Pros
- Good food quality
- Affordable
- Offers online delivery
Cons
- Records of poor customer service
- Not much variety on menu
Don Tacos is a hidden gem in the Curry Mile at Rusholme, offering some of the most authentic soft tacos in Manchester, including the incredible Don Tacos trademark spice blend.
We love that they’re located in one of the most famous areas of Manchester because it’s easier for locals and foreigners to find them.
The prices for their tacos are two for £7, three for £9, and four for £12.50, which we think is great given their hefty and tasty portions.
In addition, they also have plant-based selections for vegetarians and vegans, which is great to have in general.
Furthermore, their menu indicates the spice level, but beware—they are all extremely hot! So, we think this is something to consider for those who aren’t into too much spice.
As for their drinks, tequila, Jarritos, and horchata are available too. For us, their drink choices tie in well with their dishes.
We think customers should know that they have records of poor customer service. Based on our interviews, many customers claimed their staff can be slow and inattentive.
That said, we don’t expect that much from them service-wise since they’re more of a grab-and-go type of food place, but they are still a great taco place overall.

Pros
- Lively atmosphere
- Excellent customer service
- Available to hire for private events
Cons
- Limited seating
- Not for intimate setups
Sandinista is a cantina pub featuring Spanish tapas, live music, and Cuban-inspired cocktails.
Rock and roll fans will be glad to know that rock music mostly inspires their theme.
This can be seen primarily in their interiors, with artwork and music album covers covering the walls while also being Havana-inspired, with a big bar and mahogany cantina seats.
Another great thing we love about them is that they serve a great assortment of shared tapas dishes with a strong emphasis on fresh local ingredients.
Furthermore, their bar is packed to the gills with rare spirits, rums, and tequilas, and it offers a fantastic selection of cocktails and international beers.
We’re impressed that they have various choices since this is only sometimes the case for other tapas bars around the area.
On the weekends, DJs start the party off with a diverse selection of rock, punk, soul, reggae, and motown. Additionally, they have a bar in the basement that is great for renting out for celebrations like birthdays.
That said, we also have to mention some downsides to them. As lively and fun as this place can be, there are better choices for intimate setups.
However, we think their overall ambiance would make them the perfect choice for groups who want to enjoy Mexican food with a buzzing atmosphere.

Pros
- Located near the Central District
- Affordable
- Lively ambiance
- Great food quality
Cons
- Records of poor customer service
- Hard to reserve a table during peak hours
Las Iguanas is a well-known Mexican chain restaurant in Manchester. They’re the ideal restaurant for your next party, corporate event, or family gathering.
We love that Las Iguanas offers a taste of Latin living with various fresh Latin American meals. And because they’re located in Deansgate, it makes them pretty accessible wherever in Manchester you may be.
In addition, they are known for their personalized burrito bowls, burritos, tacos, and salads.
Although these dishes are similar to other restaurants, what impressed us further is that they claim to use only fresh ingredients to prepare their dishes.
This is quite evident with all the rave reviews we’ve gotten about them. For us, we love that they keep the authenticity and quality of their servings.
Based on our interviews, not only do they serve amazing dishes, but they’re also commended for their outstanding service and welcoming atmosphere.
The only caveat is that it’s easier to come in and get a table with them with a reservation due to their popularity, especially during peak hours.
We recommend customers book in advance to ensure everything runs smoothly in their plans.
Despite this downside, we think that their positive reputation precedes them and customers won’t be disappointed.

Pros
- Wide variety of options
- Offers vegan and vegetarian options
- Affordable
Cons
- Food quality can be a hit or miss
- Records of poor customer service
Luck Lust Liquor and Burn delivers Mexican food with a twist, including exquisite American-inspired small plates, burritos, and, of course, tacos. They’re located on High Street, within the Northern Quarter, which makes them pretty accessible.
At first glance, we weren’t too impressed to see that their taco options are limited. However, upon further exploration, we were happy to find that their servings are hefty enough to satisfy you.
In addition, their menu also has vegan and vegetarian options, which isn’t common with Mexican restaurants.
Furthermore, based on our surveys, their Cali Dreamin and Californication tacos are two of the most raved-about items on their menu, with fillings including birria beef and vegan cajun chicken.
Although this may be true, we noted that most customers weren’t too happy about their overall customer service. Client’s that we’ve talked to mentioned that they have slow service.
Furthermore, their food quality can be a hit or miss, which is something that customers may want to consider before dining with them.
In spite of these downsides, we still stand by our positive recommendation to them because of how affordable and accessible they are, and it’s still a notable point in our books.

Pros
- Affordable
- Excellent food quality
- Great customer service
Cons
- Long wait times
- Limited menu options
Wolf at the Door is a late-night party bar in the center of the Northern Quarter. They have a unique cocktail menu, over 150 whiskeys, specialty brews, and natural wine on two floors. The ground floor bar has 15 beer taps, including the city’s only Omnipollo permanent line.
Tacos, bao buns, and fries are the only items on the menu, which is limited if you ask us. However, prices for a piece of two begin at £2, and that is very affordable.
In addition, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free alternatives are available, and they serve dishes until their closing hour.
Their second floor has a standalone cocktail station and Scandi-inspired design, with a full-size canoe dangling over the bar.
Furthermore, their graffiti-covered walls and hip-hop music call for a dynamic atmosphere throughout the week. This makes them perfect for a lively night out for large groups.
From what we’ve seen, the only drawback is the lengthy wait periods. Because of how popular this business may be, most of the customers we spoke with said it took a long time to get served.
We recommend customers arrive early to avoid peak hours or call ahead to reserve a table. In that case, Wolf at the Door is a solid place to get affordable tacos without sacrificing the dish’s quality.
