Artist Music School is a great bang-for-your-buck option for instrumental lessons. It offers in-depth lessons for aspiring drummers, pianists, guitarists and more and the best part is that they offer them at reasonable prices.

You can choose to enrol in either 45-minute or hour-long sessions, which are both great for beginners and those with a bit of experience. If you want to take things further, you can enrol your kids in a class with the school’s director, which is the most in-demand class.

The tutors are also worth highlighting, as they’re super efficient and knowledgeable with their respective instruments. They’re also said to be great with kids, providing a comfortable learning environment.

The school also regularly joins contests to provide exposure for their students. Throughout the years, the “Artist Team” has bagged multiple medals.

We aren’t a fan of the operating hours though, as they open late in the afternoon.

Pros

  • Amazing selection of programmes
  • Talented teachers
  • Full set of facilities

Cons

  • Pricey rates

Inspires you to enjoy every moment of learning!

“An outstanding Music School with qualified, experienced and friendly teachers, who are passionate about working with children, building up great relationships with parents/carers and working together to support their children to achieve their music goals.

An individual music lesson is planned to help everyone to reach their best potential. An excellent and happy learning environment that inspires you to enjoy every moment of learning!

I’m glad to make the right choice for my daughter,  she loves learning her piano lesson here! I definitely recommend you to learn music here and I believe that you will never regret it!!!”

Teachers are enthusiastic, talented and knowledgeable

“Had a wonderful experience at Artist Music School. The teachers are enthusiastic, talented, knowledgeable, polite and friendly.  It is a fun school.

My kid loves it and loves her tutors. There is no whining or dragging her feet to go like with some other activities. If we could swing it, I know she’d be happy to go multiple times a week!

The recitals also are very special, showcasing all ages and skill levels among the school’s students in a warm and friendly environment. Would recommend this school to everybody looking for an opportunity to grow their musical talent!”

Anthem Music School is the perfect choice for those who want to get started on their musical journey. They offer in-depth instrumental lessons for people looking to learn guitars, keys and drums.

These lessons are provided by their world-class roster of teachers, each of whom has mastered one or two of the aforementioned instruments. Parents have highlighted one of their piano teachers, Sophie, for providing a relaxing environment for their students.

The lessons can be structured differently per student. For instance, they could offer fun lessons or serious ones that cater to those focusing on completing grade exams.

They also provide two huge shows each year where students can showcase their skills and gain exposure from potential agents! Also, it’s a great way for students to test the waters on performing in front of a live audience.

They could improve upon the variety of instruments that they offer lessons for because at the time of writing, they only offer three. Nonetheless, they’re great lessons!

Pros

  • Flexible courses
  • Talented teachers
  • Opportunities to perform
  • Offers free trial

Cons

  • Only offers lessons for three instruments

Very helpful and supportive

“Anthem provides several instrumental tutors for the music department I run in a secondary school.  I just want to say how amazing all the teachers that we have at the minute are.

All are very different, but all are focused on getting the best out of the children and are very helpful and supportive of the department as a whole. So much so that many are asking for double-length lessons.

Thank you for all your support and looking forward to building, even more, come September with exceptionally high GCSE uptake (in part attributed to the high level of tuition provided by Anthem)”

Everyone was having the best time

“My daughter attends piano and singing lessons and absolutely loves it. Her confidence has grown since she began her lessons and she has taken part in shows demonstrating her new skills. She has just completed a week-long music summer school.

The staff were extremely caring and encouraging to all children and it was clear to see that everyone was having the best time. My daughter was so excited every morning to attend the summer school and even had a little cry when it was over.

I can’t recommend this music school enough.”

Rubato Music Centre offers introductory lessons for a variety of instruments, from piano to guitar, cello and more. These lessons can either come in in-person or online sessions for those who don’t want to leave their homes but still want to get quality lessons.

They offer monthly or per-term lessons (4 months), with each session lasting 40 minutes. Personally, we’d recommend the monthly sessions for 12 months, as they offer better value for money compared to the one-term lessons.

The teachers are worth mentioning too, as they’re well-versed in their instruments and they offer a relaxing environment for their students to learn.

It’s not as big and fancy as other music schools, but we find that its smaller scale allows its teachers to conduct more intimate sessions with their students.

