Pros

  • Wide range of flavours offered
  • Great quality cupcakes
  • Caters to events

Cons

  • Pricier compared to other bakeries
  • Seating and parking space is limited during peak hours

Since 2014, Alex’s Bakery has become a go-to destination for cupcake enthusiasts and sweet-toothed individuals alike.

One of the primary reasons patrons flock to Alex’s Bakery is the consistently exceptional quality and wide variety of cupcakes they offer.

From what we’ve seen, each cupcake is a work of art, from the moist and flavorful cake to the rich and creamy frosting.

Furthermore, we love that there’s always something new to try! They have an ever-changing assortment of flavors, from classic favorites like chocolate and vanilla to unique creations like lavender lemon and chai spice.

While Alex’s Bakery isn’t the cheapest place in town to satisfy your sweet tooth, we think the quality and taste of their products justify the prices.

According to our research, each cupcake costs around £11.50 per piece. But given their big portion sizes, we think it’s well worth your hard-earned pound.

On a different note, we want to highlight their exceptional customer service.

After surveying some of their regulars, they claimed that the personalized approach of their staff creates a warm and inviting atmosphere that keeps customers returning.

Furthermore, they’re located near the central district, making them easily accessible for locals and tourists.

Parking can be a bit challenging during peak hours, though. But it’s a minor inconvenience considering the delightful treats that await inside!

We also love that the bakery has a charming and inviting space. The warm, rustic decor creates a cozy atmosphere, making it the perfect spot for a quick indulgence or a leisurely afternoon treat.

That said, we have to mention that the seating area is somewhat limited, but we think it adds to the bakery’s intimate charm.

Pros

  • Caters to events
  • Affordable pricing
  • Excellent customer service

Cons

  • Doesn’t have a physical store
  • Limited variety on offerings

For those looking for personalised cupcakes for events, There for the Baking is a hidden Mancunian gem that beckons to those searching for delightful cupcakes that’ll be the highlight of your party!

At There for the Baking, cupcakes are more than just baked goods; they are works of art. From what we’ve seen, the quality of their cupcakes is consistently impressive, with moist, flavorful cake bases and decadent, creamy frosting that melts in your mouth.

We love that they showcase their work so potential customers can know what they can do.

Another thing we love about them is their focus on using high-quality ingredients. While the variety is less extensive than some larger bakeries, the limited selection is a testament to their commitment to perfection.

That said, unlike other cupcake shops that offer a sit-in cafe, There for the Baking is only an online store where customers can order through their website.

We think this aspect might deter some customers who want to have a cake testing session before placing an order.

However, what kept us positive about them was their highly raved customer service.

Based on our surveys, they’re more than willing to offer recommendations and share their knowledge on the best types of cakes or cupcakes for your event.

Regarding pricing, we found that There for the Baking’s cupcakes are pretty budget-friendly.

Costing £1.75 per cupcake, we think this is a reasonable price, especially since they regularly run promotions and offer loyalty rewards, which help ease the cost for returning customers.

So if you plan to serve a cupcake tower on your next occasion, There for the Baking is definitely worth trying!

Pros

  • Wide range of offers available
  • Affordable pricing
  • Great customer service

Cons

  • No physical shop
  • Store hours aren’t posted publicly

Liv’s Cupcakes is one of those bakeries in Manchester that just gets it right. They started in 2020 and have become one of the top choices for personalised cake and cupcakes for events.

Regarding quality and variety, we think Liv’s Cupcakes is a true standout!

According to their website, Liv’s takes pride in using only the finest ingredients. Based on what we’ve seen, their claims are true as they have beautiful cupcakes that are a sheer delight to the taste buds.

Another thing that impressed us was their impressive array of flavors that cater to every palate. Plus, their list is available on their website, which we think is a great and convenient way to start building your order.

We must note that they don’t have a physical store, so cake tasting before ordering isn’t an option. Nonetheless, we’re confident about their products because of the rave reviews that they’ve garnered.

From our surveys, their portion sizes are pretty hefty, which is a big plus for us considering the price tag of £11.25 for their box of six cupcakes.

Furthermore, their offerings go beyond just cupcakes. Customers will be glad to know that they also offer personalised cakes, cookie cakes, brownies, and much more.

The quality and variety of their offerings and exceptional customer service create a sweet experience that lingers long after the last bite.

Pros

  • Affordable pricing
  • Wide range of offerings
  • Regularly offers promos and discounts

Cons

  • Inconsistent service levels
  • The quality of other offerings could be better

Vanilla Ice Cakes is one of the few luxurious choices here on our list. Located in Chorlton, it’s no wonder their cakes and offerings are as extravagant as their location.

We have to say, their specialisation in luxury wedding cakes and bespoke celebration cakes is what caught our attention to them.

After asking their regulars about their cupcake offerings, we were pleased by their positive claims. According to them, it’s practically a love letter to your taste buds.

The cake base? Moist and flavorful. The frosting? Creamy, decadent, and the stuff of frosting fantasies.

In addition, we also love that they offer a wide range of products aside from just cakes and cupcakes.

Customers will be glad to know that it also offers freshly baked cakes, brownies, cake shakes, locally roasted coffee, and more, which you can enjoy in the shop or takeaway!

Another thing that we love about them is their affordability. At £2.95 per cupcake and £14.99 for a box of six, we think this makes them one of the best choices for budget-conscious customers.

The glaring issue we must mention is that not all of their products offer the same quality as their cakes and cupcakes.

From the customers that we’ve talked to, their milk cake and brownies aren’t as good as their cakes.

Furthermore, there were some negative comments regarding their service levels, which we think can pose a deal-breaker for some.

Pros

  • Offers cupcake decorating classes
  • Near central district
  • 10 plus years in business

Cons

  • Pricier compared to other shops
  • Closed most days of the week

Hey Little Cupcake! used to be just a pop-up shop in Spinningfields in August 2010 and has since become a permanent fixture in the area.

In addition to providing Manchester residents with their daily dose of sugar, the shop also functioned as an art gallery, featuring and selling the works of numerous local artists inspired by cupcakes.

Right off the bat, we were impressed by the rave reviews about their offerings.

From what we’ve seen, each cupcake is a miniature masterpiece. It’s the kind of quality that makes your taste buds do a joyful jig, leaving you wondering how you ever lived without it.

Furthermore, we’re also pleased to find that their shop is accessible within the central district.

The space may be tight, but it has a warm cosy atmosphere that makes it ideal for enjoying desserts. Not to mention, the air is filled with the irresistible scent of freshly cooked cupcakes.

That said, it might be difficult to find a parking space near the premises, but for us, this isn’t much of a deal breaker since it’s only a couple of minutes away from the trams.

Now, let’s talk dough—both edible and spendable. Each cupcake costs around £3 – £5 each, so this makes Hey Little Cupcake! a bit steeper compared to others.

Despite this, given the amazing reviews and many satisfied customers, we think the prices are worth the investment in pure cupcake joy.

Plus, the bakery often rolls out promotions and loyalty programs, making it a bit easier to indulge your cupcake cravings.

Lastly, we also want to highlight that they host cupcake decorating classes, which are surprisingly popular among their community.
