The 10 Tastiest Pad Thai Bites in Manchester for Your Next Flavour-Filled Stop

Sometimes, when we’re hankering for a bite, we want something a little different. By that, we mean something aside from the usual Mancunian fare, and something with more flavour – something Thai, maybe? Maybe some pad Thai?

After all, what’s not to love about pad Thai? It’s the quintessential Thai dish for a reason! The mix of sweet and salty flavours really stays on your tongue even after you’ve finished the last noodle. It definitely did for us the first time we tried it on a Bangkok vacation!

Ever since then, we’ve been scouring the streets of Manchester, looking for places that can satisfy our craving. Luckily, Manchester has become home to lots of great Thai restaurants that serve some of the best pad Thai!

So, join us as we walk you through some of our favourite spots! Once you’ve tried out even just one of these places, you’ll always be coming back for more!

If you want authentic Thai food, this family-run restaurant could be just the one for you! They might be a small business, but they’ve been running it for over thirty years.

Their pad Thai is fresh and flavourful, but it’s not overloaded with unnecessary garnish—just the basics like chicken and vegetables. In here, it’ll be the closest you can get to taking a bite out of some real classic-style pad Thai!

Try the Phad Thai, particularly the mixed meat one or the vegetarian and tofu one. Their noodles for this classic dish were simply amazing to chew on and slurp up.

Plus, it’s great when eaten with the Panang Curry, as the two dishes can complement each other’s flavours while still balancing them.

Pro tip:
Want a drink to go with your food? Then you can BYOB! For a small corkage fee, you can enjoy some of your own alcohol or liquor from home while taking a bite out of their pad thais and chicken satays.

For every bite at Chilli Banana Thai at Mackie Mayor, you’ll feel a bit of a connection with Chef May herself.

The dishes here are inspired by various dishes from May’s childhood memories of cooking with her mother, so the pad Thai here was prepared with a personal touch.

The menu here also changes regularly, and you’ll also find lesser-known street foods and lots of experimental dishes. But if there’s one thing constant here, besides the love in the cooking, it’s the fact that they always have pad Thai on the menu!

Order the King Prawn Pad Thai whenever it’s available, because you can’t go wrong with the mix of vegetables and seafood in that dish! It also has that slight crunch to it that makes it all the more satisfying to finish, and it pairs well with peanut or tamarind sauce.

Pro tip:
If you’re dining with a group of eight or more, you’ll have to contact Mackie Mayor to make a booking

Their main focus in each dish is balancing the tastes of the condiments and the ingredients, making sure that one doesn’t overpower the other. The result is a great blend between modern and traditional cooking.

If you’re looking for a specific dish or two to order, might we point you to their Pad Thai with a side of their Chicken Satay? The combo has enough meat and veggies for a proper and delicious lunch.

My Thai is a shack-style restaurant that looks like something out of your usual fast-food diner. But don’t let the laid-back setting or affordable menu prices fool you, as they serve every dish here fresh and fast!

The Ba Mee Moo Dang noodle dish is a must-order here, plus the Bangkok Pad Thai with eggs and vegetables—these are fan-favourites for good reason. The noodles were easy to slurp up and delicious to taste, and the eggs and vegetables were well-cooked.

We must say that they have a way of making vegetables appealing for even non-veggie lovers!

Pro tip:
If you have accessibility issues, do not choose the Northern Quarter branch. You’ll have to walk upstairs to get on the premises.

The food here is cooked from the freshest ingredients that the chefs have on hand, and they don’t leave you waiting for each dish! Plus, you get the bonus of watching your delicious food being made right in front of your eyes!

Their Chicken Spring Roll and their Pad Thai were our favourite dishes, and the freshness of the ingredients made the flavours even better. Plus, it helped that they were good at portioning the dishes, so we didn’t feel too bloated or unsatisfied.

Pro tip:
Want another great dish of theirs aside from pad Thai or chicken spring rolls? Their pork satay is a great second choice for a go-to order, or as a side to either of our recommended dishes!

At Thai Kitchen No. 6, you might find yourself surprised by how good some of their dishes are. Who knew that even dry chicken dishes could be so flavourful? Or that you could get a real kick out of combining sweet and spicy dishes?

Their pad Thai is on the sweet side, and it’s something that you’d either love or hate at first bite. Our verdict? We loved it—just ask for more tamarind sauce if you feel like having more tang.

The Fried Chinese Dumplings are a must-order when you get the pad Thai, by the way. The crunchiness of both dishes helps savour the flavours, and they leave a real zing in your mouth. Plus, you can’t go wrong with that stir-fried combo goodness!

Thai Spice’s menu is filled with lots of curry and noodle dishes, so you’ll have a diverse range of combinations to choose from. And if you pay attention to the spice levels on each dish, you can choose to have your meal be spiciness galore!

Our favourite dishes here are the Spicy Beef Salad (Yum Neua) and, of course, their Phad Thai! Both tasted fresh and delicious, plus they had great ingredient combos!

When paired together, you won’t feel too overwhelmed by the spiciness of the Beef Salad since the noodles of their pad Thai balance it out.

If you’re dining here on a Saturday, head on early to get a table as they’re a popular choice for weekend diners.

Getting a bite out of even one dish here will treat you to a wonderful array of textures and flavours. It’s great if you’re looking for Thai dishes that have a good balance between silky and crunchy, or sweet and savoury.

To get a good idea of this kind of balance, get their Chicken Pad Thai with a side of the Por Pia Sod Goong prawn rolls. The mix of different meats with noodles and vegetables will have you returning here!

Pro tip:
With their new boba tea drinks, you might want to order takeaways from here. They can make for a great picnic lunch!

Menu

Right in the centre of Manchester, you’ll find this humble counter-serve restaurant that cooks up Thai dishes for people on the go! Their dishes are cooked from fresh halal-friendly ingredients, so there’s no need to worry over every bite you take.

Their pad Thai, in particular, is mildly spicy but balanced with a light fruity flavour. It’s a good option if you’re planning on expanding your palate but don’t want to overwhelm your taste buds!

And if you’re looking for another dish to expand your palate, we recommend their Thai Fish Cake as a sort of “starter” to your meal. Its mild salty flavour pairs well with the slight spice in the Pad Thai, and it won’t fill you up too much before you get to the main dish!

Pro tip
Be quick when getting your orders; the food here is purely takeout, and it can get pretty busy on weekdays!

Thaikhun

Menu

On a budget and also in a hurry while you’re on your pad thai craving? Thaikhun could be the restaurant to go to! You can get lots of great street food bites from this place, and all for affordable prices!

And like every Thai restaurant, they’ve got Pad Thai on the menu! It’s even “The Star of The Show”, and comes in three different versions: chicken, tofu, or vegan chicken. We suggest getting the chicken one since their meat dishes are mouth-wateringly good.

To get in on more of that noodle-y goodness, we’d suggest also ordering the Legendary KSG along with the Pad Thai. Unlike the Pad Thai, it’s served curry style and has a bit of spice to it, which can add a bit of a kick to your meal.

Pro tip
Indecisive, but you also want to have a quick lunch? Pick their “Can’t Decide!” menu option instead. The staff will pick out a set menu of dishes for you instead, and all for the price of one!
