Explore Manchester’s 13 Best Vegan Cafes Where Flavor Meets Compassion
Whether you’re looking for a healthier meal option or are passionate about supporting the movement towards a greener world, vegan food is a must-have.
Finding vegan dining options can be challenging, as the world is still largely omnivorous. But times are changing.
We’ve searched far and wide across Manchester to find the best cafés serving vegan dishes with their coffee. Thankfully, there are now many coffee shops taking the vegan journey seriously, sometimes to a whole new level.
Here’s a list of the shops that our healthy-living hearts (and tummies) currently hold dear!
Pret A Manger – Oxford St
Media from @pret
Address: 34 Oxford St, M1 5EL
Contact details: 0161 228 7965
Operating hours:
- Monday and Friday – 6:45 AM to 6:30 PM
- Tuesday to Thursday – 6:45 AM to 7:30 PM
- Saturday – 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM
- Sunday – 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
Pricing: £
Pret A Manger, a popular student hangout at the famous Oxford St offers not only buzzing organic coffee but also tasty vegan fare to go with it.
Our particular fave at the moment is the Humous & Falafel Mezze Salad, a great pick-me-up with round fritters made with sweet potato and served with a mix of quinoa and rice—all with humous and leafy greens.
If you don’t like the “heavy” feeling of rice, then you can try the vegan Avo, Olives & Toms Baguette, Pret A Manger’s answer to the question: “what if we make the avocado toast bigger and better?”
Pro tip:
Pret A Manger acknowledges that its vegan dishes might have traces of milk and egg, which is understandable given that it’s a coffee shop that uses dairy and serves non-vegan dishes. We greatly appreciate the shop’s honesty.

Hinterland Bar, a well-known non-alcoholic watering hole in the city’s Northern Quarter, has a vegan treasure under its wing: Wholesome Junkies. The name itself gives you a hint of what’s in store, even if it’s your first time visiting.
The “wholesome” part refers to its vegan and vegetarian menu, with the café priding itself on using only plant-based ingredients for everything, including the protein components of its offerings.
The “junkies” part relates to the variety of dishes served here. We love the Korean Poppers and the “KFC” Burger, which may sound unhealthy but is actually made with a cauliflower patty!
Pro tip:
Keep your eyes peeled for the themed events at Wholesome Junkies! Announcements are made on its social media.
Heavenly Desserts Manchester

- Saturday – 12:00 PM to 1:00 AM
Pricing: £
The brunch menu at Heavenly Desserts on Wilmslow Road is a great stop for vegans looking for delicious overnight oats and smoothie bowls. Although the vegan section of the menu isn’t extensive, this café is still worth checking out.
The overnight oats, with caramelised biscuit and bananas, are one of the best we’ve had—sweet but not overpowering. The smoothie bowls, available in avocado coconut and berry granola flavours, are unique and tasty too.
Heavenly Desserts’ signature breakfast bowl and English breakfast plate are also available in vegan versions, making for a great full meal.
Pro tip:
As much as we also love to hang out and eat here until the wee hours of the morning, Heavenly Desserts’ kitchen’s last call is 30 minutes before the day’s closing time.
Evelyn’s Cafe & Bar
Media from EVELYN’S
Address: 44 Tib St, M4 1LA
Contact details: 0161 834 3303
Operating hours:
- Monday to Saturday – 11:00 AM to 6:15 PM
- Sunday – 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Pricing: £
Evelyn’s on Tib Street is another café with great vegan options that we highly recommend. Its regular and vegan takes on modern British cuisine are splendid.
This café is immensely popular for group dining, but its brunch and dinner menus with solo dining dishes are ‘short but sweet.’
We’re not mad that the ubiquitous, but scrumptious avo on toast is a mainstay breakfast offering. We also love the other vegan dishes on the dinner menu, like the cabbage hispi and roasted cauliflower—simple really goes a long way here.
Lastly, the crispy, hand-cut fries are just divine.
Pro tip:
Book your seats at Evelyn’s in advance, especially if you’re visiting on a Sunday after, say, a day at church. Sundays are the busiest day for this café, and walk-ins are not allowed.

We’re not sure about the other 99 reasons why this café in Chorlton stands out, but we definitely know the 100th: it has great vegan and vegetarian dishes!
The breakfast menu at 99 Reasons is mostly vegan, so you’ll have no trouble finding your morning power-up. For example, there’s a vegan full English breakfast—complete with vegan sausage, vegan black pudding, avocado, and hummus!

