Pros

  • Accessible location
  • Long operating hours
  • Wide selection of food and drinks
  • Accommodating staff members

Cons

  • More expensive compared to other bars

Given their location at the bustling town centre of Wigan, we appreciate Revolution for their convenient location. In fact, they’re just a few minutes away from the Wigan Wallgate stop, making it a breeze for us to visit.

What’s more, we’re impressed by their generous opening hours – starting from noon and stretching into the early hours of the morning on selected days. This gives customers plenty of time for a tipple or two, eh?

We dove into their menu and savoured their Bottomless Brunch options — particularly relishing the Brunch Grill that features a free-range fried egg, crispy bacon, sausages, hash brown, baked beans, and buttered toasted sourdough, among others.

We also give them a big thumbs up for offering vegan alternatives for all of their menu items.

Their diverse drink selection didn’t disappoint either. We indulged in the classic Pornstar Martini and the intriguingly named Mean Girl. For non-alcoholic drinkers out there, the refreshing Strawberry Lemonade is a must-order.

However, we think that it’s worth noting that an average bill here ranges between £20 to £30, so dining here can lean towards the pricey side.

Despite this, the quality of their offerings coupled with stellar customer service ensures we’ll be returning for more.

Pros

  • Affordable menu selection
  • Various entertainment options
  • Accessible location
  • Long operating hours

Cons

  • Reports of rude staff members

The Berkeley caught our attention as one of the most affordable bars in Wigan. Here, a visit only averages between a mere £1 to £10, but we’re glad to say that they don’t compromise on quality!

During our visit, we were warmly welcomed by friendly staff members who promptly ushered us to a seat near a beautiful French window.

We were further impressed by the extensive selection of real ales, gins, wines, and various other spirits that cater to a wide range of tastes and preferences.

Plus, their menu also boasts a good variety of dishes, and we particularly enjoyed the classic fish and chips as well as their hearty bangers and mash.

We also appreciate that there are many entertainment options here, such as their lively DJs, sports games on TV screens, and the occasional burst of karaoke — ensuring there’s never a dull moment.

One downside we noted, however, is that we received several reports of rude and dismissive behaviour towards other guests. While we didn’t experience this first-hand, it’s quite disheartening to find how this aspect dampened an otherwise lovely evening.

On the brighter side, their accessibility is also commendable since they’re just a 3-minute stroll from Wigan Wallgate stop. Furthermore, their generous opening hours from noon until the early hours of the morning gives patrons ample opportunity to drop by.

Pros

  • Beautiful railway era-inspired interior
  • Accessible location
  • Wide menu selection
  • Friendly staff members
  • Quick serving time

Cons

  • Generally earlier closing time than others

Wigan Central was developed to honour the memory of the long-gone Wigan Central Railway Station. So, you can expect a lovely atmosphere that certainly enhances a night out.

Upon entering the establishment, we were blown away by their interior that nostalgically nods to the past, featuring handcrafted furnishings and decor reminiscent of the 1940s to 1950s railway era.

Another plus in our books is that they’re located near the two Wigan Rail Stations which makes it easy to find their establishment for us. However, we think it’s worth noting they close earlier compared to other bars in the area, limiting their availability for some patrons.

Nevertheless, we thoroughly enjoyed their wide selection of beers, ales, and ciders. For us, this makes them an ideal destination for those looking for a full-on drinking fest.

We also love that their drinks are complemented by enticing food options. Some of the standouts for us are the pork pies and cheese board.

The bonus? Our orders arrived so fast! Add to that the friendly staff, and we were in for a fantastic time!

To top it all off, their prices are reasonable. In fact, an average visit ranges between £10 to £20 — ensuring that a good time at this place won’t break the bank.

Pros

  • Warm staff members
  • Wide selection of drinks
  • Accessible location
  • Reasonable pricing
  • Long operating hours

Cons

  • Some complaints about quality of their drinks

Harry’s Bar is one of the oldest bars in Wigan. We were impressed to learn that they have a rich history, given they’re the home of The World Pie Eating Championships.

Upon stepping inside, we were greeted warmly by the welcoming staff. We appreciate that they promptly enquired about our seating preferences — setting the tone for a pleasant experience ahead.

We were also pleased to find a wide selection of drinks on offer, with our favourites being the draft beer and ale.

However, we believe that it’s worth sharing that we’ve noted feedback from others about the ale tasting somewhat watered down. With this, we suggest going for other options in case you are looking for stronger drinks.

Despite the occasional critique, we give them a thumbs up for maintaining reasonable prices. Here, an average visit costs patrons between £10 to £20—a fair deal for a satisfying outing.

Another aspect we like about Harry’s Bar is that cabs are conveniently parked outside. This is why accessibility was not an issue during our visit.

Moreover, we like that they are open every day with extended operating hours during the weekends. This gives patrons more time to drop by and enjoy their offerings.

Pros

  • Upbeat atmosphere
  • Accessible location
  • Friendly crew members
  • Wide menu selection
  • Reasonable pricing

Cons

  • Limited operating days

Anderton’s Bar & Kitchen is an ideal spot for those seeking entertainment options. We like that they offer upbeat live music alongside the occasional karaoke session for those with a song in their hearts.

They are conveniently located just a three-minute walk from the Wigan North Western station—a plus for accessibility!

Sadly, we must note that they have limited operating days of just four days a week. We’re a bit iffy about this as most bars in the area are open every day.

On the other hand, we think their vibrant atmosphere and friendly staff make up for it. We appreciate that their team members greeted us with smiles from the moment we stepped through the door until they bid us farewell.

Upon delving into their menu, we found a tempting array of dishes. Some of our favourites are the Ham and Cheese Sandwich, Chicken Caesar Wrap, and Chili Con Carne Jacket Potatoes.

We’re glad to report that their drinks menu doesn’t disappoint as well. We tried their selection of layered shots including must-tries like Captain America, Neapolitan, and Fallen Frog.

Lastly, an average visit here ranges between £10 to £20. If you ask us, they offer a reasonable deal for a night out on the town — ensuring that patrons can enjoy good food, great drinks, and lively entertainment without breaking the bank.
