Pros

  • Ample parking space
  • Commendable drinks
  • Affordable menu
  • Knowledgeable staff members

Cons

  • Far from public transport spot
  • No food options

The Cracked Actor stands out as one of the newer bars in town as they were only established in 2019. But we learned that they’ve already gained fame thanks to their celebrity owner, Joe Patten.

Upon checking out their offerings, we were disappointed to note the lack of food options — unlike other bars in the area.

However, we did appreciate their drink selection which includes their own Cracked Actor Lager. Furthermore, they also have an array of craft ales from Tiny Rebel – a widely favourite line of alcoholic beverages in the UK.

We would also like to raise a glass to their impeccable customer service. Their staff members were knowledgeable about the menu and were patient in giving suggestions.

We’re just a bit concerned that they’re located a tad distant from the Stockport stop. Luckily, there are ample parking slots for those who would bring their own car.

Additionally, we like that they are open until the wee hours on selected days which give their guests plenty of time to enjoy their stay.

Finally, we give them props for their affordability. In fact, an average stay here only sets patrons back £10 — making them one of the most affordable spots in the area.

Pros

  • Famous bartenders
  • Beautiful interiors
  • Accommodating staff members
  • Accessible location

Cons

  • Expensive menu
  • Limited operating days

Cherry Jam stood out to us for their internationally renowned bartenders, led by the maestro Neil Garner. He is a former Britain’s Got Talent “Bar Wizards” performer and professional mixologist to the stars. We were also impressed with their interior which boasts 1200 square feet of eccentric, eye-popping décor—it’s so Instagrammable!Live music also fills the air, adding to the lively atmosphere we totally dig. Along with this, we give them props for their accommodating staff members who check in now and then to see if we need anything. We also sampled their concoctions, and boy, did they deliver! The 192, Blossoms, and Town Called Malice were standouts — living up to every ounce of hype surrounding them. But it’s not just about the drinks! We like that they’ve got something for everyone. We discovered that they also offer afternoon tea—an ideal option for those looking to unwind without the hangover. On top of this, we also enjoyed their bottomless prosecco offer for £25 per head – we’re just bummed that it’s a tad pricier than the ones from the other establishments in the area.Lastly, for those who are planning to visit, we think that it’s best to check their operating hours as they’re only open four days a week.

Pros

  • Offers a relaxed vibe
  • Wide selection
  • Knowledgeable staff members
  • Accessible location

Cons

  • Closes early

The Hinds Head exudes a relaxed vibe which makes them stand out from the more lively bars in Stockport. We highly recommend this place for those who want to chill instead of partying.

For us, The Hinds Head shines the brightest in the realm of food. We tried their dishes and we were blown away by their home cooked delights like homemade gourmet fish fingers and the prawn cocktail.

When it comes to drinks, we weren’t disappointed at all! We give them a big thumbs up for their wide selection of draught lagers, hand-pulled real ales, and quality bitters and dark ales.

And we mustn’t forget to mention their hand-selected wines that their customers can drink within the bar or take home for later.

During our visit, though, we found ourselves in need of some guidance on the menu since they have a lot to offer. We appreciate that the staff rose to the occasion and patiently offered suggestions.

Another plus for us is that getting to the bar is a breeze as they’re situated just a stone’s throw away from Brackley Road. And while they may close earlier than other establishments in the area, their daily opening makes them accessible to their patrons.

As for the bill, expect to fork out between £10 to £20 for an average visit. If you ask us,  this is a sweet spot for those who want quality without breaking the bank, striking the perfect balance between indulgence and thriftiness.

Pros

  • Wide selection of drinks
  • Offers promotions
  • Quick customer service

Cons

  • Far from public transportation stop
  • Has limited operating days
  • Closes early

The Good Rebel caught our attention because of their famous beer garden – a sought-after venue for events like birthdays, bridal showers, stag parties, and corporate occasions.

On normal days, the beer garden is an awesome spot to chug some drinks while soaking in some fresh air, afternoon sun, or the crisp night air.

