5 Best Permanent Makeup Studios in Manchester for a Polished Look

  • Practitioner Expertise: I checked qualifications, experience, and advanced training. More specialised artists scored higher.
  • Health and Safety: Patch tests and proper cosmetic pigments were non-negotiables. No shortcuts here.
  • Treatment Versatility: I favoured artists who can handle both natural strokes and machine shading. One-trick brows didn’t impress us.
  • Clinic Environment: Clean, calm, private spaces scored best. Nobody needs extra nerves before a needle comes out.
  • Pricing Value: I looked for clear prices, sensible top-ups, and no sneaky extras. Skill should match the spend.

I’m the sort who only truly trusts my face after a professional’s had a go at it. Sadly, hiring a makeup artist for the morning commute isn’t exactly practical.

That’s where the best permanent makeup in Manchester earns its keep. Brows, liner, and lip colour can stay looking polished without the daily faff.

I checked out standout studios across the city for skill, style, and overall experience. Consider this your shortcut to looking more done-up before the kettle’s even boiled!

How much does permanent makeup cost in Manchester?

Permanent makeup in Manchester generally costs £150 to £450 for an initial treatment. The final price depends on the procedure and clinic.

Eyebrow treatments such as microblading, ombré, or powder brows typically cost £150 to £350.

Lip blush or a full lip tint usually costs £200 to £400.

Eyeliner treatments range from around £150 to £300. This covers anything from subtle lash enhancement to more defined winged styles.

It’s worth checking whether a follow-up or top-up session is included in the quoted price.

1. Melissa Smart Beauty & Ink

melissa-smart-beauty-ink

Website

Address: 9 Fairview Cl, Chadderton, Oldham

Contact: 07789292739

Hours: Tuesday, 9:30 AM – 3 PM | Wednesday, 10 AM – 7:30 PM | Thursday, 10 AM – 8:30 PM | Friday, 10 AM – 4 PM | Saturday, 11 AM – 3 PM

I’m all for a beauty treatment that makes me look polished without requiring a full glam squad. Melissa maps and pre-draws the brows first, so there’s far less chance of leaving with a shape you’ll regret by tea time.

Her private Chadderton studio keeps things calm, cosy, and nicely away from the salon bustle. That makes brow and lip-blush appointments feel a bit more relaxed and a lot less conveyor-belt.

The overall style leans soft and tailored rather than shouty. Colour and shape are planned around the individual, which is exactly what you want when the results are sticking around.

The only catch is that spontaneity gets binned. Semi-permanent makeup needs a patch test at least 24 hours beforehand, so same-day glam isn’t really on the cards.

Pros

  • Detailed brow mapping and pre-drawing before treatment
  • Private, relaxed home-studio setting in Chadderton
  • Bespoke approach to colour and shape
  • Natural-looking style rather than overly dramatic results
  • Patch testing required before semi-permanent makeup

Cons

  • Semi-permanent makeup appointments need planning at least 24 hours ahead

Relaxing Studio and Expert Guidance

This was the first time booking at Melissa Smart Beauty and Ink. I’ve contemplated having permanent make-up for a while but have always been a little nervous. Melissa went through all the information and has lots of images and videos of clients to get insight into the style you’re searching for. I booked in, and I’m so glad I did. The studio is cosy and relaxing.

Natural Looking Brows and Professional Service

I recently had combination eyebrow permanent makeup, and I’m really pleased with the results. The mix of natural hairstrokes and soft shading gives my brows a fuller but still natural look.

The technician was professional and took time to shape my brows to suit my face. The procedure was pretty comfortable, and healing was quick. Now my brows look defined every day without needing makeup.

I’d definitely recommend this treatment to anyone wanting low-maintenance, natural-looking brows.

2. Bellissimi Beauty

Hours: By appointment

I’m firmly in the camp that permanent makeup should make people wonder why you look so fresh, not what you’ve had done. Simi’s work leans towards that softer, polished end of the spectrum.

With more than a decade in makeup, she brings a proper beauty-eye to microblading. Her fine-stroke technique is designed to mimic natural brow hairs and fill sparse areas without looking too heavy.

The whole approach feels very much less-is-more, with treatments shaped around the individual rather than one brow template for everyone. That’s a big plus if you want subtle definition instead of a dramatic overhaul.

The catch is that bold-PMU fans may find the aesthetic too restrained. Bellissimi Beauty is better suited to natural enhancement than statement brows or heavily saturated results.

Pros

  • More than a decade of makeup experience
  • Microblading uses fine strokes for a natural brow effect
  • Personalised approach rather than one-size-fits-all shaping
  • Strong focus on subtle, polished enhancement
  • Appointment-only setup can suit clients wanting a more tailored visit

Cons

  • Less suited to anyone wanting very bold or heavily saturated permanent makeup
  • Appointment-only scheduling may require a bit more planning

Professional Service and Perfect Results

Simi is very professional. I always feel so much more confident when I leave her studio; the make-up is always perfect.  I have also had other treatments such as microblading, facial and spray tans; again the service was fantastic.  I would highly recommend her.

If I’m trusting someone with pigment and my face, I want serious experience behind the needle.

