Pros

  • Experience fabric retailer
  • Commendable customer service
  • Accessible online shopping

Cons

  • May not accept cash for in-store purchases

If you are looking for a tried and tested fabric store, then you should turn to Abakhan Fabrics, Hobby, & Home. We find it impressive that they have been operational since the 1940s.

They are a family business and the management has been passed through the generations. We think that this is the reason why their customer service is warm and reliable.

Upon checking with their regular customers, they shared that the staff members here are always ready to help. Furthermore, they will also take the extra mile in assisting you to find the right fabric for you.

Since they also have a wide range of fabrics in stock, we also think that they will be a great fit for those who are looking for something specific.  On the other hand, those who are not sure of what they want yet will have a lot of options here.

Furthermore, their online catalogue is also impressive. We noticed that the stocks are neatly organised and potential customers will find what they need easily.

Their delivery service is also affordable. The fee is free if your order costs more than £50, otherwise, they will charge you £2.95 — which is a good price if you ask us.

However, for store purchases, there are instances where they do not accept cash as payment. With this, it would be best to bring your debit or credit card to be safe.

Pros

  • Has a wide range of fabrics
  • Has helpful customer service
  • Has organised online catalogue

Cons

  • Their options can get overwhelming
  • Will not provide refund once fabric has been cut

Leon’s Fabric Superstore truly lives up to their name. If you are looking for a fabric shop that can give you a lot of options, we think that it would be hard to beat them.

They have been operating for more than 80 years. Over time, they were able to curate different types of fabrics for their customers.

However, their downfall is also their wide catalogue. When we corresponded with some of their clients, they mentioned that they are sometimes overwhelmed by the stocks available in-store.

Luckily, we noted that there were many helpful store representatives around the store who are eager to help find the right items.

Keeping this in mind, we think that this store is great for those who have something specific to buy. Otherwise, the options available in the store may be too hard to narrow down for any buyer.

As for those who prefer to shop online, their virtual catalogue is also easy to navigate — much to our delight!

We like that they are willing to send samples to help you decide what you want before you order in bulk. Additionally, this will be helpful that they will not entertain refund requests once the fabric has been cut.

When it comes to shipping, you will not be charged a fee for orders above £50.

Pros

  • Can provide finished products
  • Have relationship with factories
  • Good for those who need bulk garments regularly

Cons

  • Does not sell raw fabric

Fundamental Textiles is a unique fabric store since they provide clothing items instead of raw textiles. However, we still think that they are worth considering since they allow their customers to choose the material for clothing items that will be ordered in bulk.

One notable thing we like here is that this company is perfect for those who intend to buy yards of fabric and turn it into garments. The savings is a big plus for us since there’s no need to pay for third-party sewers!

Notably, Fundamental Textiles has been operational since 2010. Upon taking a deep dive into their company profile, we learned that they were able to find good fabrics from different parts of the world over time, which resulted in a diverse selection.

We also think that they will also be a suitable choice for those who are planning to establish their clothing line. In fact, they even have staff that can even in the research and planning phase of garment production.

On top of this, we are also impressed that they also have ongoing partnerships with factories that can help you manufacture your products on a regular basis. Furthermore, they also have the manpower to do the quality-checking for you.

The only downside is that they only provide finished garments and do not sell raw fabrics only. If that is the only thing that you need, we recommend that you check with other providers in the area.

Pros

  • Offers wide range of products
  • Has a strategic location
  • Has an organised online catalogue

Cons

  • May have delays in their delivery service

What made Taylors Supplies special is that they are not limited to selling fabrics only.  Instead, we appreciate that they also offer all sorts of sewing essentials together with arts and crafts products.

We believe that they will be great for those who like doing DIY projects. This is a one-stop shop that will most likely have everything that you need.

Not to mention, its store is located at Stocks Street in Cheetham Hill, where you will have no issues finding them. We are also happy to share that there are enough parking spaces here for those who will bring their own vehicle.

Alternatively, the place is also accessible via public transportation. It is best to take the bus to Derby Street, where you will be three minutes away by foot from the store.

We also commend their online catalogue. Since they have a lot of stocks available, they neatly filter all items by category —  making it easy for customers to find what they need.

It’s also convenient that the ordering and payment process can be done online, and their staff will immediately prepare the items. Afterwards, the orders may be picked up at the store – which is the best choice if you ask us.

Unfortunately, while they have delivery services, it can sometimes take a while for the parcels to arrive. For those who are in a hurry to receive their items,  we think it’s best to book your courier of choice instead.

Pros

  • Provides quick transactions
  • Carries wide range of fabric brands
  • Has an organised virtual catalogue

Cons

  • Customers will pay for shipping fee of returned items

If you prioritise quick deliveries, we think that Mimi and Bee Fabric can help you. After speaking with their customers, we were happy to learn that they can swiftly provide orders whether clients transact in-store or online.

We think that this is because of their attentive customer service. Here, they have knowledgeable staff members who can help you find the right fabric for you right away.

Aside from this, they also carry a lot of brands here. If you feel more at ease with certain manufacturers of fabric, we think that they will most likely have it here.

Furthermore, their online catalogue is also easy to navigate. We checked their website and we commend them for neatly organising all of their stocks.

There is even an option to sort their products according to price, date of arrival, and even alphabetically. This makes it easy for the customers to find what they are looking for.

You may either pick up your orders at the store or have it delivered. For those who will choose the latter, Mimi and Bee Fabric has straightforward rates that start at £3.50 – something we appreciate!

However, the rate will go up depending on the weight of your parcel or if you prefer a certain courier.

The only caveat is that the customers are expected to pay for the shipping fee of returned items. To avoid this, we recommend shopping in-store instead.
