The Bulls Head has been around since 1786 so we knew that travellers who want to be immersed in the city’s culture would like this place.
It doubles as a traditional lively England pub where pints and delicious food are aplenty. They don’t feature a television in the pub so you won’t have to deal with rowdy football fans.
This pub also lets you get some quality food without leaving the building! They serve a variety of Western classics from burgers to steaks and anything in between.
It’s also fairly easy to get to since it sits a few steps away from Piccadilly Station. While you’re here, you can also get to nearby museums, restaurants and cafes easily.
One thing we didn’t like was their small rooms. Don’t get us wrong, each room was charming and featured all the amenities you’d need for a comfy stay but we felt like they were a bit too cramped.
Pros
- Doubles is a great pub that serves delicious food
- Clean rooms
- Accessible location
Cons
- Small rooms
Cheap, cheerful, clean and tidy
“Room was clean and tidy, ideal location for was place of work and close to Piccadilly station. Short walk into the city centre. Breakfast was different as you could take it back to your room where I could continue to work. Decent selection to choose from. If you want a 5-star hotel standard go to Dakota but this place is cheap cheerful clean and tidy.”

Very clean and comfortable
“Great place to stay. The rooms were small but well laid out. Very clean with comfortable bed x Breakfast was continental but plenty to choose from. Friendly staff. Great location to stay as it’s at the edge of the city centre, opposite Piccadilly station and close to Apollo theatre.”

The Diamond Lodge perfectly combines the warm and cosy ambience of cabins with the modernity and accessibility of hotels.
The rooms you’ll find here are superb, considering the cheap price point that they’re charging them for. They’re spacious and well-maintained while featuring essential amenities like Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and ensuite bathrooms.
They also offer free breakfast and this reason alone made us fall in deeper love with this place. The food they serve here is fresh and of high quality—pretty impressive for a cheap place to stay.
Its location is a double-edged sword, though. On one hand, it’s far away from the city centre to provide guests with a tranquil stay, but on the other hand, it’s hard to get to.
Finally, one thing we didn’t like was that the ambience was a bit “meh” This leads to it having a subpar atmosphere that isn’t too noticeable when you’re in your room but is more evident when you head outside.
Pros
- Free breakfast
- Spacious rooms
- Cheap rates
Cons
- Slightly outside the city centre
- Subpar ambience
Would definitely recommend it
“Surprisingly good! The room is nice with a very comfy bed. Clean bathroom with a strong shower. Bad is open till midnight. Friendly staff at the reception. Tasty breakfast. Plenty of parking even for a large van. Would definitely recommend it. 5star”

“Breakfast was a pleasant surprise”
“It’s not a 5-star hotel, but it deserves this rating for value for money alone. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise and included in the very reasonable room rate. Fittings are a little dated but perfectly acceptable to any right-minded individual. Stayed here to visit the new Co-op Live Stadium. Easy enough to use an Uber ride for the journey to and from.”

Luxurious Lodge – By Heaton Park is a small brick house located right beside a serene park so you can expect to be surrounded by stunning views there.
We love how this location provides a tranquil space for people looking to escape the city—without actually leaving!
One of its strongest suits is the cabin itself, as it screams cosiness. We immediately felt at home as soon as we entered its doors!
Another reason why we recommend Luxurious Lodge especially for families, is its complete set of just about everything. From BBQ facilities to complete bathroom amenities, fully-equipped kitchens, and spacious and clean bedrooms, you’ll have everything at your disposal for a comfy stay.
Our only gripe with this place is its slightly pricey rates. Although we could understand why they charge higher rates compared to others, it’s still worth noting here for people who are on a tight budget.
Pros
- Complete set of amenities and facilities
- Clean and well-maintained
- Great location
Cons
- Slightly pricey
Fantastic accommodation
“Fantastic accommodation, not too big not too small, cosy and warm, couldn’t fault it. Great location right near a beautiful park and less than 5 miles from the centre of Manchester”

Didsbury House Hotel is a 4-star hotel that takes the form of a traditional English house. It offers various rooms on different floors, with each one varying in design and size.
Our favourite room is the Opus Loft Suite, which is located on the uppermost floor and comes complete with a lavish en-suite toilet and bath.
Regardless of the room you book, though, you can expect to see the same classy design, set of amenities and homey vibe.
Didsbury House Hotel also features beautiful common spaces like a bar and lounge and walled terrace, which are both perfect for intimate gatherings
The only thing we didn’t like about Didsbury House Hotel was its expensive rates. However, we can say with confidence that you’ll be getting your money’s worth when choosing to stay here.
We also wished that it’s closer to the city centre so that travelling from and to different establishments would be a breeze.
Pros
- Cosy and warm ambience
- Beautifully-decorated rooms
- Complete set of amenities
- Can hold private events
Cons
- Expensive rates
- Located outside of Manchester’s city centre
10/10 points for everything
“I stayed at the hotel for a work visit. It is very tastefully done, spacious and very fresh. The staff were cheerful and welcoming- and upon swift check-in, I was shown to my room. The room was very spacious and clean.
The temperature and heating appear to be centrally controlled- so there are no individual thermostats in the room (which is completely fine).
The bar is nice and well-equipped for both cold and hot drinks. The restaurant also serves dinner (with limited options). The lounge of the hotel is so tastefully done and cosy.
The breakfast was served after the table- was hot- and delicious (vegan breakfast). There are also juice, water, and other small bits laid out for self-help. Coffee was promptly available upon asking.
All in all, it was a wonderful stay, and very comfortable, and I won’t hesitate to stay with them again. 10/10 points for everything.”

Would highly recommend it
“I had a lovely stay yesterday in room 25 and had a warm welcome from the staff. Grateful for the lovely touch in printing out my presentation notes. Would highly recommend it. I loved the fish and chips. Clean environment and had a lovely sleep.”

Arena House is located within minutes away from the Etihad Stadium, which is why it’s mostly preferred by avid Football fanatics.
The place itself is considered a 3-star hotel, but it’s more like a dormitory that features modern serviced apartments, and we mean that in the best way! Each room comes with fully-equipped kitchens, en-suite toilets and baths, flat-screen TVs and more.
Plus, it’s worth noting that each room is clean and well-maintained, which we highly appreciated during our stay.
Another aspect we want to highlight was their superb customer service. We had a fantastic stay, and the previous guests we surveyed shared how they felt at home because of the friendliness of their staff members.
We do wish that their rooms were bigger, though. Furthermore, we thought that the ambience of the rooms and the overall establishment itself wasn’t as cosy as we expected
Then again, it is one of the more affordable options near the city centre so we can’t really complain.
Pros
- Clean and well-maintained rooms
- Great location
- Friendly customer service
- Cheap rates
Cons
- Lacklustre ambience
- Slightly small rooms
Really clean and comfortable
“Stayed here to see Eagles at Co-op Live. About a 20-minute walk from the venue. Booked single room with shared bathroom and double with en suite. Really clean and comfortable. Double was a generous size. Recommended.”

Superb stay, highly recommended!
“Had a one-night stay, residential home turned Airbnb. Room with ensuite. The host was super welcoming and accommodating. The room was very well presented with thoughtful amenities and likewise with the ensuite facilities. Superb stay, highly recommend!”
