The Beauty Academy stood out to us, thanks to their teachers who are also fantastic practitioners. With this, they’re able to provide a real-world perspective that’s invaluable for students who want to start a career in the field.

Furthermore, they offer a full range of Associate Beauty Therapists accredited classes. Whether you’re interested in makeup, lash and brow treatments, nail care, skin care, massage, waxing, or more, we’re happy that they’ve got their students covered.

On top of this, they’re also ideal for the budget-conscious with their Last-Minute Promotions. As the name suggests, these discounted classes start shortly after booking, so be sure to check their website regularly.

However, we noticed that they’re a bit far from the public transportation stop at Piccadilly Gardens. Therefore, taking the bus is the best option to reach them.

As another alternative, they offer online classes, which is a definite plus if you ask us.

Finally, we appreciate that they are open 24 hours for inquiries. We even tried contacting them and they responded right away with complete information about our concerns.

Pros

  • Real-world perspective from practitioner teachers
  • Wide range of classes
  • Budget-friendly promotions
  • Online class availability
  • 24-hour customer support

Cons

  • Far from public transportation stop

We believe that Central Manchester College of Health & Beauty’s best asset is their prime location in the city centre. This makes them easily accessible to students regardless if they would take public or private mode of transportation.

Another positive aspect is their commitment to small class sizes. According to our research, this allows students to receive more personalised attention from their instructors.

However, we’re a bit concerned that they focus exclusively on makeup and hairdressing (unlike other schools in the area who offer more classes). Despite this, the breadth of their classes within these categories is impressive.

For instance, they offer a class specifically for photographic makeup. With this, we highly recommend them to those who want to specialise in certain areas of beauty.

Sadly, they are open on weekdays only, which can be limiting for some students. However, we give them props since they offer online classes as an alternative for those who cannot attend during the week.

Pros

  • Prime city centre location
  • Small class sizes for personalised attention
  • Specialised classes in makeup and hairdressing
  • Online class availability

Cons

  • Limited to makeup and hairdressing only
  • Open weekdays only

Supportive

“I started my level 3 Beauty Therapy course last year at this college.  They’re located in the city centre and the course is just one day a week which is very convenient for me. The staff are very supportive and are always there to answer your questions or help you with any issues.”

Fun learning

“Absolutely fantastic college. I started Sept 2016 and I was apprehensive to start the course (self doubt) but I am so glad that I did as I have recently started my own salon. I studied Level 2 & 3 Beauty and Level 3 Nails. Superb teaching as the lecturers make it fun and they are very knowledgeable and are always giving advice to further your skills.”

Beauty School impressed us since they offer up-to-date knowledge on beauty thanks to their curriculum that they regularly modernise according to trends and innovation.

With this, we believe that they’re ideal for both beginners and practitioners who want to refresh their skills and stay current in the industry.

Their flexibility is another standout feature, with day, evening, and weekend classes available. However, we’re a bit iffy that they don’t offer online classes, which could be a limitation for some.

Although, we’re pleased they are located in the city centre. This makes them easy to access for their students.

They also offer a wide range of Vocational Training Charitable Trust accredited classes in hair styling, skincare, and makeup. On top of this, we learned that they provide courses in health and safety, client care, and communication for the beauty industry.

Sadly, their courses can be a bit pricey, with some certifications reaching as high as £6,000.

Nevertheless, according to the students we’ve spoken to, the investment is worth it as they provide the skills and knowledge that helped them gain back their tuition fees eventually.

Pros

  • Up-to-date beauty knowledge
  • Flexible class schedules
  • Convenient city centre location
  • Wide range of courses

Cons

  • No online classes
  • Pricey course fees

Professional and friendly

“Very professional and friendly training academy. Ideally situated in Manchester City centre. I received the most up to date training on my nail course , my tutor was very knowledgeable and up to date with the latest trends.”

Enhance Manchester Salon and Training Academy is ideal for those who want to build relationships while taking beauty courses. According to our surveys, most students who tried their services ended up finding friends who eventually became colleagues.

Aside from this, we learned that they’re also budget-friendly, with aesthetic classes starting at only £250. This is significantly cheaper compared to other schools in the area.

Even though they are affordable, they still offer quality learning services.

We believe this is thanks to their practitioner teachers, like Victoria. She’s salon owner, senior beauty and holistic massage therapist, semi-permanent eyebrow microblading technician, and advanced clinical hypnotherapy practitioner!

Sadly, we have accessibility concerns, as they are a 15-minute walk from the nearest public transportation stop at Wellington Street.

If you plan on attending, it would be best to bring your own vehicle to avoid hassle, especially since they have a dedicated parking spot.

Another thing to keep in mind is that they are open on weekdays only, which can be limiting for some students. However, we appreciate that they offer a lot of class availability, giving learners plenty of schedule options to choose from.

Pros

  • Affordable classes
  • Quality learning from practitioner teachers
  • Dedicated parking spot
  • Plenty of class schedule options

Cons

  • Accessibility issues with public transportation
  • Open on weekdays only

Absolutely amazing

“I am currently studying 3 courses at Enhance manchester. I am also having the best time and have met the most amazing people. I have made friendships and relationships with my tutors that I will always cherish. I have made forever lasting relationships with the lovely people at enhance and I will forever be grateful for it. Doing level 3 hair and media makeup, level 3 nails and level 3 beauty therapy is absolutely amazing.”

Manchester School of Aesthetics is highly recommended for those who want in-depth learning in various areas of the beauty industry. We appreciate that they drill down on beauty-related topics such as anatomy and physiology.

They also have makeup classes, but their main focus is on cosmetic courses. We learned that their most popular offerings include introductions to Botox and dermal fillers, ideal for beginners.

On top of this, they offer advanced classes such as Level 7 in Aesthetics Practice. For us, these courses provide a comprehensive education for those looking to advance their careers.

Sadly, they’re only open from Monday to Saturday and don’t offer online classes.

On the other hand, we think that their convenient location near St Mary’s Parsonage stop  ensures students won’t have issues dropping by. And this stands true whether you’re using public or private transportation.

We’re not going to lie, they’re a bit expensive, with their most affordable classes starting at £599. Nevertheless, we believe that they’re worth the investment considering the quality of education they provide.

Pros

  • Classes for beginners and advanced students
  • Convenient location

Cons

  • Open Monday to Saturday only
  • No online classes
  • Higher course fees

Massive thank you

“Just wanted to say a massive thank you to Danielle and her team for the thorough in depth theory and practical training I completed with them.”

Interesting and informative

“in December I completed the start from scratch course. the course was an intense 6 day course including lots of hands on practice plus so much anatomy and physiology which was actually very interesting and informative. knowing all the information you are taught by the trainers is vital in becoming not only a good practitioner but a safe one which I definitely am.”
