Pros

  • Beautiful view
  • Mobile app for delivery
  • Extensive menu
  • Quick customer service

Cons

  • Early closing time
  • Expensive selection

Something that caught our attention initially about The White Hart is that it’s literally perched atop the hill. We love how they treat their diners to breathtaking views that elevate the dining experience!

Inside the restaurant, the atmosphere isn’t that bad either. We were taken in by the lovely and cosy, Old English-style interiors!

During our visit, we were spoilt for choice with their extensive drink selection, ranging from cask ales to tantalising cocktails. On top of this, we also liked their set menu.

Here, the Estrella-battered haddock and succulent ribeye with onion rings, plum tomatoes and portobello mushrooms were clear standouts for us for their delicious taste and beautiful plating.

Unfortunately, we believe that it’s worth noting that their prices lean towards the higher end. In fact, a meal here can go as high as £40 per person.

Furthermore, we think that their earlier closing times compared to neighbouring establishments may deter late diners. Luckily, they have a mobile application for delivery that compensates for their accessibility hiccups.

On a more positive note, they have commendable customer service here. Additionally, the waiter assigned to our table served our meal quickly and all follow-up requests were also addressed right away.

Pros

  • Authentic Italian dishes
  • Knowledgeable staff members
  • Convenient location

Cons

  • Expensive selection
  • Late opening
  • No in-house delivery

Mazzo is a well-loved restaurant, popular for their authentic Italian dishes. We believe that this is the place to be for those who are craving high-quality pasta and pizza while exploring Oldham.

Just note that their prices may verge on the higher side with an average meal costing between £30 to £40. However, we think that the exceptional standard of their dishes more than compensates for the expense.

We tried their selection and we were impressed by their pizza piccante and penne al pesto. Additionally, they also have noteworthy desserts, such as the classic Tiramisu and the decadent Torta di Chocolate that provided a sweet conclusion to our meal.

We’re not going to lie about struggling a bit since their menu is written in Italian. Thankfully, their knowledgeable staff patiently explained their selection, helping us find the perfect food pairings.

Another good thing about them is that they are conveniently situated right along Radcliffe Street  — making them easy to locate. Although, we’re a bit iffy that they don’t offer breakfast as they open their doors at noon.

We’re also let down that they don’t have in-house delivery services — although, we were later on relieved to find that customers can order meals through third-party couriers.

Overall, we still think Mazzo is worth the visit for the quality of their dishes and customer service.

Pros

  • Long operating hours
  • Accessible location
  • Click-and-collect service
  • Inclusive and affordable menu

Cons

  • Issues of slow serving time

Molino Lounge caught our attention for their accessibility. We appreciate their extensive operating hours that give customers ample time to pop in from morning till late at night.

Plus, they’re situated on Yorkshire Street, which makes them easy to locate. In fact, we were delighted to find that they’re only a 2-minute walk away from Oldham Central Station.

And while they lack an in-house delivery service, we think that their click-and-collect option adds a layer of convenience for those preferring to dine at home.

Another aspect that delighted us is their inclusive menu, catering to various dietary preferences. We love how they have dishes ranging from vegetarian to vegan and gluten-free choices.

The taste of their culinary offerings also impressed us, with standout dishes like the Mexican Superbowl, Goan Lamb Curry, and Buttermilk Fried Chicken with Maple BBQ Sauce.

Additionally, we think that their beverage selection caters to all tastes, offering both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. We especially liked their Strawberries & Cream Milkshake and Elderflower Spritz.

However, we’re a bit iffy that their customer service garnered mixed reviews from poor surveys. While we were pleased with the friendly staff members, their slow serving time could definitely use some experience.

On the other hand, we give them props for their affordability with mains starting at a reasonable £10.

Customer Service5/5

Pros

  • Award-winning
  • Freshly prepared dishes
  • Accessible location
  • Attentive customer service

Cons

  • Late opening times

The Roebuck is an in-house restaurant of an award-winning hotel. We’re impressed to learn that they have been recognised as the “Best Places for a Staycation in 2023” by Sunday Times.

Upon checking them out, we were impressed by their extensive menu. We also learned that all of their offerings are freshly prepared by Head Chef Andy and his team – earning plus points from us.

Furthermore, their small plates have affordable options starting at £4. Some of the standout dishes for us are the salt and pepper tempura cauliflower and crispy haddock tacos.

For those seeking heartier fare, The Roebuck also has main plates starting at £16. If you ask us, their tandoori sea bass fillet and chargrilled steak burger are the must-tries with their simple yet effective execution.

But what elevated our experience was their attentive and accommodating staff. The servers assigned to our table provided excellent customer service throughout our visit by checking in on us every once in a while to ask us if we needed anything.

Additionally, their convenient location and ample parking space are definite pluses for us. Sadly, we think that the absence of morning operations may deter early risers — especially if you’re staying in one of their rooms.

Customer Service5/5

Pros

  • Authentic Italian dishes
  • Attentive customer service
  • Accessible location
  • Free parking

Cons

  • 10% service charge for big groups
  • Varying operating hours

Stocco serves up authentic Italian fare at wallet-friendly prices — with mains starting at just £6. For us, this sets them apart from other establishments in the area that serve the same cuisine.

We were also impressed by their attentive customer service during our visit. We were warmly greeted upon arrival and promptly seated, with staff taking the time to explain the menu and recommend their best-selling dishes.

Stocco’s menu boasts enticing options like the risotto al tartufo, spaghetti al pomodoro, and the indulgent capricciosa pizza. We’re glad to report that everything we ordered passed our taste test with flying colours!

Furthermore, we appreciate their convenient location on Yorkshire Street. In fact, they are only a few minutes away from public transportation stations.

As for those who will bring their private vehicles, we are sure that they will appreciate the ample free parking within the vicinity.

On the downside, we’re a bit iffy that a 10% service charge is automatically added to tables of 8 or more.

We also have an issue with their varying operating hours that can be confusing for potential guests. With this, we highly recommend calling ahead before heading to the restaurant to avoid any unwanted surprises upon your arrival.