Hazel brings nearly two decades in the industry, plus Harrods training, which gives the clinic a reassuringly polished feel.

The treatment menu goes well beyond brows and lips. Scar camouflage, areola restoration, scalp micropigmentation, and correction work make this one of the more technically varied options around Manchester.

I particularly like that the clinic handles both cosmetic and medical-style micropigmentation rather than sticking to beauty trends alone. That broader skill set makes it a strong shout if your needs are a bit more specialised.

The downside is availability. Treatment slots can involve a wait of several weeks, and touch-ups may cost more if you miss the recommended top-up window.

Pros

  • Nearly two decades of industry experience
  • Harrods-trained practitioner
  • Offers both cosmetic and medical micropigmentation
  • Covers scar camouflage, areola restoration, and scalp micropigmentation
  • Provides correction and removal work for existing PMU

Cons

  • Treatment slots can involve a wait of several weeks
  • Retouches may cost more if you miss the recommended top-up window

Incredible Detail and Natural Results

I honestly couldn’t be happier with my new hyper-realistic brows from Award-Winning Hazel Diamond Clinics! Having already used Hazel for my semi-permanent eyeliner, I felt completely at ease. The new salon at Lloyd Street, Manchester is beautiful, spotless, and so welcoming.

Hazel’s attention to detail is incredible, and the results have exceeded all my expectations. My brows look so natural and perfectly shaped. Since losing my eyebrows to alopecia, I have always been conscious of my brows and lashes- not anymore! I’ve already had so many compliments.

If I’m letting someone near my brows or lips with a needle, I want proper training behind it.

Helen Walker has advanced permanent makeup qualifications and trained one-to-one with Katy Jobbins.

She’s particularly strong on corrective work, which is handy if previous PMU hasn’t aged quite as gracefully as hoped. Pigments are custom blended to suit your colouring, with consultation and a top-up included in standard treatments.

I like that Helen has worn permanent makeup herself since 2004. It gives the whole service a more knowing, client-first feel rather than a purely technical one.

The catch is the booking commitment. You’ll need to pay a £50 non-refundable deposit, so changing your mind could sting almost as much as the treatment.

Pros

  • Advanced permanent makeup qualifications
  • One-to-one training with Katy Jobbins
  • Offers corrective work for previous PMU
  • Custom-blended pigments to suit individual colouring
  • Consultation and top-up included with standard treatments
  • Helen has worn permanent makeup herself since 2004

Cons

  • £50 non-refundable deposit required to secure a booking

Amazing Service and Beautiful Results

I’m so happy with my new brows I can’t stop looking in the mirror! Helen’s been absolutely amazing – professional, informative, and never pushy. She made me feel completely at ease throughout the whole process and explained everything clearly from the initial consultation and all through the appointment. I’ve been thinking about getting my brows done for years and had always put it off, but I’m so glad I finally went for it after seeing others’ before-and-afters on the business’s website and Instagram. The results are beautiful and so worth it. Highly recommend Helen to anyone considering permanent eyebrows ☺️

Talented Professional and Comfortable Experience

I had an amazing experience with Helen; she is truly talented and professional. From the moment I arrived, she made me feel comfortable and walked me through every step of the permanent makeup process. Her attention to detail and passion for her work really show in the results. I’m absolutely in love with how it turned out!

I highly recommend her to anyone considering permanent makeup. She’s not only an expert in her craft, but also kind, patient, and dedicated to making her clients feel their best. Thank you so much! 💕

5. Cosmetic Tattoo Clinic

Address: 217, The Box Works, 4 Worsley St

Hours: Monday-Tuesday, 10 AM – 5 PM | Wednesday, 10 AM – 3 PM | Friday-Saturday, 10 AM – 5 PM

I’m a sucker for brows that look polished without screaming fresh tattoo. Cosmetic Tattoo Clinic specialises in powder and ombré styles, with treatments planned around your features and preferences.

Founder Cara brings a very tailored approach rather than pushing one brow shape on everyone. You can book a free consultation first, which is handy if you’d rather chat through the look before committing.

The clinic runs accredited SPMU training too, so there’s a strong technical side behind the beauty work. Course support and starter kits make the academy side feel more substantial than a quick certificate-and-good-luck setup.

The catch is the booking policy. Treatments are non-refundable, and cancellations need at least 72 hours’ notice, so this isn’t one to book on a whim.

Pros

  • Specialises in powder and ombré brow techniques
  • Customised treatment planning around individual features
  • Free consultations available before booking
  • Founder-led approach
  • Runs accredited SPMU training
  • Training courses include starter kits and ongoing support

Cons

  • Treatments are non-refundable
  • Cancellations require at least 72 hours’ notice
  • Initial top-ups need to be completed within the clinic’s stated timeframe

Flawless Microblading Lasts For Years

I find Cara friendly, kind and a thorough professional. She did my eyebrow microblading a couple of years back, and then I moved to London for some personal reason. I got a chance to see another make-up artist in London this week to see if I needed a touch-up after 2 years. The first thing she asked was who did my microblading previously, as she was highly impressed with the work Cara did. The London semi permanent make up artist told me that my eyebrows still looked perfect after 2 years and Cara had done an amazing and flawless job.
