Cake Box is a popular bakery known for its great service, variety of flavours, and custom order options. With multiple locations around the city, it’s super convenient!
We love their huge menu with all sorts of cakes, pastries, and desserts. Plus, they offer eggless, vegan, and gluten-free options.
According to the regulars we’ve spoken with, their cakes are fresh, tasty, and beautifully decorated. However, some noticed that the quality can be a bit hit or miss, so that’s something to keep in mind.
On a brighter note, the staff at Cake Box are friendly and accommodating. Plus they’re quick and pay close attention to detail, making the whole experience hassle-free.
Prices are reasonable for the quality that they offer, making it a great option for special occasions or a sweet treat.
Additionally, the shops are clean and well-maintained with neat displays of their delicious offerings. We’re just a bit iffy about the lack of parking, which can be a pain, especially for those picking up a big order.
Pros
- Excellent service levels
- Wide variety of flavours available
- Offers custom orders
- Multiple locations around the city
Cons
- No parking near the establishment
- Records of inconsistent food quality

Pollen Bakery is a beloved Viennoiserie bakery known for its high-quality sourdough, pastries, and cakes since 2016.
What caught our attention to them was their wide range of artisanal baked goods, from famous sourdough bread to various pastries and cakes.
They also have a seasonal brunch menu and specialty coffees, making them a favourite for breakfast and brunch lovers.
However, we noticed some minor issues that affected our experience. For one, while the staff is friendly and helpful, the service can be slow during busy times.
Secondly, the Kampus and Ancoats locations are charming but a bit far from the city centre, which can be inconvenient for some.
Finally, prices are a bit high, but the generous portions and top-notch ingredients make it worth it. We felt that we got their money’s worth, especially with the signature items!
Plus, they’re a great place to visit for coffee and pastry or a leisurely brunch.
Pros
- Highly-raved food quality
- Serves large portions
- Wide range of flavours and choices
Cons
- Inconsistent service levels
- Long wait times
- Far from the city centre
Food looked and tasted amazing!
“We went mid morning on a Saturday, there was a Q but it didn’t take long and we got seated quickly. Food looked and tasted amazing! We got the sausage and egg brioche bun and the Tiramisu French toast! Both were incredible! We also got some Focaccia and other pastries to take home! I’m definitely coming back!”

Hey Little Cupcake! is a charming bakery our team loves because of their delightful cupcakes and friendly atmosphere.
The bakery is conveniently located near the city centre and accessible by city buses, which is a huge plus for convenience!
On top of this, the facilities are clean and well-maintained, providing a cosy and inviting environment. The seating area is charmingly decorated, perfect for enjoying a sweet treat.
However, the limited opening times can be inconvenient for some customers, especially those looking to visit at the start of the week.
Even so, we remain positive about them because they offer a wide range of flavours and great customer service, plus baking classes for those who want to improve their skills.
The overall quality of the cupcakes is generally good, however, some customers have noted occasional issues with taste or texture.
As for their pricing, we think that Hey Little Cupcake! offers good value for money, with affordable prices, making it perfect for budget-conscious customers.
Pros
- Excellent service levels
- Wide range of flavours available
- Offers baking classes
Cons
- Records of inconsistent quality
- Limited opening times

We’re also fans of the food here! In fact, many regulars we spoke with also raved about the fresh offerings and fantastic flavours.
We also appreciate that Teatime Collective offers good value for money. We felt we got a fair deal for the tasty, thoughtfully prepared desserts and food.
We think that the cafe’s happy customers and positive reviews are thanks to its consistent food quality and excellent service.
However, we noted that they could be a bit better at responding to inquiries and bookings since they took some time responding to us.
Pros
- Consistent food quality
- Excellent customer service
- Offers catering services
Cons
- Far from the city centre
- Responsiveness could be better

Fantastic vegan cakes!
“Fantastic vegan cakes! They catered my friends’ wedding years ago and absolutely killed it, winning over many meat eaters! Picked up a couple cakes from Didsbury market today. Delicious & hefty portions. Highly recommended for vegans & non Vegans alike.”

Sicilian NQ Cakes and Patisserie is a place dessert lovers in our team really enjoy. They’re an Italian restaurant, bar, and patisserie – it’s not a cake shop, overall, but their cakes and desserts are worth considering.
We definitely love how their offerings are a mix of Italian food and sweet treats! While their desserts are a highlight, we must mention that they don’t have a huge variety of cakes.
Whenever we’re here, we can’t help but close our eyes and just slowly indulge in their cakes and desserts. From the taste, we can say that they’re made with high-quality ingredients. Plus, they all look fantastic!
Though they don’t have a wide range of cake choices and don’t offer delivery, we liked that they offer good value for money.
Whether it’s for a sweet treat, a meal, or a drink at the bar, Sicilian NQ provides a great experience that keeps us coming back.
Pros
- Highly-raved cake quality
- Offers vegan and vegetarian options
- Excellent customer service
Cons
- Not a lot of variety in cake choices
- Doesn’t do deliveries
I highly recommend it.
