10 Best Hotpot Restaurants in Manchester To Satisfy Your Cravings

I first encountered hotpot when I visited Taiwan last summer, and honestly, the experience completely blew me away.

I absolutely loved everything about it – the comforting pot of simmering broth and delicious meat, the chance to explore different flavours and dips, and the fun communal dining style.

When I got back home, I craved it immediately, especially on chilly Manchester nights. With the help of my friends, I began searching for the best hotpot places here in the city, and now we’ve compiled this list for fellow hotpot lovers in the area.

So if you’re craving hotpot like us or just fancy trying something new, keep reading!

Azuma is a delightful discovery we made on Cavendish Street. Popular among students, it’s a great place to go to for authentic Chinese cuisine that won’t burn a hole in your pocket.

We love that they offer the option to have all-you-can-eat hotpot and BBQ or order à la carte depending on your appetite. But in our experience, we always go for the all-you-can-eat option, and we’ve never regretted it.

Once you’re seated, you’ll receive a menu on a piece of paper, and you can tick off and order whatever you fancy with your hotpot. They have a wide selection of high-quality sliced meats, seafood, veggies, and homemade noodles on their menu.

As for the broth, it’s very flavorful, and you can choose two kinds at a given time, so you get the best of both worlds. They have spicy, herbal, tomato, and mushroom-based broth options to choose from.

Pro Tip: You’ll get the best price for all-you-can-eat hotpot on weekdays during lunchtime at £22.8 compared to £28.8 on evenings and weekends!

A Plus Hotpot made us feel like we’re in the future, with a robot delivering food to our table! This hotpot and BBQ place in Manchester’s Chinatown looks modern, clean, and spacious. It’s great for big gatherings with friends and family, as well as satisfying late-night cravings.

The meat and seafood are fresh and tasty. They only use premium ingredients, which is why the price is also premium. But you get a lot of value for your money here.

Some must-orders for us here are the wagyu, marbled feet, and chicken feet. Overall, we love the food, the size of servings, and the warm service!

Pro Tip: If you’re light eaters, consider ordering half-servings of the food to minimise food waste.

The staff is warm and excellent. They will guide you through their menu and help you maximise your hotpot experience. We can see how it’s a beginner-friendly place if you have no idea what to get yet, so don’t be intimidated!

We love the wagyu here, and the scallops and prawns are always so fresh. As a bonus, you get free fruits and ice cream for dessert – talk about service.

XiongQi Hot Pot is well-known nationwide, with seven branches across the country. We tried the branch in Faulkner and loved the professional and warm customer service, efficient systems, and delicious food!

What’s unique here is the wide range of uncommon culinary delights such as ox tongue, freshly sliced mutton, style layer tripe, and prawn mash with bamboo fungus. This is the place to be for adventurous foodies out there!

Business Hours: Daily (11:30 AM – 9 PM)

Malatang Express is a hidden gem in Oxford. It doesn’t do a lot of fancy marketing, but the food speaks for itself. If you like yummy, chewy, handmade noodles with your choice of fresh meat, veggies, and seafood, you’ll enjoy it here.

One thing we tried here that was different was the laksa curry base, and it was rich, flavorful, and comforting.

Pro Tip: Four words. Sheng Jian Bao dumplings. They’re little flavour bombs that are fluffy and juicy, that you should not miss.

Soup Co

Menu

Pricing: ££

Address: Unit B5, City Tower, Mosley St

Business Hours: Daily (10 AM – 10:30 PM)

The good thing about Soup Co is that everything is set up buffet-style, so you get to completely control what meat, seafood, and vegetables to include in your bowl, as well as the quantity. They have halal, veggie, and vegan-friendly ingredients.

Something we appreciate is that it’s an introvert-friendly place. You don’t need to bring other people to enjoy hotpot if you want alone time. You can just buy a single serving that you can finish on your own.

They have a variety of broth options, including spicy malatang, tomato, laksa, and tom yum. Our personal favourite is the tom yum base.

Pro Tip: If you’re feeling adventurous, Soup Co offers frog legs as one of their toppings for hotpot. Our take? The taste of frog legs reminds us of chicken.

If what you’re looking for is variety, Red Restaurant is a good option. Aside from the hotpot buffet, they also have an all-you-can-eat BBQ and authentic Chinese dishes on their menu.

We also appreciate that they offer set meals, suitable for two to three people, which include soup, viands, and rice. We personally love Set Meal B – the crabmeat and sweetcorn soup is mindblowing, and there’s a good mix of seafood, duck, chicken, and beef.

The servings are quite hearty, so the food here is filling. If you have vegetarian friends or family, you’d be glad to know that they have a vegetarian set meal that you can order as well.

Pro Tip: For the BBQ and hotpot buffet, a minimum of two people is required to order them here. It’s a good date idea, if you ask us.

We like that you have the freedom to customise your base, ingredients, and cook everything to your liking. Aside from the fresh meat, we also like ordering the seafood platter and the handmade ball platter when we don’t feel like eating too heavily.

That said, the food here is quite pricey, but we think you’ll get a lot of value for money. Something to note is that it is a restaurant inside a casino, so it’s not the most family-friendly place. It’s better suited for groups of friends.

Pro Tip: Don’t hesitate to ask for assistance regarding sauce pairing. The staff is very friendly.

What’s unique here is that you can choose the ingredients for your hotpot from a conveyor belt. It’s a pretty cool and quite fun experience because there’s an element of surprise. My friends and I got a kick out of playfully racing to get ingredients we liked.

The broth is uber flavorful, and all the ingredients taste fresh. We also like that the price point is reasonable, even student-friendly!

Some must-orders are the marbled ribeye and the humongous king prawns. We love these with some enoki mushrooms.

Pro Tip: This place is ideal for people who want a little me-time. They encourage solo diners.

If you’re craving authentic Cantonese fare, No 110 Chinese Restaurant is a great option. The staff is responsive, there are no long wait times, and the interior of the place is beautiful. The price range is also not heavy on the wallet.

If you love eating crab and seafood, this restaurant is a huge win because the servings are huge and everything is always fresh. The broth is made special with quality ingredients, and it’s so comforting to eat on cold days.

Aside from hotpot, we also like dishes like their sea bass fillets with pickled pepper, eggplant casserole, and dim sum!

Note that No 110 Chinese Restaurant is also located inside Genting Casino, so kids aren’t allowed here.

Pro Tip: Order the fresh coconut juice if it’s available! It’s fresh, and you drink it out of the husk. Additionally, it offers numerous health benefits.
