Pros

  • Great menu offerings and promotions
  • Affordable
  • Responsive to online inquiries
  • Menu is available online

Cons

  • Some instances of slow service
  • Difficult to get a reservation during peak hours

The Shack is a repurposed garment warehouse that now occupies the entire ground floor of Hilton House.

Its central bar offers a wide variety of draught beers, craft bottled beers, as well as traditional and specialty cocktails.

They provide a wide range of grill options, including American-inspired burgers, ribs, steaks, and fowl, as well as their own special hot sauce.

In addition, what impressed us was their pancake offerings. Bottomless pancakes at The Shack are available for £12.50 for 90 minutes, but reservations are required.

On top of that, for an additional £15 per person, diners can upgrade to bottomless beverages and receive limitless Prosecco, Mimosas, Coors, Corona, Red Stripe, Aspall Cider, or Shack Fruit Cider.

Furthermore, make the day even better with limitless Pornstar Martinis, frozen strawberry daiquiris, house spirit, and mixer for only £25 per person.

We think these prices are fairly reasonable, and are actually a great deal when dining with large groups.

The basic pancake, strawberry and cream, Biscoff and berries, caramelised banana, Nutella and caramel, and fried chicken are all available as add-ons.

One major downside to them is their slow service. After having interviewed their customers, there are multiple claims of slow service with them.

We think that this is not a big deal breaker, however. But we understand it may be a frustrating factor to the overall dining experience.

All things considered, we honestly think they’re still one of the best places to get pancakes around Manchester.

Pros

  • Allergens are available on the website
  • Has multiple locations
  • Wide variety of breakfast options

Cons

  • Claims of slow service
  • Limited pancake options

A pancake list wouldn’t be complete without Moose Coffee as it is a well-known breakfast spot in Manchester.

Established in 2006, the establishment came from the love of the wonderful American breakfast culture, which is best exemplified by New York City’s eateries and delis.

Now operating out of two locations in the city, Moose offers some of the town’s thickest, most filling pancakes. Think delectable toppings like apple and salted caramel, chocolate peanut butter, banana and pecan, and berry compote with mascarpone!

Three enormous pancakes are served in each stack, and they are all drizzled with butter and maple syrup.

If some people in your group don’t feel like eating pancakes, Moose Coffee has a selection of flavorful sandwiches and a handcrafted specialty board offered on the brunch menu.

We also like that they source the food and coffee ethically and use premium products to make sure every dish is of good quality.

But despite their positive traits, we must mention that their pancake offerings are quite limited compared to the other entries on this list.

Moreover, based on our surveys, a lot of customers claim that their service can be slow during peak hours. Unfortunately, they don’t have any online reservations, so this might be a challenge for some.

Overall, we still think they’re an excellent choice for those looking for a wide range of breakfast options throughout the day.

Pros

  • Vegan and vegetarian options are available.
  • Wide variety of choices on the menu
  • Big serving portions

Cons

  • Claims that food isn’t as appetising as those in the photos
  • Slow service

In the centre of Manchester City Centre, there is a breakfast and brunch restaurant called 19 Café Bar. Impressively, they’ve earned a reputation for serving some of the fluffiest pancake stacks in Manchester.

At 19, they take pride in using the freshest ingredients, such as sourcing their sausages locally and selling coffee roasted locally by Heart and Graft.

All of these and more piqued our interest in 19 Café Bar. Upon further research, we were  even more impressed with their offerings.

With pancakes available every day, not just on Pancake Day, 19 Cafe Bar is truly the pancake king of Manchester.

Customers may choose from a variety of extra-special American stacks on the menu, including bacon with maple syrup, fresh fruit, Lotus Biscoff, and even Kinder chocolate.

They really are a sweet tooth’s dream!

On the other hand, despite the rave reviews about their food, we can’t help but mention that we noted some complaints regarding the slow service from their staff.

We think this can be a deal breaker, especially for those who don’t have the luxury of time to dine with them for a prolonged period.

However, as much of a downside as this can be, their overall ambiance and offers still make 19 Café Bar an excellent choice for your flapjack cravings.

Pros

  • Wide variety on menu offerings
  • Excellent customer service
  • Great dining ambiance

Cons

  • Not the best for intimate set ups
  • Inconsistent food quality

In Deansgate, Manchester, The Botanist is a hospitable restaurant and cocktail bar that serves meals, brunch, substantial roasts, live music, and late-night cocktails.

In addition, they have a well-stocked cellar of cask-conditioned ales, over 40 beers and ciders in bottles from different countries, a variety of the finest Champagnes, and an exciting cocktail menu.

Furthermore, we’re impressed that The Botanist serves food in the form of a deli-style cuisine that includes rotisserie and barbecue.

As for their pancake options, we were thoroughly impressed by their serving with a dangling kebab made of little pancakes.

The hanging kebab, which has been a best-seller in past years, is available in a variety of tastes. These include chocolate brownie pieces and hot chocolate sauce or marshmallows and strawberries with a lemon drizzle.

For those who have their eyes bigger than their stomachs, it is undoubtedly a feast.

Even so, we have to be transparent and share their downsides. Based on our surveys, the food quality for their viands can be a hit or miss — we think this can potentially ruin the dining experience for newcomers.

Furthermore, given the lively ambiance we think that it might not be the best for intimate setups.

That said, given their unique spin on pancakes and their positive factors overall, it makes them an excellent choice.

Pros

  • Great menu offerings
  • Shops sell their products
  • Excellent food quality

Cons

  • Menu is limited to desserts

Black Milk is a premier dessert café in Manchester. By combining innovative new desserts with timeless favourites, they strive to deliver the greatest experience imaginable.

They’re located in Oldham Street, in the Northern Quarter, which makes them accessible to the central district.

What impressed us more about them is their dessert menu. Based on our interviews with clients, their menu options have a lot of variety to them as well as excellent quality.

Nothing is too sweet or costly for this gorgeous dessert store on Oldham Street, which is a definite must-visit when it comes to sweets. But our team’s favourite here are the pancakes!

Black Milk has everything you could think of adding to your pancakes, from Kinderella to Biscoff, lashings of either pistachio chocolate or peanut butter, cookies and cream, or caramel! Brilliant, right?

We like them more compared to others as they do listen to customer feedback and are more than willing to make things right – a huge plus in our books!
