Pros

  • Wide range of games available
  • Lively ambiance
  • Offers lots of discounts and packages

Cons

  • Limited seating space
  • Issues on cleanliness
  • Menu isn’t available on their website

1UP Gaming Bar is considered by many locals as one of the city’s havens for the gaming community.

The first thing that we love about them is the overall ambience of the establishment which is designed with gamers in mind. We think that this plays a big role in adding to the overall experience with them.

We also love how they host an array of options like classic consoles like arcades, pinball, and board games. They even have Dungeons & Dragons and Pokémon cards!

Another aspect we’d like to highlight is their staff. We appreciate their expertise, friendliness, and passion for gaming. According to the regulars we spoke with, the staff’s infectious energy contributes significantly to the immersive environment.

As for their offerings, we appreciate that 1UP Gaming Bar offers surprisingly affordable bottled beers and spirits which only cost £10 for two. Also, we like that they offer customised drinks that add up to the thrill!

That said, we do have to mention that there are some lowlights, even with our stellar experience.

For one, there are occasional reports of strong cigarette smell in specific spots, like booths and gaming areas. This may be a deal-breaker for non-smokers because it may ruin the experience.

Secondly, there were also some complaints regarding the cleanliness of the establishment, especially during peak hours. We think this can be a bit inconvenient because it means extra wait time for customers.

Despite these small hiccups, we’re still positive about them because of the unique experience they offer. In our books, 1UP Gaming Bar is perfect for those who love the nostalgia of retro arcade days.

Pros

  • Affordable drinks and dishes
  • Offers venue for hire
  • Hosts beer pong tournaments
  • Late closing times

Cons

  • Limited seating space
  • Usually fully booked during peak seasons

Twenty Twenty-Two is well-known for being a ping-pong venue within the city, but we’re impressed to find that they also offer beer-pong events that are perfect for both small and large groups.

There are multiple reasons why we included them in our list.

First, we loved that they offer a diverse beverage selection, which includes an array of beers, spirits, and cocktails, all reasonably priced, with pints starting at just £3.

For us, it means that customers and potential patrons can enjoy more without breaking the bank, which is always a big plus.

Second, even though Twenty Twenty-Two is known for its ping pong events, they also offer events for beer pong.

One of which is the weekly Challenge the Bartender event held on Thursday nights making it a fun-filled night-out experience.

Additionally, we especially like how their staff stands out for their welcoming demeanour and commendable product knowledge. This means that even first-timers won’t feel left out of all of the events and offerings that they have.

As for the downsides, we have a few bones to pick. For one, the place can get crowded pretty fast because of their popularity and limited opening times.

Second, their lively atmosphere isn’t for groups that are looking for a more intimate set-up.

Despite its minor drawbacks, though, we think Twenty Twenty Two has masterfully balanced fun and sophistication. We say they’re specially crafted for locals and tourists alike.

Pros

  • Lively atmosphere
  • Wide range of beer pong choices available
  • Diverse drink menu
  • Offers and prices are available on their website

Cons

  • Limited seating space
  • Issues on temperature and cleanliness
  • Limited food offerings

Pong & Puck is one of the city’s most popular beer-pong places, and we think we can  attribute this to their diverse offerings – and this is exactly what we love about them!

What impressed us further, though, is that they not only have beer-pong. They also offer prosecco-pong and cocktail-pong, which we think is a unique spin from the usual.

As for their prices, we appreciate that they’re upfront about their packages. One of their standout beer-pong packages is their Sparkle and Sleigh, which costs £30, and we also found that this is also their best selling package—for good reason!

In our books, this package gives customers great value for their hard-earned quid, as it already includes a one-hour game, with welcome drinks and a pizza platter for sharing. The only caveat is that it requires a minimum of 8 people.

We also appreciate that they have a prosecco-pong package that costs the same, which is perfect for wine lovers.

That said, we just wish they had more food offerings to balance out their drink menu. We were disappointed that their only viands are pizzas, which is limiting for those looking for more.

Another issue that came up during our visit was the varying temperature and cleanliness of the establishment. In our opinion, these may affect the overall experience and might even be a deal-breaker for some.

We must mention as well that the overall space is pretty small, so it can get crowded real quick especially during weekends. Even so, with these minor snags, we still think Pong & Puck is a solid choice because of the great things that they offer.

Pros

  • Wide range of activities offered
  • Hosts events for both small and large groups
  • Packages for activities are available on their website
  • PWD friendly

Cons

  • Only has unisex comfort rooms
  • Can work on the cleanliness of their establishment

Boom Battle Bar is another bar that offers multiple drinking games for those looking for an exciting night out in the city.

What initially amazed us was their beer-pong packages. We like that they have clear offerings, and even before visiting their location, customers can see what to expect just by visiting their website.

Boom Battle Bar’s Beer / Prosecco Pong package attracted us with their £30 rate, which already includes 45 minutes of playing time, 4 digital beer pong tables, and 1 beer or cider.

We also appreciate that the pitcher of beer can be swapped out for a bottle of prosecco, which is great for non-beer drinkers.

Another plus for us is that their packages do not require a minimum number of people, and can accommodate from one to 6 persons.

We also want to highlight the other activities that Boom Battle Bar offers, such as virtual axe throwing, darts, shuffleboard and more.

We love that they offer a lot of diversity when it comes to their offerings because this means that customers won’t run out of fun activities to enjoy when visiting them.

On the other hand, what we’re a bit iffy about is the less-than-ideal cleanliness of their establishment.

From our surveys, many have complained about Boom Battle Bar’s unisex comfort rooms. They also claimed that the establishment could do a better job at making sure their space is spotless.

The way we see it, it can be a deal-breaker for those who want to stay longer because this might raise some concerns regarding the hygienic state of the establishment.

Overall, we still like Boom Battle Bar for all the good stuff they offer. We think they’re a solid option for a fun place with lots to do.

Pros

  • Lively atmosphere
  • Excellent service levels
  • Offers variety of activities

Cons

  • Limited seating space
  • Large groups are required to book ahead of time
  • Records of inconsistent service levels

7Sins is a unique basement bar that offers numerous activities including shuffleboard, pool, arcade games, darts and beer pong.

Just a couple of minutes by foot from Stevenson Square, they’re one of the city’s most popular places for post-work drinks.

We also love their technicolour grown-up playground-themed interiors that go well with their bar games. We think this adds to the overall fantastic vibe of the place.

Speaking of their bar games, we found that they offer an array of choice, from beer pong to pool tables and darts. In our books, this aspect is a plus for customers seeking variety.

Sadly, we noted that the service levels here are a bit of a hit-or-miss. On the one hand, most of the regulars we’ve talked to praise how the lively and accommodating staff contributes to the overall positive atmosphere.

On the other hand, we’re a bit iffy to find that some of the first-timers here have encountered rude staff members that negatively affected their overall experience.

Finally, we appreciate that 7Sins can cater to large groups of up to fifteen people, provided that reservations are made beforehand. We think this makes them a good choice for those that want a private space for their groups during their gatherings.
