We believe that Food Sorcery Cookery School is ideal for those who want to take fun classes with their little ones. Here, they have culinary courses specifically designed for children along with their parents which makes them a delightful family activity.

We also appreciate that they offer a wide range of classes, allowing students to choose various cuisines from Asian to European.

On top of this, we noted that they also have classes specialising in drinks, unlike other culinary schools in the area.

Their numerous classes also give students plenty of options to choose from. We’re impressed that their commendable website allows you to filter schedules according to date, class type, and location.

Overall, all these aspects make planning easy and convenient to find the one that works best for your needs and schedule.

Speaking of location, we like that they’re accessibly situated at Didsbury. Additionally, they open early and close late.

However, we noticed that they’re a bit expensive, with classes starting at £95 per person. Despite this, we definitely think that they’re worth the little splurge for the experience they offer.

Pros

  • Wide range of classes
  • Accessible location
  • Long operating hours

Cons

  • More expensive compared to other culinary schools in the area

Encouraging

“Great experience. Highly recommend. The chef and team were very friendly and guided my son and I through every step of the meal prep encouraging the kids in the group to get stuck in along the way. Thanks!”

The Spice Club Cookery School is perfect for those who may be anxious about starting culinary classes. We learned from students during our interviews that their staff members are friendly and calming.

On top of this, we noted that they were also polite and quick to respond when we contacted them for inquiries.

We appreciate that they offer Indian cooking classes for all levels, from simple dishes to five-course meals. However, we’re a bit iffy that their services are limited to that cuisine only, unlike other schools in the area.

On the other hand, we like that they’re situated in Birmingham — a convenient location for many. They also don’t have a fixed schedule for classes and can adjust according to the availability of the students which offers great flexibility.

On top of this, we also like that they offer online classes that make them even more accessible to their students.

Pros

  • Friendly and calming staff
  • Responsive customer service
  • Accessible location
  • Flexible class schedule
  • Offers online classes

Cons

  • Limited to Indian cuisine only

Highly recommended

“Monica and her mum were warm and friendly, instantly putting us at ease with chai tea and an explanation of Indian spices and cooking prep. We made a five course dinner with courses chosen in advance from a large selection and both Monica and get mum were excellent teachers – especially patient with our terrible attempt to fold samosas properly –  giving us plenty of little hints and tips as we went along. We had a brilliant time and I would highly recommend this class and school to anyone who enjoys cooking.”

Everything was perfect

“My sister and I recently attended a cookery course at The Spice Club. Everything was just perfect from the initial welcome from Monica and Mum Anita, the cookery demonstration with the chance to get involved in various stages of preparing the meal and the final treat of eating all of the dishes prepared on the day.”

We have no doubts that Tampopo Cookery School is great for those who are looking for fun culinary classes. We surveyed their students, and most of them praised the playful learning environment thanks to their teachers’ enthusiasm and light energy.

They have several locations across the UK, with one conveniently located at Exchange Square in Manchester. On top of this, we commend that their customer service is also open 24 hours, giving students plenty of time to coordinate and plan their classes.

They offer classes for all levels of students, ensuring everyone from beginners to advanced cooks can join in. However, we learned that their services are limited to Asian dishes only, which may deter those seeking to learn other cuisines.

On a brighter note, we appreciate the inclusions in their classes: a welcome drink with churros and caramel sauce on arrival, a delicious three-course lunch with a drink of the student’s choice, a souvenir Tampopo apron, and a copy of all the recipes.

Lastly, we noted that they also offer halal options that make them stand out from other schools in the area.

Pros

  • Fun learning environment
  • Enthusiastic teachers
  • 24-hour customer service
  • Halal options

Cons

  • Limited to Asian cuisine only

Loved the enthusiasm

“I booked this experience as a friends birthday gift. We attended the lesson in the Trafford center. The lesson was taught by chef Ana who has so much love and enthusiasm for Malaysian cuisine. We truly learned so much and cannot wait to try the recipes at home. The lesson was filled with love, amazing food, and lots of laughter and I would recommend it for all, even for those who have little to no cooking experience. ”

Helped us feel comfortable

“Amazing experience, Anna the chef was really funny and lovely personality. Helps you feel comfortable and relaxed. Food is great and you get to eat what you make which is even better.”

The Cheshire Cookery School stood out to us since they offer courses on all types of cuisine, such as Asian, European, American, and even fusions. They also offer supplementary courses like knife skills and mixology.

Here, students can also book the entire venue, which is often used for team-building activities. For us, this makes it an excellent choice for corporate events and private parties.

We like that they are open six days a week to answer inquiries. However, we noticed that they have limited classes, with only two or three a week — a bit restrictive for busy learners.

Another downside that we discovered is that they are a bit inconvenient for those who will take public transportation, as they are a 16-minute walk away from the nearest stop at Navigation Street.

Nevertheless, for those who would bring their own vehicle, we trust that there shouldn’t be an issue as they have a dedicated parking spot available.

Pros

  • Diverse cuisine offerings
  • Ideal for group classes
  • Dedicated parking spot

Cons

  • Limited classes per week
  • Inconvenient for public transportation

Would definitely recommend

“My Dad and I attended the knife skills and master sauces class on Saturday 27th January and we had a great day. I have done other classes at the school as well and I would definitely recommend. I always learn a lot of tips and tricks that I can use in my everyday cooking at home. Rob in particular is super patient and has helped me a lot!”

Sophie Hilton, Google Review

Great team and facilities

“Booked an Italian Cookery class for me and my son and had a great day. Our chef was Rob Owen Brown – really good chef and teacher, who couldn’t do enough for us – the whole team were great as were the facilities. This was the first time I’d been to a cookery class and it was great to be able to ask questions and understand how I could improve my cooking.

Can’t believe we spent all day cooking! The time flew by…

Definitely worth the money and will be going back to do another course soon.”

As their name suggests, Chapattis n Curries’ culinary classes are quite limited. However, we’re impressed that they’re one of the most flexible schools when it comes to their teaching methods.

For instance, they offer 1:1 sessions, team building, groups, parties, and even at-your-kitchen options. Plus, our research also shows that they can adjust their lessons based on the skill level of the learner which ensures a personalised experience.

Sadly, they’re only open on weekends, which can be limiting to some. On top of this, it’s best to book your class in advance to secure your slots due to the limited availability.

Despite this, we’re happy to share that the students were pleased with the service they received here when we conducted a survey.

According to them, the staff members were efficient and highly knowledgeable which genuinely helped improve the cooking skills of their attendees.

As a bonus, we think it’s a nice touch that they teach students to cook food in big batches that can be taken home and shared with loved ones afterwards.

Pros

  • Flexible teaching methods
  • Personalised lessons
  • Efficient and knowledgeable staff

Cons

  • Limited culinary offerings
  • Open only on weekends
  • Advance booking required

High praises

“A fabulous session today, well structured  and informative. We have just eaten the curries we made this morning, and my son who knows his curries said it is restaurant standard, high praise indeed. We are hoping to do the onion Bhaji course in September.”

Germaine Luckas, Google Review

Super fun

“We had a wonderful team event with Yasmin. It was super fun, we learned a lot, and it was a great way to get to know each other. The chapattis and curries were delicious and there was something for everyone. Would highly recommend!”