Of course, this smaller scale also poses some cons like the lack of facilities compared to actual music schools. Furthermore, we felt that the lessons and courses they offered here were a bit limited.

Pros

  • Reasonable prices
  • Intimate sessions
  • Talented teachers
  • Offers online lessons

Cons

  • Subpar facilities
  • Lack of variety with its  programmes/courses

Really good teachers

“My daughter has been learning to play the piano at Rubato Music for the last 6 months. Coco and Anna are really good teachers.

They are both really patient and always have fun & interactive methods to help her learn. I’m really happy with how good she is at playing in such a short time and I’m excited to see how far she gets over time ”

Raymond Foster, Google Review

Teachers are friendly and enthusiastic

“My 10-year-old son started piano lessons at Rubato for over a year as a beginner. The music centre has a beautiful grand piano that students learn and practice on.

The teachers are friendly and enthusiastic. This encourages my son to practice at home which has definitely helped with his progress.”

Maunders School of Popular Music is one of the go-to choices for aspiring musicians because of its fantastic musical lessons. They can cater to those who have experience and want to hone their skills or even those who just picked up an instrument.

They feature an impressive roster of teachers, each of whom specialises in a specific musical instrument. Each student is paired with a specific teacher for the entire session so that they can always pick up where they left off.

What’s more impressive is they get to offer these teachers and lessons at reasonable prices. Depending on your budget and need, you can either anywhere between single 30-minute workshops or 10x 60-minute lessons.

They could improve upon the variety of lessons they provide because as of the time of writing, they only offer limited instrumental and vocal lessons.

Also, the school is located outside of the city centre, so it can be difficult to reach.

Pros

  • Affordable prices
  • Great selection of instrumental lessons
  • Talented teachers

Cons

  • Expensive rates
  • Located just outside of Manchester’s city centre

Excellent teacher and musician

“Been having guitar lessons with Neil for a few months and the experience is thoroughly enjoyable. He teaches the genres, bands and songs I want to learn at my pace and tailors the lessons to suit my needs.

The environment is very professional and relaxed with a vast selection of equipment and resources. Neil is an excellent teacher and musician and I would highly recommend him and his staff to anybody looking for music lessons from beginners to more experienced players.”

John Kenyon, Google Review

Nothing but praise

“Starting taking guitar lessons from Neil a few months ago and have nothing but praise to give. He is friendly and professional and offers students a positive environment to learn and grow.

The limited interactions I’ve had with the other teachers have also been positive and they all seem friendly also.

My first time even touching a guitar was only a few months ago and now I can play a few songs, know some chords and have generally been enjoying the journey.”

Gasser Music Studio is the perfect choice if you want to learn piano, as it uses all its resources to focus on teaching students this particular instrument.

It offers both in-person and online piano lessons that can either range from 30 minutes to 45 minutes or one hour depending on your skills and budget. We recommend the one-hour sessions for beginners, as they’ll help you save more money in the long run.

Regardless of which you choose, you can rest assured you’re in good hands as both its tutors are graduates of the Royal Northern College of Music.

The school also holds three concerts a year for students to gain confidence in performing in front of a live audience, most especially their loved ones.

The only downside of this school is that it limits its lessons to aspiring pianists only, which could limit its target audience. But if you’re only looking for piano lessons, then this should be perfect!

Pros

  • Professional tutors
  • Offers online lessons
  • Reasonable prices

Cons

  • Only offers piano lessons

Truly impressive

“Before my daughter began her piano learning journey, we tried trial lessons with various teachers. Greta stood out as her preferred instructor, despite Gasser Music Studio being the farthest location (an hour’s drive from home).

Trusting my daughter’s choice has been rewarding; Greta’s boundless patience and enthusiasm ensure a joyful and fun learning process for her students.

Greta’s ability to tailor her lessons to our daughter’s age and learning style is truly impressive too, as this has proven successful in helping my daughter to pass her exam with flying colours.

We wholeheartedly recommend her to any parent seeking a nurturing and skilled piano teacher for their little one.”

Could not wish for a more positive person!

“Greta has been teaching me for about a year now, and she has been a total delight – enthusiastic, encouraging, always upbeat, and of course, incredibly talented.

If you are an older beginner like me, you could not wish for a more positive person to coax, support, and when you need it, sometimes push you along your learning journey! I cannot recommend her highly enough.”
