrive, it’s important to know your rights—ask for legal representation, instead of just “getting it over with.”

Here are our most trusted assault law firms in Manchester, which specialise in all sorts of criminal defence cases, because regardless of what happened, you deserve due process.

Some of our highly trusted assault lawyers in Manchester can be found at Olliers Solicitors, a law firm that specialises in criminal defence. Their specialisation in various crimes makes them greatly experienced in defending individuals and businesses.

Their practice areas are vast, including common assault, actual bodily harm, and unlawful wounding. They know the ropes in ethically defending clients accused of assault, even when it intersects with family cases (domestic incidents, for instance).

We weren’t at all surprised by their solid history, including successfully defending clients in court and case dismissals. You see, their assault defence lawyers have appeared in the Magistrates’ Court, and the firm has received the Top Tier ranking from Legal 500.

The thing is, they get tied up with work most of the time. Based on our client surveys, there were moments when a change of solicitor was inevitable, which we understand can happen sometimes, but the reassignment still adds a bit of uncertainty.

Pros

  • Vast areas of practice in criminal charges
  • Top Tier ranking in Legal 500
  • Frequent appearance at Magistrates’ Court
  • Represents individuals and businesses

Cons

  • Instances of solicitor reassignment

The track record of Mary Monson Solicitors lives up to expectations. They’ve successfully defended clients accused of assault and have a high rate of case dismissals— 72% have received not guilty verdicts or have been dismissed.

For good measure, they’re a Top Tier Firm at Legal 500 and have received a high ranking as one of the best law firms in Manchester. Impressive, really, and it’s very helpful that they specialise in criminal defence.

We were grateful for their free case reviews for a no-obligation time with a specialist, available in-person or via phone. The majority of their clients found it thorough, and it remained professional and non-judgmental, regardless of the case.

But since they get snowed under at times, delayed responses to inquiries are bound to happen. It makes sense, since they specialise in loads of criminal cases.

They’re still solid, especially when you take a quick look at their pricing. We were pleased with their fixed fees and instalment plans, ensuring you know the exact cost.

Pros

  • High rate of case dismissals & not guilty verdicts
  • Top Tier Firm at Legal 500
  • Offers free case reviews
  • Fixed rates with instalment plans

Cons

  • Delayed response to queries at times

The help and advice I received was reassuring

“I came to Mary Monson Solicitors for help with a criminal conviction case. The help and advice I received was reassuring and helpful. The service I received was friendly and they communicated with me every step of the way. What was a really stressful situation for me became a lot more easy to deal with. I contacted Mary Monson really last minute, doubtful that they would be able to even assist me. However, they got onto my case straight away and guided me right through to then end. I even got lost on the way to court, already nervous, I almost turned back home. However, one of the staff members stayed on the phone with me and guided me to where I needed to be. I would highly recommend Mary Monson Solicitors to anyone in a similar situation.”

They’ve given me my life back

“I instructed Mary Monson Solcitors as a friend recommended them as i was facing 2 very serious charges. I had a consultation with Liam Kotrie and Robert Bailey and Robert was my lawyer throughout my case. I was found Not guilty of both charges in July 2023 and myself and my family could not be any more grateful to Robert and the firm. I would recommend Mary Monson Solicitors to anyone. They have got me my life back and I couldn’t be happier right now.”

The client-centred approach of Caines Law is what initially caught our attention. We were right to include them on our list, as their service focuses on tailored advice for each client, since assault defence doesn’t have cookie-cutter solutions.

They specialise in criminal law, including assaults, sexual offences, and bodily harm. What’s brilliant is their experience in advising high-profile individuals accused of assault, showcasing their knowledge in simple and complex cases.

They’ve got it all sorted, as they have specialist criminal litigation solicitors ready to build your case, and they frequently offer police station representation. Plus, they only instruct barristers with a solid track record of successful outcomes.

But you must know that they only work with privately funded clients, so individuals searching for legal aid will have to look elsewhere. On the positive note, they provide free consultations to ease the financial burden.

Price-wise, they aren’t bloody overpriced. You either receive a fixed rate or hourly fees, and we appreciate the transparency of it all—as do most clients they’ve represented.

Pros

  • Client-centred approach
  • Works with high-profile individuals
  • Chooses barristers with excellent records
  • Transparent about the fees

Cons

  • No legal aid available

They have been thorough throughout the whole case

“I have had an exceptional experience having Caines Law as my legal team. They have been thorough throughout the whole case. Communication has been brilliant as i have not been left long between replies and I have been updated promptly when needed to be. They gave me clear instructions and made the entire time pending the court hearing a time with ease. Happily would answer any questions I had. I would highly recommend them to anyone and if i were to need legal representation any time in future I would use them again!”

And they’re exactly who you want on your corner should you be accused of assault, as this lot remain professional, regardless of the case. Although non-emergency callbacks are delayed at times, calls for police representation are always answered.

Their track record speaks for itself, having been recognised for their successful outcomes and expertise in criminal defence, including cases of assault and domestic violence.

In addition, their lawyers have represented clients at Magistrates’ Court, as well as the Manchester Crown Court. Impressive history, overall, given that they can handle all sorts of assault cases.

They’re also ideal for individuals, budget-wise. Aside from legal aid, they provide fixed fees without surprise charges, and private clients can receive a more affordable fee by hiring a trainee solicitor for non-complex cases.

Communication was open, concise, and clear at all times

“Simon was recommended and what a recommendation, that I will uphold and pass on to anyone that needs it! From initial email to first interview lines of communication were open concise and clear at all times. Simon represented me in court, not often someone of such stature appears in question (MD) in my opinion which speaks volumes about the integrity and professionalism of the firm. The outcome of the case has been awarded in my favour which I belive is all down to Simon and his team. Thank you all so much”

The proven experience of Clifford Johnston & Co is the exact reason we selected them. Their assault defence lawyers in Manchester have represented clients accused of physical attacks, which brilliantly resulted in positive outcomes.

Whilst criminal law isn’t their main specialisation, they still manage to work on all sorts of offence cases, such as assault and theft. Seeing that they’re also experienced in family law, they can handle assault defence cases that overlap with it.

Their criminal defence solicitors handle simple and complex assault cases, where they plan the proper strategies that will lead to the most positive outcome for their clients. Some were cleared of assault charges and had their cases dismissed.

From what we’ve seen, they’re easy to speak with, except when they’re buried in work. They do get a tad behind schedule in responding to inquiries, but they make up for it by offering no-obligation consultations.

The crowning glory has got to be their legal aid representation for criminal offences. It does a lot of good that they have flexible hours (sometimes outside of regular hours) and have another office in Stockport.

Pros

  • Works on cases that overlap with family law
  • Offers legal aid
  • Flexible hours
  • Another office in Stockport
  • Provides obligation consultation

Cons

  • Delayed query responses when busy
  • Doesn’t solely focus on criminal law

Really understood and built up my case well

“Jared McNally at Cliffford Johnston & Co really understood and built up my case well. He and his team have a great package for regulatory cases which in my case included early access to a Barrister. Jared and the team took great care in presenting my case and came up with some great points from their detailed review of the evidence. I was really proud of the submissions they put forward on my behalf and they put the evidence I already had in a really persuasive way. The result was an overwhelmingly successful outcome, which has been a huge weight off my mind.

I am already using Clifford Johnston again and would recommend them wholeheartedly.”

He showed me that he always had the situation under control, which kept me positive and confident throughout. Thank you very much”
