Everything You Need to Know about Scare City Manchester

Sometimes, a good scare is all we need to get a boost in life! Whether you’ll do so by watching horror movies or reading a scary book, that rush of adrenaline is needed from time to time.

Personally, I want to experience the thrill of getting chased by monsters and ghouls but without the sense of danger that is accompanied with it.

Fortunately, Scare City Manchester is a great place to be if you’re seeking for some horror action, and here’s everything you need to know about it when travelling in Manchester.

Best Time to Go

Halloween is definitely the best time to go to Scare City Manchester. I mean, it just makes perfect sense visiting here during the scariest time in the month which is around the fall.

Also, it’s also recommended to come here at night in any given season since pitch darkness is still the appropriate time of the day to get scared the most!

I may be a scaredy cat, but at least I can attest that I want to maximise my experience by getting frightened at the best time!

What to Do in Scare City Manchester

Visit the haunted houses

Ever wondered what a haunted house looks like and what it feels to be inside one? Neither did we, but we were crazy enough to try it anyway! This is not a place for the faint of heart, so be warned!

Inside, you’ll encounter a variety of rooms, each with its own eerie ambiance. From a creaking staircase that leads to a shadowy attic to a dimly lit parlour filled with antique furniture, every corner holds a macabre surprise.

As you make your way through the Haunted House, remember that it is an attraction designed to invoke fear and create a chilling atmosphere.

While it may not be suitable for everyone, those who seek thrills and enjoy the macabre will find themselves immersed in an unforgettable and spine-chilling adventure.

Pro tip:

Explore every nook and cranny that you can find inside the haunted houses. They might bring a lot of jump scares and surprises that will definitely give you some of the best frights of your life!

Get your mind bogged in the escape rooms

The escape rooms in Scare City Experience offer an exciting opportunity for individuals and groups to engage in a challenging test of puzzle-solving skills and teamwork.

Inside the escape room, participants must search for hidden clues, decipher codes, and solve puzzles in order to progress. The escape rooms aren’t too difficult and won’t exactly trap you due to its sheer difficulty.

From what we’ve experienced, younger audiences will be puzzled at some traps and mazes — but they’ll definitely appreciate a satisfying conclusion to the whole experience!

Escape Rooms in Scare City Experience Manchester offer an enjoyable and intellectually stimulating activity for friends, families, and colleagues. If you want a bonding opportunity, this will surely do!

Pro tip

I know the name of the place is Scare City, but during escape room segments, it’s best to stay calm and think with the more logical side of your brain rather than that ‘lizard’ instinct that tells us to be scared at every threat that comes our way!

Escape the horror mazes

The horror maze in Scare City Experience Manchester is an immersive and thrilling attraction that challenges your courage and navigation skills. Throughout the maze, you’ll encounter a variety of terrifying creatures that are expertly designed to provoke fear and suspense.

From creepy clowns to menacing monsters, each corner presents a surprise. Try to remain vigilant while you’re finding your way to the exit!

Pro tip

It’s easy to get lost here, so I advise you to follow the trail and pay close attention to your buddies so you won’t get sidetracked. But then again, it’s preferred that way so the ‘scare’ factor gets heightened even more!

Survive the Zombie Apocalypse through training

You heard that right, there’s a zombie apocalypse inside Scare City, and we weren’t prepared for it! Fortunately, we learned a thing or two about surviving such a zombie frenzy and kicked some undead butts in the process!

This thrilling experience allows you to immerse yourself in a post-apocalyptic world. It’s all about pushing your limits and seeing what you’re made of in this exhilarating experience.

During the training, you’ll get to navigate through specially designed areas that are infested with zombies.

From mastering combat techniques to learning how to move stealthily through hostile environments, you will gain practical knowledge that can be applied in a hypothetical zombie outbreak scenario—which we’re sort of wishing is real, if I’m being perfectly honest.

Spoiler alert:

These training stuff don’t really do much and are superfluous. These are simply simulations of what a zombie apocalypse feels like.

Watch their scare shows

Surprisingly, we found out that there was a scare show scheduled periodically during our visit in Scare City. These live performances offer a thrilling blend of acts, illusions, and chilling tales that are sure to keep you engaged throughout.

The Grey Mare’s Tail offers an unforgettable experience. Shows are thoughtfully designed with atmospheric settings, special effects, and sound to create a sense of dread and excitement. They evoke various emotions, from fear to wonder, and will surprise and challenge your senses.

Pro tip

I suggest watching the shows in the middle of your time in Scare City as these may last quite a while. This way, there’s more time to do something else or participate in activities that are more action-packed.

Indulge in some horror-themed food and drinks

At some point, our stomachs churned—not because of the fear, but from hunger due to not eating for a couple of hours.

If you’re a fan of horror and looking to immerse yourself in a creepy culinary adventure, Scare City Experience has something quite bizarre yet unique.

You can expect to find a variety of spooky treats and dishes that are designed to thrill your taste buds.

From delightfully eerie desserts like chilly colas and fizzy drinks to creatively presented snacks like slimy cheesy dips and candy pretzels, the food at Scare City Experience is sure to impress both horror enthusiasts and food lovers alike.

In addition to the food, the themed beverages at Scare City Experience are equally captivating. Specially crafted to enhance the overall atmosphere, the drinks menu features a range of creepy concoctions and chilling libations.

Whether you’re in the mood for a spine-chilling cocktail or a sinister mocktail, you’ll find plenty of options to satisfy your thirst for adventure.

Pro tip

Scare City’s slushies are the bomb! You have to order one when you visit there as they come in different flavours as well. This makes up for the restricted food you aren’t allowed to bring like alcohol or any other outside fizzy drinks.

Experience their virtual reality horror

Another great thing about Scare City Manchester is its intuitive virtual reality horror experience. In this immersive space, you’ll navigate through haunted houses, dark alleys, and other nightmarish locations.

The VR headset tracks your movements, allowing you to explore and interact with the terrifying surroundings.
