When talking about a proper full English brekkie, some Brits get a little too passionate about what should and shouldn’t be included on the plate. This delicious meal has had variations over the years, but the bottom line is, it just needs to be hearty and greasy.

We’ve done the not-so-tough part of research, where we scoffed down bangin’ and not-so-scrummy Full Montys just to see which restaurants in Manchester serve the best fry-ups. It was tough, but we finally gathered the best brekkies cooked to perfection!

Check out our curated list of the best fry-ups in Manchester that are fit for royalty!

A crowd favourite that doesn’t need an introduction, Koffee Pot has been dishing out fry-ups in Manchester for almost half a century. It’s your go-to for no-nonsense brekkies in the Northern Quarter, offering the classic greasy meals that hit the right spots.

The KP Full English is a cracking good brekkie, made with dry-cured bacon from Littlewoods Butchers, sausage, egg, hash brown, mushrooms, baked beans, and toast. Pair it with a good, creamy latte with vanilla syrup for that extra sweetness.

Pro Tip:
This is a cashless venue, so don’t forget to bring your credit or debit card.

Albert’s Schloss is where greasy spoons and showtimes get together. While you’re treating your tummy with delectable fried food, your eyes and ears will be indulging in a wild evening of glitz and glamour. There’s a live performance every night!

Dine in either meat-heavy or veggie fry-ups, paired with a glass of prosecco or any alcoholic drink you want to try—they have loads of cocktails, from classic to seasonal favourites!

Their Cook Haus Breakfast does wonders for one’s oily cravings, which is made with Cumberland sausages, smoked back bacon, egg, portobello mushroom, roast tomato, potato rosti, black pudding, and toast.

The vegan option, called the Veggie Cook Haus Breakfast, has plant-based sausages, smashed avocado instead of bacon, and vegan black pudding. For a meal that’s not too heavy, try the Kroissant Royale with your choice of either bacon or sausage.

Pro Tip:
Check the website for the live performance schedule. There’s a different show each night, so you can choose the days when you prefer easy listening or alluring performances.

Katsouris Deli is a legendary spot in Manchester’s Deansgate. They’ve earned their reputation because of their imposing sandwiches (and incredible bread), like our personal favourite, the Mexican Spicy Chicken in ciabatta.

But don’t be fooled by its long list of sandwiches. This deli also makes one hell of a fry-up, the kind that you need when you’re feeling peckish and needing to satisfy your greasy cravings.

Grab either the Big Kat or Little Kitten Breakfast, both made with egg, bacon, butcher’s sausage (an award winner, by the way), grilled tomato, baked beans, and toast. The Big Kat has two to three meat items, while the Little Kitten has one of each.

Not all dishes are meat-heavy. Plant-based customers can tuck into The Little Veggie Breakfast, which is composed of vegetarian sausage, mushroom, and halloumi cheese. It does come with an egg, though, which you can ask to be put on a different plate.

Pro Tip:
Since you’re already here, grab some award-winning bread from Barbakan Bakery. You don’t have to take a trip to Chorlton anymore!

One of Cholrton’s beloved caffs, the Metro Café is a straightforward, unpretentious place for full brekkies. It isn’t tough to spot, with its massive, yellow sign out front.

The inside is very casual. But don’t be fooled because it has a big menu, full of greasy morning meals and authentic Persian food. One of our favourite things is their meaty and vegetarian Full Monty options, like the Special Breakfast, with bacon, sausage, and egg.

Our number one favourite thing is their Halal Breakfast, which has beef sausages, eggs, hashbrown, tomatoes, mushrooms, baked beans, and fried bread. Add the Peppermint Americano for a bit of oomph because you can order that even if it isn’t the holidays!

Pro Tip:
If it’s still available, try the baklava for dessert to add something sweet to your meal.

This hidden gem brings forth a relaxed setting yet stylish and fun, exactly the kind of friendly place for catching up with mates or when you’re needing some me-time! And they certainly aced the flavours in their meals!

The Full English comes in meat, vegetarian, and vegan options. The avocado in the Vegan Breakfast is rather enjoyable and adds something new to the fry-up—unusual yet creamy and brings a different kind of texture to the meal!

Sat in an ice plant building in Ancoats, The Counter House is a neighbourhood gem that brings an exquisite atmosphere to fry-up dining. Its industrial-slash-urban-green-space interior is perfect for casual dining (and it’s totally TikTok-worthy).

The menu is equally impressive, with quality ingredients and gorgeously plated dishes. Fry-ups here are more on the healthier side, with plenty of options that include veggies.

The Pan-Fried Wild Coley, while not your traditional fry-up, comes with a yummy Italian sausage that adds the right amount of greasiness. For a proper fry-up, go for the Counter Full, made with sausages, bacon, eggs, beans, chickpea salad, and sourdough.

You can’t go to this Ancoats treasure without trying out at least one of their cocktails! Pairing your meal with a mimosa is a no-brainer, especially on a weekend break!

Pro Tip:
Peak hours are busy at this spot. Try to avoid brunch or lunch times if you don’t fancy queuing up.

This coffee joint isn’t exactly brimming with fry-ups, but they do have the classic greasy spoon specials. Their Classic E&G Breakfast is hearty and delicious, composed of sausages, eggs, mushrooms, hash browns, roasted tomatoes, beans, and toast.

Meanwhile, the vegetarian option has smashed avocado and broccoli instead of sausages. Both are equally delish, by the way! And both also go well with a cocktail (especially during brunch), like a Bloody Mary or a Mimosa.

If you’re bringing your mates, order a pancake on the side (yes, on the side), because the sweet taste of this light and fluffy griddle cake with maple syrup cleanses off the greasiness from the palate.

Sustainability is also at the forefront of this small business, where they focus on zero waste. You might see some of the meals have slight variations sometimes, depending on the availability of their ingredients.

The size of this caff can be deceiving—it’s tiny, but its menu is anything but. There’s an all-day brunch and sandwiches, and you can add any available extra ingredients to your meal!

The Veggie and Vegan Breakfasts are both served with sausages made with soya, chickpeas, potatoes, sweet smokey beans, guacamole (made with pea and watercress), and toast. The vegan option comes with vegan spread, while the veggie will get butter.
