3 Axe-Throwing Ranges in Manchester to Shake up Your Weekend
My family and I recently started ‘Try Something New Saturdays’. The idea is simple: each weekend, one of us gets to pick an exciting activity that no one in the family has ever tried before.
The past few weeks have been interesting and refreshing, to say the least. We’ve tackled a treetop adventure at Go Ape Rivington, tried some activity bars, and even attended a cooking class.
So when it was my turn to think of an activity, I’ll admit I panicked a bit. Thankfully, I found a cool and adventurous way to spend an afternoon, just in the nick of time: axe-throwing.
Work has got all of us knackered, and this is the perfect way to release some stress. We ended up having such a good time that I decided to write about it so that you can try it too. Here are the best axe-throwing ranges in Manchester for your next free weekend!

Adventure Now is the place to go for fun, adrenaline-pumping outdoor activities. Since they have loads of options, it’s perfect if you want to switch things up and try something new.
The axe-throwing activity here was challenging but so satisfying. It takes a while to get the hang of it, but once you do, it gets more interesting. You’d learn to experiment with different throwing styles and techniques.
The staff will guide you and let you go through a safety briefing from a qualified axe-throwing instructor, so you don’t have to worry too much. Just bring your A-game and listen to the instructions well.
The axe IS heavy, so it does get tiring after a while. Get enough sleep the night before and make sure to eat something so you have plenty of energy.
Since it’s an outdoor venue, the place is spacious enough to have a woodland throwing range. We like that we didn’t have to worry about sharing targets.
While we didn’t try them at the time, we were glad to know that they offered a wide range of activities like archery, knife-throwing, quad-biking, air rifles, crossbows, pistol shooting, and clay shooting. They sound fun and we’ll totally be back next time!
Pro Tip: You can have a campfire lunch here for just £10. You can bring the food you want to cook over an open fire, and they’ll take care of the rest. They provide the cutlery, plates, and utensils. You’ll get a comfortable place to get your grub on as well. Perfect for families and groups of friends! |

Boom Battle Bar is great for a night out. The vibe is fun, boisterous, and quite cheeky. There are a lot of fun games and activities, and one of them is axe-throwing.
They have two axe-throwing lanes that can accommodate one to ten people per lane. So your group can share one lane for about 30 to 60 minutes. To clarify, that’s the total time of the activity, not the time allocated per person – so make the most of it.
For safety reasons, you are not allowed to drink before this activity. So make sure you do this activity first before anything else.
You also have to wear closed shoes, and long hair must be tied at all times. They will be giving a safety briefing before the activity, so as always, make sure to listen well. Only adults 18 years old and above can try this experience; they’ll ask you to present an ID and sign a waiver.
Aside from axe throwing, Boom Battle Bar has other exciting activities. You can shoot your puck on the shuffleboard, play augmented reality darts (I know, cool right?), try your luck at beer pong, or sing your heart out in their karaoke booths.
We also like that they serve good food and drink here. They have fully loaded fries, wings, cheese bites, and chicken tenders – so deliciously addictive. They’re perfect with beer, cocktails, and good company.
Pro Tip: Take advantage of their happy hour, which is from Mondays to Thursdays at 4 to 7 PM. Yes, it’s not just an hour here. You get two cocktails for the price of one. Our favourites are the classic mojitos and fruity daiquiris. |
