It was no shocker when Manchester Tutor made it to our list, as they’re a tutoring centre in Manchester that offers flexibility through and through. For starters, they teach maths for 11 Plus exams, GCSE, and A-Levels.
In addition, their tutors are available for home and online tuition, bringing in the accessibility that can accommodate various student schedules. Those in school, college, and university can find a spot here!
They make it more flexible by offering private and student tutors. The latter still went through the proper hiring process, which ensures they have a deep understanding of maths, and only those with high marks are accepted.
The parents on our team primarily loved the programs, including back-to-school maths workshops to help students get back to the learning groove. When available, it has limited slots, but it makes sense to keep class sizes small.
Lastly, we’ve seen massive progress in the students they’ve taught. Some parents whose kids struggled in maths became more engaged in the subject!

The supportive environment we’ve seen deserves praise, too. It simply shows how brilliant the tutors have been, as they provide a targeted approach to address learning gaps.
Absolutely brilliant
“James and his tutors have been absolutely brilliant. They are super helpful and accommodating. The tutors tailored the learning to our son’s specific needs in English and Maths. We feel that they definitely made a difference (although we have not had his GSCE results yet). Will definitely use them again for his A Levels.”

At Principal Tutors, the learner will only receive tutoring from someone who is suitable based on their abilities, needs, and location. It’s done through a tutor-pupil matching system, ensuring an overall positive learning environment.
Of course, every learner will be matched with a qualified tutor who has a university degree at the very least. It’s even more incredible that all tutors have classroom experience, including knowledge of the UK curriculum.
They’re rather accessible for every student, offering in-person and online session, as well as private and group tutoring sessions in Manchester. It’s a pity that in-person tutoring won’t always be available, though.
Online tutoring has been effective, still. When we spoke to parents, their children enjoyed the flexibility and comfortable environment of virtual sessions. It comes with feedback every time, and recorded sessions are available upon request.
What truly stood out was their rates, which we found to be affordable for Manchester. It starts at £20 per hour, a reasonable amount for such an effective learning environment, don’t you think?

As an Ofsted-registered tutoring service in Manchester, Chorlton Tuition Centre is sure to provide an after-school learning activity that only meets rigorous standards. But also, parents can claim childcare assistance due to this.
As far as the maths tutoring goes, we can confidently say we’re pleased with what we’ve seen. Here, lessons run for 80 minutes weekly, split into smaller sections, allowing the learner to have better focus.
Additionally, every maths tutoring session is held at the centre, which eliminates distractions a student will normally have at home. The thing is, there are no online sessions to add better flexibility.
It’s not that big of an issue, anyhow. The qualified tutors still manage to make the session engaging through activities. The improvements we’ve seen have been outstanding, particularly in struggling students.
They’re quite an investment, to be honest. They charge the average in Manchester, starting at £36 per session, which is a good deal when you factor in the massive improvement their students have shown.
Very attentive and adapts well to the individual level of each child
“I am very happy with Chorlton tuition center. Mr. Graems is very attentive and adapt well to the individual level of each child. What I appreciate most is that they not only help the children academically, but also teach them how to organise their work and structure their learning. They encourage independence and help the children become more confident and self-reliant in their studies. My child enjoys attending and has made great progress. I would happily recommend this tuition center to other parents.”

When we’re talking about maths (and English, in some cases), Kumon is one of the tutoring centres that comes to mind. It has been around for a very long time, since 1983 in the UK.
It’s the self-paced learning that we like, as it fosters confidence in maths. The whole approach encourages attentiveness and concentration in every learner, which is rather helpful in school.
Kids as young as 5 and below can enrol, as well as 12-year-olds and above. The structured program is quite brilliant, which manages to cover counting to calculus—that’s quite a range, no?
Just don’t expect homework help or test preparation, since kids will study worksheets independently. The learning flow remains consistent, though, as learners bring home worksheets they can answer for just 30 minutes or so.
The kids we’ve seen have shown increased skills, too. Sure, they’re not the cheapest maths tutor in Manchester, with a £40 registration fee and £75 per subject, but the fast mental calculation skills students have developed are worth every pence.
I couldn’t be happier with their progress over the past year
“My son and daughter both attend Kumon at Trafford, and I couldn’t be happier with their progress over the past year. They have learned so much and grown in confidence, and the improvement has been amazing to see. I’m extremely impressed and very grateful to the tutors for their dedication, support, and encouragement. Highly recommended!”
