Pros
- Inclusive menu
- Accommodating staff members
- Accessible location
Cons
- Expensive food selection
- Opens later than other breakfast joints on most days
Laco Café & Bistro is a charming establishment conveniently located at Little Underbank that serves up a classic European breakfast. We believe that they will be ideal for those seeking their usual comfort food.
Their cheese, ham, and caramelised onion toastie, alongside the delectable smoked salmon and scrambled egg ensemble took the spotlight when we dined here.
But we think that what sets them apart is their thoughtful consideration of dietary preferences. They even have vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options readily available, such as the veggie English breakfast.
When it comes to their beverages, we appreciate that Laco Café & Bistro covers all the morning essentials. Unsurprisingly, the most popular options are their freshly brewed coffee and refreshing orange juice.
Admittedly, we think that indulging in their culinary delights can come with a hefty price tag when compared to other establishments in the area. An average meal sets you back £20 to £30.
However, considering the impeccable food quality and attentive customer service, we found it to be a worthwhile spend.
Speaking of service, we’d like to commend the staff assigned to our table. They even went the extra mile to inquire about our preferred cooking methods — making us feel like VIPs.

Pros
- Convenient location
- Opens early
- Click-and-collect services
- Affordable menu
Cons
- Reports of slow service
Juniper is conveniently located at Bramhall Village, and this factor is a big plus for us! Also, they have ample parking that ensures a hassle-free start to the day.
We also like that they’re open from 7:30 am on selected days. This is earlier compared to the usual opening time in the area, giving their customers a chance to dine before the morning rush hour.
Additionally, their click-and-collect service is a thoughtful addition for busy patrons looking to minimise their wait time in-store.
When we dropped by, we were greeted warmly by their attentive staff. We also appreciate that they swiftly attended to all of our needs, enhancing our overall dining experience.
However, we think that it’s worth noting that some patrons have voiced concerns about slow service times. For us, this is something that’s worth considering, particularly during busy periods.
On the bright side, their menu boasts an enticing array of options. This included some of the standout dishes that we liked, such as their Traditional Full English and Smashed Avocado.
Their beverage selection covers all the basics, with options ranging from coffee to tea to juices. But what caught our attention were their indulgent milkshakes, adding a delightful touch to the meal.
Their prices start at £8 for food and £2.50 for drinks — making them an affordable option when compared to other establishments in the area.

- Pleasant staff members
Cons
- Reports bland food and drinks
Trove has many branches peppered across the UK. Luckily, they have a branch that is conveniently nestled at Stockport Road, just a stone’s throw away from the Crayfield Road stop.
Furthermore, they open at 8:00 am on selected days. We like how they provide an early morning haven for patrons seeking a head start before the hustle and bustle of rush hour sets in.
They stood out to us thanks to their artisanal bread selection that is crafted from scratch using organic flour and wild yeast. They also offer a variety including white sourdough, wholemeal sourdough, white bloomer, and the intriguing 100% rye & fennel options.
During our visit, we were delighted by their unique offerings such as the inventive Kimcheese and Bacon Butty.
Their beverage offerings also didn’t disappoint. Here, they have offerings ranging from coffee and tea to juices for breakfast.
While their menu impressed us with its quality, it’s worth noting that some patrons have lamented about the dishes tasting bland.
However, amidst these concerns, we like that they are an affordable option with meals averaging between £ 10 to £20.
Finally, their customer service shines. The staff assigned to us catered to all of our requests with a smile.

Tiamo’s Continental Cafe earns plus points for their inclusive menu. Here, they have an extensive selection of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.
Moreover, we commend that they go the extra mile by accommodating various allergies and allowing customers to customise their orders. For us, this aspect makes them a haven for those with food restrictions and picky eaters alike.
During our visit to their charming cafe, we were impressed by their delectable tapas, enticing hot sandwiches, and flavourful chickpea salads.
And when it comes to beverages, we learned that their regulars raved about their coffees — and we were equally impressed.
Alongside this, we appreciate that they also offer a selection of juices, teas, and milkshakes which ensures that there’s a refreshing drink to complement every meal.
It’s also notable that an average meal here is priced between £10 to £20. This makes them a wallet-friendly dining experience without compromising on taste or quality — earning plus points from us.
While we personally had a positive experience with their customer service, it’s worth noting that some reports have surfaced regarding dismissive staff members.
On a brighter note, their convenient location at Gorton Road is just a few minutes walk from the Bridgefield Street stop — making them accessible to those who are on their way to work.

Pros
- Hospitable customer service
- Affordable menu
- Accessible location
- Opens early
Cons
- Dated tables and chairs
- Closes early
Johnny’s has been a beloved fixture in the community for over 50 years. From what we’ve seen, they’re renowned for their warm and welcoming staff members who make every visit feel like coming home.
During our visit, we experienced firsthand the charm that has endeared them to locals for generations. We love how we were greeted with genuine smiles.
We also commend that their attentive service extended beyond the initial welcome. The staff promptly addressed our requests and ensured our dining experience was nothing short of delightful, with regular check-ins to ensure our satisfaction.
Despite their long-standing reputation, we love how Johnny’s remains as one of the most affordable restaurants in the area. An average meal costs between £1–£10 only — offering unbeatable value without compromising on quality.
Among their standout dishes are the delectable meat pies, flavourful mushrooms, and crispy bacon. We paired this with their coffee and we were delighted!
However, we can’t help but notice the dated tables and chairs. We think it would be nice if they improved on this, although we think this aspect offers some charm and nostalgia.
Finally, we give them props for opening bright and early at 7:00 am. They are also conveniently located just a 2-minute walk away from the Sykes Street stop.