A downside we noted, though, is that accessibility might pose a slight challenge for those reliant on public transportation as they are a 12-minute stroll from the Stockport stop.

We’re also bummed that they close their doors on Mondays and Tuesdays and bid farewell a tad earlier than their counterparts.

Despite these hiccups, we think that they’re still worth the try, especially because of their diverse selection of cocktails, beers, ales, among others.

We also commend them for their enticing promotions, like the two cocktails for £10 offer. And they also extend a generous 20% discount for those who are working in the hospitality industry — just bring the necessary supporting documents.

During our visit, we were also treated to exemplary customer service that went above and beyond. We love how the staff were constantly smiling and they were quick in addressing all of our requests.

We’ve also spoken to some regulars who happily shared that the staff members remember their orders every time they visit. In our books, this aspect is a plus since it makes people feel like VIPs!

Pros

  • Features a jukebox
  • Wide menu selection
  • Accommodating staff members

Cons

  • Far from public transportation
  • Closes early

What we love most about Bakers Vaults is it’s one of the rare establishments that boasts a working jukebox. We dropped by and it’s like stumbling upon a treasure chest of nostalgia!

We also appreciate their laid-back and relaxing vibe. For us, they’re the perfect for those seeking a haven to unwind with friends and family over drinks.

But let’s talk about the drinks on offer! Bakers Vaults definitely know the proper ales, with their offerings supplied by the esteemed Titanic Brewery of Burslem.

We also like that there’s something to suit every palate here — from a rich, dark ale to a punchy IPA and a refreshing pale session beer.

As for the nibbles, we appreciate their array of burgers and sausages. And with prices ranging from £10–20 for an average visit, we believe that indulging won’t leave a dent in the wallet!

Another positive aspect we’d like to highlight is their warm staff. From the moment we stepped through the door, we were greeted with genuine warmth and enthusiasm with servers addressing all of our requests with a smile on their faces.

Sadly, we’re disappointed to find that they close their doors a bit earlier than others in the area. On top of this, they’re a 12-minute walk from Stockport stop, which is quite a distance—but we think it’s all so worth it!

Pros

  • Live performances
  • Wide selection of drinks
  • Accommodating staff members
  • Accessible location
  • Operational everyday

Cons

  • Expensive menu

Our evening at The Spinning Top was nothing short of spectacular, thanks to their electrifying live music scene that spans genres from rock to reggae.

From what we’ve seen, we think The Spinning Top is an ideal place to be for a fun night out, whether you’re a tourist eager to soak in the city’s vibrant culture or local scouting for the next big act.

But it’s not just the tunes that have us singing their praises since their extensive drink menu is also a delight. We’re giving them two thumbs up for their wide selection — from brewed cask ale to real cider, continental lager, and German beers.

On the downside, a stay here is quite expensive and it might set you back £20 to £30 for a visit. But, we think it’s worth every penny when you factor in the live performances that elevate the entire experience.

Plus, we like how the staff go above and beyond in making patrons feel valued and catered to. During our visit, they graciously accommodated a special request for a specific table near the stage.

Finally, we appreciate that they also keep their doors open until the early hours every day of the week for their patrons. And they’re located just a stone’s throw away from Grand Central stop—a plus for convenience!

Pros

  • Live games
  • Convenient location
  • Open every day
  • Wide menu selection

Cons

  • Some reports of rude staff members

We think that The Cocked Hat is the ultimate hotspot for sports enthusiasts as they broadcast live games that draw a lively crowd.

We also like that they are conveniently situated near the Grand Central stop which makes finding them a breeze. On top of this, we also give them props for keeping the fun going seven days a week.

However, we must note that interested patrons must secure their spot in advance, especially during nail-biting matches. From what we’ve seen, The Cocked Hat is packed during such events!

Another thing we like is their extensive food menu, which boasts something for every palate, with their legendary Sunday Roast as the most popular option. We tried it and it didn’t disappoint!