We’ve already featured many other gaming cafés on the website, but here’s one that mixes the tabletop hobby with vegan food. If you love both, then you’ll have a great time at Goodtime Games.
Since Goodtime is a board game café, it just makes sense for the crowd favourite dish to be the ever-handy pizza. Goodtime’s vegan BBQ Mushroom pizza is one flavour we liked so much the last we had a gaming night; the tortilla chips and dip is also another vegan showstopper.
The café even has tasty vegan desserts like the 3-choc cookie to boot! Sweet and savoury, all covered indeed.
Pro tip:
If you end up loving Goodtime Games after your first visit, why not consider becoming a café member? You’ll get a 10% discount on your order!

It’s fitting to say that the Eighth Day (co-op) Shop & Cafe is one of the OG vegan cafés in Manchester, having been here since 1970!
If you’re looking for your next (or maybe lifelong) vegan spot, head to Eighth Day. Vegan dishes aren’t just options here—they’re the main event.

After eating your tasty vegan meal, shop at the co-op part of the building for organic and heirloom veggies for home cooking.

Eighth Day Shop & Cafe’s main menu changes with the ingredients on stock or veggies in season. To get the latest menu info, call in on the day of your visit.

If you like having vegan food and live entertainment in one room, then we highly suggest that you come to the Fuel Cafe Bar. It’s in Withington, though—a little outside Manchester city centre, but still well within Greater Manchester itself.
We can’t get enough of the Fuel Burger. The soy patty and sauce used in this concoction just go so well together!
Furthermore, most if not all the dishes in the menu are clearly labelled vegan or can be served in a vegan-friendly recipe. No need to second-guess on whether it’s safe for your particular diet or not.
Pro tip:
Even the shakes at Fuel Cafe bar are available in vegan versions! Just ask the friendly staff for it.

Kadampa Meditation Centre’s (KMC) in-house food haven, World Peace Cafe, might sound cheesy at first, but it’s actually a nice place to work and unwind, especially after a meditation class at KMC.
This volunteer-run café whips up delicious vegan and vegetarian snacks three days a week. The best thing about the food, aside from the taste, is the pricing—your wallet won’t be going home empty!
There’s also a kid’s menu with vegan options, which is great if you want your younger companions to start eating healthier while still young.
Pro tip:
Join the café’s meditation sessions—your heart and soul will thank you for the moment of serenity.

- Monday to Saturday – 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM

Little Aladdin’s forte is vegan Indian food. Located in the middle of the city, this humble corner shop has long operating hours, making it easy to get your vegan lunch or dinner if you work or live nearby.
The sizable vegan curry menu at Little Aladdin can be paired with any of its vegan wraps for a full meal. The vegan donner is a standout, praised for its juicy and flavourful taste.
Ultimately, what everyone (including us!) love about this shop is its serving size that’s definitely value for money. It’s a great example of vegan food that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.
Pro tip:
Buy the “three curries deal” to experience a handful of Little Aladdin’s famous curries in one meal.

Pricing: £
Cosy, family-run Corner & Bloom is another café you shouldn’t miss when in Didsbury. It’s quite popular to locals and tourists for its speciality coffee, lovingly sourced from local roasters.
While it has the usual meat-based menu items, there are also plenty of vegan and vegetarian options, ensuring everyone can enjoy a great experience. For example, Corner & Bloom offers two vegan breakfast plates—a heavy and a light one (you don’t see this often)!
Another standout vegan dish we liked is the tofu salad with veggies and a sweet maple syrup dressing. It’s light and satisfying at the same time.
Pro tip:
Corner & Bloom is a dog-friendly café! You can have your brunch with your beloved furbaby (or furbabies) by your side.

The Deli Lama, a co-op and café in one, is a vegan hotspot in Salford. We highly recommend dropping by since it’s very near Manchester city centre.
The playful name (which we assume is an homage to His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, and the shop’s own mascot of a llama) is a testament to the creativity of the café in whipping up delicious vegan dishes.
Deli Lama Cafe features locally roasted coffee and vegan favourites like burritos and freshly baked bread. The daily specials rotate, so it’s best to leave the rest of the experience for you to discover!
Pro tip:
Take your healthy living up a level! You can get your weekly vegetable supply from the Deli Lama wholefood shop.

Rounding up our list of beloved vegan cafés in the city is Third Floor Rising on the third floor of Afflecks in the Northern Quarter.
Although it opened just a few years ago, it’s quickly gaining a good reputation for its tasty coffee and treats, with great pricing that doesn’t skimp on serving size.
One of our current favourites is the avocado on toast. The bread and avocado, topped with vegan feta cheese, offer a delightful blend of sweet, soft, crumbly, and healthy!
It’s also a great place to hang out after a long day of shopping.
Pro tip:
Third Floor Rising shares its daily specials on social media. Check out its posts to be updated on your next favourite vegan goods’ debut!
