Pros

  • Sizeable menu
  • Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options
  • Chicken, beef, and lamb are halal
  • Prices are adequate

Cons

  • Service is slow

The new Ecco Pizzeria has opened in Manchester and it’s definitely been getting attention from the locals. This establishment specialises in making Neapolitan-style pizzas, and we think they seem to be doing a great job at it thus far.

What we like about Ecco Pizzeria is how their menu, whether it be dine-in or takeaway, consists of a plethora of pizza options for people to choose from. Moreover, they also have pasta, calzones, and gelato for variety.

We appreciate that they not only have classic flavours such as the Margherita but also have pizzas that feature flavours from different cities around the world. We recommend trying their Bombay pizza–it’s one of their best-sellers for a reason!

Aside from their chicken, beef, and lamb being halal, we also appreciate how they have vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options available. We noticed that gluten-free alternatives come with a fee, but thankfully only a small one.

Although their menu is quite sizable, we did feel as though their service was a bit slow, especially considering that later diners received their orders earlier than we did. Still, we were glad that the staff was friendly and tried their best to accommodate our needs.

Despite the slow service, we were pleased to see that portion sizes for both the pizzas and the pasta were pretty large. We definitely were not able to finish everything, but were more than happy to take some of these pizzas home!

We honestly thought that prices were not all that bad considering its size and its flavour. Paying £8 for a 12” inch pizza rich in taste is something we wouldn’t mind doing again in the future.

Overall, we think Ecco Pizzeria is a great place to get halal Neapolitan pizzas despite their long waiting time. Their city-themed pizzas combined with their filling portions and good prices are definitely a recipe for a good meal!

  • Friendly and energetic staff
  • Late closing hours

Cons

  • Long waiting time

Next on our list is a newly established halal pizzeria by the name of Impasto Pizza located in Cheetham Hill Road.

What we first noticed was how this quaint pizzeria had quite a large menu that consisted of a wide variety of items. Aside from their pizzas, we liked that they had pasta, peri-peri chicken, hamburgers, and desserts.

Despite their many options, we decided to stick to their pizzas, considering that it was their speciality. We like that they had familiar flavours, but also had their own original recipes like their Chicken Tikka pizza.

Alternatively, if none of them seems to fit your fancy, we were glad that customers also had the option to build their own pizza.

Additionally, we appreciated how they have gluten-free buns and options available. However, we did not that ordering these would incur a small fee of £2.

We found that the service was quite friendly and energetic. We liked that the owners of the restaurant were also around to keep a sharp eye on things, and felt comforted that they attended to our needs as well as the needs of other diners.

But, we did note that waiting for our meals took longer than what was expected. We were disappointed that it took about an hour and a half to get our pizza out of the kitchen, as we expected around 10-20 minutes.

Still, despite the long wait, we were very much pleased to see that portions were large and pizza toppings were adequate. Given this, we honestly thought that £11 for a pizza was pretty reasonable.

In the end, we did enjoy our stay at Impasto Pizza despite the long wait. We highly recommend ordering some starters, though, so as to keep yourselves sane while waiting.

Pros

  • Late closing hours
  • All ingredients are halal
  • Staff is very accommodating
  • Has vegetarian options

Cons

  • Minimal toppings

Located in Fallowfield is a Fireaway Designer Pizza–a humble halal pizzeria that’s made its impact across different parts of the UK.

What we like about Fireaway is how even though their menu is slightly limited, they sure are focused. We noted that they have no other main courses aside from their pizzas, but have other menu items such as side dishes, desserts, and drinks.

What we found interesting, though, were their dessert pizzas, such as their Nutella Banana Pizza, which we definitely had to try!

Their normal pizza flavours, however, we thought were nothing all that special. We found that most of them were common flavours you can find elsewhere, but we didn’t mind the familiarity.

Alternatively, we like that they also let customers build their own pizzas should they want something a bit more customised.

We appreciate that the small establishment had friendly staff that made sure we were attended to. Glasses of water were refilled promptly, and our waiter constantly notified us of the status of our order.

We liked that the waiting time was not that long nor too short, but just about the usual 20-minute mark for making pizzas.

However, upon being served, we did notice that the portion sizes were not quite as big as we thought. Moreover, we also couldn’t help but feel as though they were saving up on toppings, as we found them quite lacking.

We do think that paying £8 for a Fireaway Designer Pizza was adequate, but we can surely say that there are other places that can do better for about the same price.

All in all, Fireaway Designer Pizza is a good option when you’re wanting something simple, affordable, and most importantly, halal!
