Pros
- Wide range of authentic products
- Affordable
- Has English translations for their products
Cons
- Records of poor customer service
- Limited space for shopping
‘Oseyo’ means ‘Welcome’ in Korean, which is the brand’s main focus when it comes to its customers. We did note that while this shop offers mostly Korean products, what kept us positive about them is that they also offer a lot of Japanese products as well.
They started in 2015 with a modest shop on Tottenham Court Road and, since then, have been revolutionizing the Asian supermarket business in the United Kingdom.
Furthermore, they have many outlets around the UK and counting. Because of this, we love that they’re dedicated to delivering the elegance and vibrancy of Asia to their customers.
This is evident in both their product offerings and facilities. The whole establishmentAffordable and well-organised, so you’ll never be lost in the wide range of offerings that they have.
Speaking of their offerings, we love that they have an English translation of their products which is quite helpful if you’re not familiar with a certain brand or product that they carry.
Moreover, their pricing is also affordable for authentic Asian products. Their drinks can cost as cheap as 99p, and their most expensive meat products can run at about £30.
That said, Oseyo has something for everyone. Whether you are a foreigner living in the UK or a foodie seeking new flavors, they surely won’t disappoint.

Pros
- Wide range of options
- Affordable
- Can order products through the website
Cons
- Records of poor customer service
- Claims of poor cell signal within the building
Next on our list is Kenji, located at the Arndale. We think they’re the perfect place for those who love Japanese stationery and novelty items.
It’s also worth mentioning that Kenji has a considerable selection of Japanese-inspired homewares, kitchenware, stationery, plushies, and various fashion accessories. Given the variety of items they sell, our team was pretty impressed!
In addition, we think customers will also enjoy the vibrancy and cuteness they give with their distinct and overwhelming Japanese design on every item.
The way we see it, they’re the perfect shop designed for gift products, with gorgeous items of good quality for their pricing.
Another great thing we love about them is that they also sell snacks and bubble tea. Based on our surveys, customers commend the quality of their food options, which is a big plus in our books.
What we’re a bit iffy about is their staff’s claims of poor customer service. Some people we spoke with even claimed that the staff is rude and not very helpful, and we think this can be a deterrent to the whole shopping experience.
In addition, we also noted that the store is in a dead spot for cellular service. For us, this is worth mentioning for those who’d like to use their service within the store.
Despite these drawbacks, we’re still positive about them because of their products and rave reviews, which makes them an excellent choice for getting Japanese and other Asian goods.

Pros
- Great quality apparel
- Affordable
- Offers online shopping
Cons
- Only offers clothes and apparel
- Self-service options aren’t well-developed
UNIQLO is one of the most well-known Japanese apparel shops worldwide. They take pride in providing great quality everyday items that can be used versatilely.
The main aspect we like about them is that, aside from having adaptable clothing items, their size ranges are also quite inclusive.
In addition, another notable thing about them is that their shops are all well organised and kept neat. This means customers can easily find items that suit their taste and size.
Can’t find a specific item in their physical shop? Don’t fret. They also offer online shopping options where customers can get things from other branches or stores in other countries – an aspect we love!
The only downside we found was that most of their UK stores operate on a self-service system. The way we see it, while it provides efficiency for their checkout process, it also causes a lot of complaints.
Based on our surveys, the self-service process isn’t as effective as most of them would like.
Despite this, there are still numerous positive claims regarding the overall shopping experience with them.
Given what UNIQLO offers, we think their overall simplicity and universal items is something to love, making them perfect for building your wardrobe without worrying about long-term quality.

Pros
- Great food quality
- Exceptional customer service
- Good ambiance for dining
- Affordable prices
Cons
- Does not offer goods for sale
- No website to find online menus
If you’re looking for one of the best places for a sushi run, look no further than Wazuhi (formerly known as Wasabi).
They’re located within the central district, which makes them accessible to almost any area within the northern quarter.
What sets them apart from other sushi places is that they are more affordable than most. They also provide takeaway options, which is a great way to satisfy your sushi cravings any time of the week.
In addition, we also love that their menu consists of both authentic sushi options as well as fusion-inspired dishes. We think this is a great way to explore other flavors you wouldn’t usually think to try.
That said, we think customers would be disappointed that they don’t have an online menu. After checking their website, it is still underway. Unfortunately, customers must visit them in person to explore their menu.
However, based on our research, they have vegetarian and vegan options, which keeps us positive about them and their offerings.
Furthermore, their pricing is also affordable and their portions are hefty. For £15, you can get five choices of sushi which is a considerable amount of food for one person!
By and large, we can honestly say that Wazuhi is one of the best choices for Japanese cuisine without breaking the bank.

Pros
- Affordable products
- Offers online shopping
- Can accommodate bulk orders
Cons
- Claims of bad customer service
- No English translations for items
Tuk Tuk Mart is a smaller branch of the leading Asian supermarket – Hang Won Hong. They’re well-known for providing authentic and affordable Oriental produce across the UK, so we decided to give them a visit.
Impressively, their offerings are pretty considerable despite their small shopping space!
Tuk Tuk Mart is located within the central district, making them a convenient stop for Asian grocery needs. We think that out of all of the entries on our list, they’re the most versatile ones.
In addition, we also noted that their offerings are also on the more affordable side. And as a bonus, customers would also be glad to know that their items can be ordered in bulk.
What we’re just a bit iffy about is that Tuk Tuk Mart doesn’t add any English translations to their products.
We think this can be a downside for those who are newer to Asian supermarket goods, as it can be confusing and overwhelming for first-timers.
Moreover, based on our surveys, their customer service isn’t that great. From what we’ve noted in our interviews, there are some cases of rudeness from their staff.
That said, we recommend that customers do some research before shopping with them to ensure they don’t run into any mishaps.
In any case, given their overall offerings and affordability, we still think they’re a great choice for buying Asian goods in bulk.
