Pros
- Wide range of menu offerings
- Dishes are highly complimented by customers
- Attentive and accommodating staff
Cons
- Higher prices during football season
- Buffets and bottomless brunch foods aren’t as fresh as those from the a la carte menu
O’Neill’s Printworks is a cracking spot, boasting a lively atmosphere that warmly welcomes guests into a delightful setting adorned with exposed brick walls, carefully curated vintage decor, and comfy seating areas.
Furthermore, we love that they’re conveniently placed for a breeze of public transport, it caters to both locals and visitors alike.
Taking pride in its diverse menu, O’Neill’s showcases a wide selection of scrumptious dishes and beverages, underscoring a dedication to quality.
From what we’ve gathered from their patrons, booking in advance not only bags you a coveted spot but also throws in the bonus of a pre-ordered drink, with a deposit that you can cash in when settling the bill.
Another thing we love about them is that they have a complimentary shot at the bar—just scan a QR code and drop a review on their social media page. For us, this is a nice little touch for their customers to enjoy their stay.
Additionally, we’ve also heard a lot of compliments regarding their staff’s service levels. Most of the regulars we’ve surveyed mentioned that they’re always welcoming and attentive when it comes to their customers.
We love that this makes the overall experience with them all the better.
Now, let’s keep it real – some may reckon the prices are a bit steep, and vegetarians might find choices a tad limited. So, if you’re on a bit of a budget, it’s best to check out their menu online prior to visiting to make sure you’re not overspending.

Pros
- Lively ambiance
- Dishes are highly complimented by customers
- Offers vegan and vegetarian options
Cons
- Limited menu
- Some reports of inconsistent service quality
The Bierkeller is a haven for beer lovers on the lookout for a lively vibe, tasty German-inspired grub, and some cracking entertainment.
We love that the overall vibe of the place has rustic charm, decked out with wooden tables and traditional decor that’ll transport you straight to Munich’s iconic beer halls. For us, this makes them the perfect spot to kick back with the mates after a hectic day.
As for their menu offerings, their German-inspired nosh, like bratwurst and schnitzels are some of their crowd favourites according to the regulars we’ve surveyed.
Additionally, we also checked out their online menu for their prices. From what we’ve seen their entrees cost around £9 to £14 which is a steal considering their hefty portions.
We also want to highlight their sharing platters that serve up to four people. This will take you back around £35 but is still great considering the amount of food you get for that price.
Furthermore, they offer live sports and games packages. From what we’ve seen, the packages come with both food and drinks that you can enjoy while watching the live games on their TVs.
On the other hand, a notable downside that we’ve heard from some of their customers is the longer wait times during weekends. We think it’s best to reserve a spot in advance to dodge the wait.
Lastly, we love that patrons can customise the food and drinks that come in with their packages at no extra charge, making the overall dining experience much better!

Cons
- Limited seating

Right in the heart of the Quayside, Lime Bar & Restaurant scores big with its awesome location. We love the killer view of the waterfront, and we think this takes the dining experience up a notch.
It’s also worth noting that for those who prefer to take their own car with them, they have a parking space near Lowry outlet Mall which makes it convenient to stop by the bar.
Now, let’s talk grub – their menus are a real treat. Sushi and chicken katsu are the crowd favourites, proving Lime Bar is all about serving up a seriously tasty experience.
Furthermore, we also love that they have vegan and vegetarian options. For us, this means that groups will be able to have their preferences included.
We also appreciate the overall vibe of the bar—it’s got a cool touch of history. They have throwback pics featuring local rock legends from the ’90s and late ’80s that add a whole nostalgic vibe, making the place more inviting.
But, you know how it goes, every gem’s got its quirks. Some of the patrons we’ve talked to mentioned that some of their staff are a bit rude. In our opinion, this could ruin the whole experience.
Despite that tiny hiccup, though, Lime Bar & Restaurant is still our go-to for what they offer.

Pros

Cons
- Records of poor service levels
- Limited seating space available
The Flour & Flagon is a sports bar located in the city centre that’s all about the good vibes and friendly feels.
The first thing that we love about them is that they serve up a bunch of hearty British classics that won’t break the bank.
We’re talking traditional fish ‘n chips, juicy burgers. For us, this means they’re perfect for students watching their pennies or locals just hankering for some real-deal flavours.
Another highlight that we noticed about them is that they’ve listed down their allergens and nutrition right there on their website, and they keep it updated monthly.
This even applies to the buffet menu where they list down every calorie count per meal. We love that they’re all about making sure folks with allergies can pick their dishes with confidence.
That said, we do have to mention some lowlights, which is the wait time during busy hours. Since their location is near schools and universities, you can expect weekends to have long wait times.
We have to admit, though, that the overall look of the place is pretty basic compared to other establishments. Nonetheless, we think they deserve our recommendation for being the best budget-friendly option on our list.

Pros
- Offers pre-orders and reservations on their website
- Affordable menu prices
- Offers game night packages that are viewable on their website
Cons
- Facilities could be more well-kept
- Records of poor customer service
The Piccadilly Tavern is a sports bar located within the city centre, near Portland Street—a plus for accessibility!
Something we’d like to highlight about The Piccadilly Tavern is that the game schedules are available on their website. In fact, many patrons we surveyed also mentioned how this feature made things more convenient!
Additionally, we’re also impressed that The Piccadilly Tavern offers a wide range of dishes and drinks that customers can enjoy while watching their favourite teams.
We also want to highlight that their prices are considerably affordable. This is a big plus for us because this makes them a perfect option for those on a tight budget.
As for their service levels, we also liked that their customers highly praised their attentiveness and welcoming vibe. For us, this also benefits newcomers since it’ll make the overall experience worthwhile.
And guess what adds to the fun? Live music and pub quizzes, giving you that extra dose of entertainment.
Despite this, even a fave spot like this has its quirks. One, there’s not loads of space to park yourself, especially when it’s crowded. And two, it can get pretty loud – the lively atmosphere and all the chit-chat might make it a bit tricky for a quiet conversation.
