Pros

  • Caters to both patients and professionals
  • Offer training courses
  • Affiliated with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy
  • Over 20 psychotherapists on board

Cons

  • May have a long waiting list for specific specializations

We find it impressive that Manchester Institute for Psychotherapy can cater to patients and professionals. Here, they offer psychotherapy and training services for those who aspire to be counselors in the field.

Since they are also a member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), anyone who hires them for their services will be at ease knowing they are in good hands.

Speaking of the UKCP, we highly recommend this place for those looking for psychotherapy training. Furthermore, their affiliation allows their students to be accredited by the said organization after graduation.

On top of this, we also reviewed their curriculum and are happy to share that they have courses available for all types of knowledge levels in the industry. So we think they will be an excellent place to upskill – whether you are a beginner or a veteran.

Now, as for their psychotherapy services for patients, we also cannot complain about their services. They have over 20 highly-qualified psychotherapists on board who have their specializations.

Furthermore, they have three specialists in the clinic who focus on therapy sessions for children and young adults. According to our research, this is one of their popular services here.

Unfortunately, since they are in demand for young patients, there can be a long waiting list for the therapists who specializes in them. With this, we suggest that you contact them in advance.

Pros

  • Highly-qualified team members
  • Good for patients who will transfer from another therapist
  • Accessible location and cozy interior

Cons

  • Complicated pricing

What sets City Centre Therapy apart is the expertise of their team members. So we are delighted to see that each of them has a detailed bio on their website.

Their founder, Bod Cantwell, stood out to us the most because of his rich experience in the field. He is educated with BSc in Psychotherapy and later an MSc in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy.

Through his advanced studies in the field, he built good relationships with his clients. His good rapport with clients is echoed by a long–term patient who shared that they feel safe with the methods that Bod applies in their sessions for Cognitive Behaviorial Therapy.

We should also mention that some of his clients are unsatisfied patients from other clinics. According to them, they did not feel like the approach from such professionals suited them.

With this in mind, we suggest Bod and his team to those who feel like they are no longer suitable with the psychotherapist who is currently treating them.

We also give them plus points for their accessible location and cozy interiors. This accessibility will lessen the pressure and anxiety for patients who may find it difficult to attend their sessions.

Unfortunately, there is a different story when it comes to their pricing. Their range is between £80 to £100, depending on the professional who will cater to you, which can confuse prospective patients.

Keeping this in mind, it would be best that you clarify the rate of the particular psychotherapist who will see you before making any commitment.

Pros

  • Established in 1995
  • Renowned psychotherapist
  • Personalized services

Cons

  • More expensive compared to other providers

If you are looking for an established psychotherapy clinic, Brookhouse Psychotherapy might be the one you need. They were established in 1995 and have consistently provided reliable services in the field.

The clinic was founded by Shaun Brookhouse, who is equally renowned in the industry. He is an Honorary Fellow and Accredited Member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy.

On top of this, he also has international affiliations that are even more impressive. Some of his notable memberships are with the European Association for Psychotherapy and the World Council for Psychotherapy.

With his experience and expertise in the field, we are not surprised that he offers a wide range of services for his patients. Here, he can cater to almost all types of conditions that can be treated by psychotherapy.

Here, he will spend time with the client to understand their condition. After that, he will customize the program to help you achieve your desired result.

We believe that this makes Brookhouse Psychotherapy a perfect choice for those with complex issues they want to address.

However, as expected, such a high caliber of treatment can come with high costs. After consulting with some patients, they shared that the rates here are higher than other providers.

Pros

  • Impressive credentials of the therapist
  • Caters to a wide range of conditions
  • Offers both brief and long term services

Cons

  • Long waiting list

Inner Changes Psychotherapy is another clinic with an impressive therapist. The founder, Nigel Magowan, is accredited and registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).

On top of this, he is also a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). In addition, he is also part of the  Accredited Contemporary Psychotherapist (AccMCCP) – which is very impressive if you ask us.

With all of these formidable affiliations, we are confident that he practices with the highest standards required in the field. We also believe that these will give prospective patients that they are in capable hands.

We are also happy with the wide range of services that he can offer. People with more complicated issues can come here and ask for help due to his expertise.

As such, it’s not surprising that he has been able to cater to thousands of clients since he started his full-time private practice in 2002.

On top of this, we also like that he can cater to both brief therapy (which usually last for six to eighteen sessions) and life coaching. Through this, you can still regularly catch up with him after a series of intensive psychotherapy sessions.

The only downside is that Inner Changes Psychotherapy may not be a good option for emergency cases. Since Nigel is a sought-after professional, there is usually a long waiting list for his services.

Pros

  • Accessible location
  • Comfortable and private
  • Offers services for pairs and groups
  • Flexible services

Cons

  • May have a long waiting list

If you are looking for a psychotherapist in an accessible location, then Didsbury Counselling and Therapy Centre is a good choice. They are at the heart of West Didsbury, which makes them very easy to locate.

We also like that they are keen on the privacy and comfort of their patients. Here, they will carefully set your schedule so that you will not be required to wait in their lobby.

With this, we suggest that you book an appointment in advance. Since therapists need to have time between clients, they may sometimes have long waiting lists.

Although, their capacity to provide psychotherapy services to pairs and groups makes them stand out to us. According to our research, only a handful of clinics can provide this service well.

Some of their most typical clients are couples who want to improve their relationships. Through a qualified practitioner, you can unpack the issues that may be negatively affecting your life with your partner.

They also assist work colleagues in sorting differences that prevent them from working their best. We believe this may be a good company perk business owners can offer their employees.

Another good thing about them is their flexibility. Depending on the patient’s preference, they offer both virtual and face-to-face sessions.

We like their emphasis on a client-driven approach, starting with an initial consultation, which showcases a commitment to tailoring therapeutic interventions to individual needs. This personalized approach can contribute to a more effective and meaningful therapeutic journey.

Furthermore, the psychotherapist’s extensive experience, including working closely with male issues, gender diversity, and LGBT+ issues, demonstrates a commitment to understanding and addressing diverse client needs. The qualifications in trauma-focused therapy add an additional layer of expertise.

Note though that slot limitations may occur when availing of their counseling services so interested clients may need to book with them in advance for the matter.

Overall, The Therapy Place presents itself as a welcoming space for individuals seeking psychotherapy in Manchester. The client-driven approach, inclusive environment, and positive client feedback are strong points in favor of considering The Therapy Place for mental health support.
