Pros

  • Wide array of offerings
  • Great customer service
  • Clean interiors

Cons

  • Expensive dishes
  • Usually crowded during peak hours

Tattu is a company that was started in 2015 by two brothers as a family enterprise. We found it interesting that it set out with a specific goal: to introduce something fresh and innovative to the UK food scene.

We’re impressed by their ambiance. With their luxurious interiors, you know you’re in for something unique.

We’re also pleased that they uphold a certain level of cleanliness within their establishment.

Furthermore, we like that this standard also translates to their food handling. When we dined here, we noted that their staff are well-trained to provide excellent service and maintain their food safety standards.

Given how luxurious this place is, clients should know that they charge a higher amount for their menu than others. Their modern sharing plate costs £72.50, while their emperor sharing is £97.50.

We were a bit surprised that their single-order dim sum ranges from £10.80 to £13.50. However, their servings are pretty substantial despite the price.

The place can get pretty crowded during peak hours too. So, set your expectations during lunch or dinner.

On the other hand, one thing that keeps us positive about them is the range of dishes they offer. They have a more extensive menu than other Asian restaurants in the area, which is great for group diners who have varying preferences!

Overall, we think Tattu is an excellent choice for an indulgent dinner to impress your friends or a quick takeaway to satisfy your dim sum cravings.

Pros

  • Affordable prices
  • Offers gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan-friendly options
  • Accessible to shopping district

Cons

  • Facilities not as good as others
  • Menu offerings lack variety

Yang Sing caught our eye as they serve traditional Cantonese food made with ingredients from the area that are in season. They open every day at noon and are a thriving part of the arts and food scenes in Manchester.

This family-run restaurant is always buzzing with friendly service and authentic Cantonese cuisine. Overall, dining here was able to satisfy our dim sum cravings!

We love that they keep the authenticity of their food through their family recipes. This may make them need more variety in their menu options, but we’re impressed that they choose quality over quantity for their dishes.

Their location near Deansgate is also a plus in our books. Like us, if you fancy having Chinese food after a night out, they are a viable choice.

One thing we’re a bit iffy about is their facilities, as it’s not as well-kept as the others on this list. This can be a deal breaker for those who are sensitive about the restaurant’s overall cleanliness.

In addition, some people may find their menu limited. Yang Sing tends to stick to the classic Chinese and Asian dim sum we’ve come to know and love.

Despite these setbacks, we still recommend their service, especially for those looking for some post-drinks nosh or a quick takeaway on a busy weeknight.

Pros

  • Upscale facilities
  • Excellent customer service
  • Wide range of choices

Cons

  • Expensive rates
  • Difficult to get a reservation during peak seasons

Wing’s restaurant was established in 2004 by chef-owner Wing-Shing Chu. We love how it features a chic, low-key ambiance while still being modern.

Wing’s, a fine dining establishment that receives Michelin awards consistently, is renowned for its exquisite cuisine and impeccable service–something we found exemplary!

The head chef and his talented staff use both old and new techniques to make Cantonese and dim sum favourites in exciting new ways. We’re impressed that they have a wide variety of dishes available, including vegetarian ones.

Additionally, diners can peruse the extensive wine list that their knowledgeable sommelier has hand-picked. We found it notable that it has a glass-enclosed wine cellar located at its centre to ensure the selections are at just the right temperature.

Furthermore, Wing’s has an impressive collection of fine wines, champagnes, and rare spirits, including Louis XIII cognac.

However, one thing clients should know is that they do have higher rates compared to other restaurants. They might not be the best choice for a quick takeaway or a casual lunch for those with a limited budget.

In addition, because of the popularity that they’ve gained over the years, they are usually crowded. We recommend making a reservation ahead of time if you want to eat there during busy times, especially on holidays.

Even so, for their quality and excellent service, we consider Wing’s a top choice for dim sum in Manchester!

Pros

  • Offers vegan and gluten-free options
  • Wide variety of menu offerings

Cons

  • Only accepts cash payments
  • Unresponsive to phone calls

For us, the sophisticated Chinese cuisine, cosmopolitan vibe, and excellent drinks at Sweet Mandarin make it a standout among Manchester’s dining options.

This award-winning restaurant on Copperas Street has a straightforward mission: excellent service, delectable pan-Asian cuisine, and reasonable prices.

What caught our attention, though, is their wide variety of menu offerings. They even have vegan and gluten-free options!

Also, we were impressed by how many different kinds of dishes they had on their menu since few Chinese restaurants do this.

Regarding the costs here, we must mention that they are above the average for Asian restaurants in the area. However, with their excellent customer service and high-quality food options, we believe the extra pounds are well worth it.

Their single dishes are approximately £14, while their group orders can be up to £35. Comparing these prices to other choices within the area, we think these are still more affordable.

One thing we’re iffy about is that they rarely ever answer their phone calls.

It’s listed on their website that they prefer to receive communications through email. This can be time-consuming, especially for those with multiple inquiries and concerns.

Nonetheless, Sweet Mandarin is still an excellent choice for your dim sum cravings and Asian cuisine. We recommend them for those looking for quality and affordable choices around Manchester.

Pros

  • Wide variety of menu offerings
  • Exceptional customer service
  • Clean facilities

Cons

  • Food quality could be better
  • Tons of crowds during peak hours and weekends

The Rice Bowl at Cross St. is a modern, lively place that serves dim sum and other Chinese food standards that are good for both meat eaters and vegetarians.

We like that they’re located within the Central District of Manchester. This makes them easily accessible for those looking for a dim sum place after work.

An aspect that we really like about Rice Bowl is that they have their dishes listed on their website. This makes checking their menu more convenient, as it enables us to plan ahead on what we’re ordering.

In addition, they also have a featured recipe for those who want to try their hand at making their dishes at home.

What we’re a bit iffy about is that they don’t have their prices listed on their website.

Moreover, we found that the quality of the dishes here varies. Even though we’ve ordered the same dish several times in a row, we found that the doneness and seasoning lacked consistency.

Customers should keep this in mind if they choose to dine here. Even so, for what they offer, we’re still impressed by their overall offers and quality service.