We also give them a big thumbs up for their drink selection for all types of craving – from cask ales to a stellar selection of draught beers, ciders, bitters, and spirits.

As for the prices, an average visit here sets their patrons back between £10 to £20 — putting them in the middle of the price range in the area.

And while our experience was pleasant, we were sad to have received reports of rude staff members being dismissive to patrons.

Despite this setback, we remain eager to revisit The Cocked Hat, thanks to their live sports offering and wide menu selection.

Pros

  • Comfort food and beer
  • Pleasant staff members

Cons

  • Far from public transport stops
  • Open only 4 days a week

This Godless Place Bar & Canteen is a haven for comfort food enthusiasts. Here, we had a blast tasting their staples like tacos, fried chicken, and mac-n-cheese.

We also commend them for their selection of beers that go well with any item on their food menu.

Upon entering the bar, we were greeted by a cosy atmosphere that buzzed with activity—a great vibe if you ask us!

We must note, however, that This Godless Place Bar & Canteen is packed particularly in the afternoon and evening when patrons flock in after a long day at work or school.

Also, we think that accessibility might be a concern for those relying on public transportation as they are a 12-minute stroll from the Stockport stop.

On top of this, their limited operating days of just four times a week further add to the challenge of planning a visit.

On a brighter note, we were thoroughly impressed by their customer service. During our visit, the staff served us with warm smiles and went out of their way to ensure that all of our requests were addressed right away.

Finally, we like that an average visit here costs between £10 to £20. For us, dining here is a reasonable affair, especially when you factor in their location, service, and delectable menu selection.

Pros

  • Open until 4:30 am
  • Lively crowd
  • Wide selection

Cons

  • Far from public transportation
  • Reports of rude bouncers

If you’re looking to party into the early hours, Notion is the place to be. We were impressed to learn that they’re the only bar in the area open until 4:30 am!

On top of this, we were also blown away by their interesting interiors. Here, patrons are greeted by graffiti-inspired walls that create an edgy underground-like atmosphere.

We also appreciate their energetic DJs who know just how to pump up the crowd and keep the party going strong.

As for the drinks, we love how Notion covers all the bases with a diverse selection, ranging from cocktails to an impressive array of spirits and a small selection of draft beer.

And for those who want a nibble while drinking and dancing, Notion has some standout fare. We paired our beverages with their tasty chicken wings, fries, and chicken tenders – a perfect combination!

As for the costs, we noted that a visit here set patrons back an average of  £10 to £20. We think that they offer good value for money in the area, but it’s not the cheapest option as well.

We’re just disappointed to have received some reports about rude bouncers. But we were pleased with the service we received from the polite and accommodating staff members who even surprised us with free drinks towards the end of the night.

Pros

  • Beer garden
  • Accommodating staff
  • Accessible location

Cons

  • Early closure
  • Limited operating days

Enigma lives up to its name with its mysterious spartan interior featuring bare-brick walls juxtaposed with rustic half-timbered ones. We also like that they have a beer garden that becomes the haunt of choice for regulars whenever the weather permits.

We also appreciate their live music! Although, we noted that this place is more on the relaxed side when compared to other livelier bars in the area.

Enigma also doesn’t disappoint when it comes to their menu. We sampled their burgers, hot sandwiches, and fries, and we were thoroughly impressed

Additionally, their selection of local and imported beers, along with classic cocktails, provided the perfect accompaniment to our meal, leaving us craving more.

We’re also happy that the staff here left a good lasting impression with their professionalism and friendliness. They were attentive in listening to our special instructions on meal preparation and quick to accommodate all of our requests.

From what we’ve gathered, a night at Enigma costs between £10 to £20 — a fair price especially when you consider the quality of their food and drinks.

But, we think that their early closing times and limited operating days might be a slight inconvenience for those seeking a late-night haunt.

Despite these concerns, we give them props for their convenient location that’s just minutes away from the Grand Central stop.
