Take a Sip of Manchester’s Best Negronis in These 8 Bars

If there’s one thing any Mancunian can agree on, it’s this: the city doesn’t stop even at night! Or the hangovers, for that matter, as I can personally attest to after one too many drinks of some of the finest Negronis you can find on this end of the globe.

You’ve read that right, the Manc’s got its own share of different wicked Negronis that might introduce your taste buds to some new flavour combinations you haven’t tasted before! And the best part? You can find them in all kinds of bars!

So we searched high and low through the streets and roofs of the city, danced our way through bars with a raving crowd, stayed up late into the night, and even uncovered some city secrets. All for our quest to find Manchester’s best Negronis–and here’s what we found!

Just around the corner of the loud and colourful Quay Street, you will find an equally bold, Art Deco-style entrance. Step past the vibrant red and green door and right into Tusk, a genuinely lively and convivial bar filled with loud music and friendly (if slightly tipsy) regulars.

Here, you can find all kinds of Negroni variations that add an interesting twist alongside their usual mix of some sweet Asterley Bros. Estate Vermouth, Tanqueray Nº TEN, and not-too-bitter Campari.

Perhaps you fancy a Coffee Negroni with its bittersweet amaro and coffee liquor? Or maybe you’d prefer the sweet-and-sour punch of a Rhubarb Negroni that features vodka? There are all sorts of experimental Negronis for you to try right here!

Contrasting Manchester’s bustling streets, this sultry and sophisticated bar is where you can slow down your pace a bit. Sit down to drink beneath some dim lighting that can offer some peace and quiet, leaving you to take pause and simply decompress for a while.

Every Thursday, they serve up their own take on Negronis, and it’s quite the treat for those who prefer a sour edge to their cocktails. Their Negronis are made with some blended blackberries that add a delightfully sour taste to the drink.

Finish that off with a hint of vanilla, and the whole drink is perfectly rounded. It’s the perfect companion to a classy evening out, perfectly complementing the quiet atmosphere.

Pro tip
While walk-ins are available, we highly recommend booking beforehand instead, since it can fill up fairly quickly.

Don’t let the name fool you, or maybe do let it, as this is a speakeasy! Beyond the simple red-brick exterior of the Cane & Grain laboratory (where many drinks are a-brewing), you’ll find the stylish Science & Industry bar.

Now, you won’t mind being a guinea pig, will you? Because the bartenders here are constantly experimenting with all kinds of combinations, like their famous International Klein Blue Pantone 286 C!

This genius creation mixes a White Negroni with Olive Oil Fat Washed Portobello 171 Gin, Sweet Vermouth, Italicus Aperitif, Suze, and even some saline solution.

Bring some friends over here during a night out in Manchester, you can chit-chat over some loud music while challenging them to expand their cocktail palate! Plus, it’s also the perfect atmosphere for some drinking games and general mischief.

Pro tip
For budgeters, make sure to visit on a Monday. That’s when you can grab a snack with your Negroni because the entire food menu is half-price!

Here in Henry C, you can feel right at home in this café-bar hybrid filled with soft lights, a chic yet casual interior, and of course, Thursday and Sunday treats! Beyond the drinks, it genuinely evokes those days spent studying for uni or catching up with your mum.

For their Negronis, you can expect a particularly fruity hint with their choice of ingredients. That’s because a lot of their Negroni variants incorporate different fruits into their flavours.

You can grab a taste of citrusy grapefruit with their spritz-style Spaghetti, or maybe you can try their Classic Cocktail if you’re looking for something more apple-y. Whichever fruit you desire, you just might find a Negroni for it here!

Pro tip
Take care not to over-order when you’re here! They don’t have any options for take-out, so you’ll have to finish what you ordered!

Blinker Bar is one of the more “chill” and casual spots you can find around Manchester. It’s the kind of place where you’ll feel perfectly comfortable the moment you step inside—no pretension required.

It’s also an ideal stop if you’re looking to get a quick sip of Negroni! Their Negronis are intentionally served in a smaller glass, but that’s not the only thing notable about them: they’re mixed without adding any Campari—a rather bold choice!

If you’re a more open-minded cocktail enthusiast who doesn’t mind drinking a more controversial Negroni (at least according to Negroni purists out there), then do pop down here. It’s a good spot to include when you’re going on a pub crawl, especially with fellow cocktail enthusiasts!

Pro tip
They don’t take any pre-bookings, so you’ll need to be quick when grabbing a table here, especially during their special events or promos!

Search around for a fusion-styled bar long enough, and you might stumble upon this trendy Iranian-Indian bar that also doubles as a café! You can get a vintage feel once you step inside, and their drinks are no exception.

Their special Premier Padmini Negroni is a tribute to the 1953 car model, the Italian Fiat 110, which ended up becoming the Bombay Taxi.

The Negroni’s Campari, vermouth, and London Dry Gin are mixed to create this reddish-brown colour. Topped off with a piece of chocolate, plus infused with Indian cacao and sweet pears, it’s one of the more unique Negronis we’ve come across.

Pro tip
Try to get there before 6 PM, since that’s usually when peak hour starts, and the queue can be quite long at that point. Queue times around peak hour can extend from thirty minutes to an hour.

Tucked in a corner of King’s Street, you’ll find Arcane, a Victorian-style bar. Step inside and order yourself a White Peach Negroni. This one’s no joke, because they can make it fit whichever season it is while still having that sweet, slightly bitter taste.

Summer’s out? They can make a White Peach Negroni that’ll cool you down just right. Winter’s coming? Then it’s a White Peach Negroni that’ll give you a warm glow!

Pro tip
Consider getting a Loyalty Card, which gives you an exclusive digital wallet for Arcane. Sign up’s free and you can get discounts and offers!

At first glance, Red Light looks like something straight out of a gritty movie set—exposed brickwork in the walls, dark decor and the occasional blast of harsh white light. Even their Negroni seems to follow the mood with its rather strong flavours.

The standard mix features Cocchi di Torino for the vermouth, but their variants add an extra kick to each sip. The Fizzy Negroni, for example, packs a walloping taste of citrus and soda mixed with the usual ingredients.

A Negroni this bold is perfectly suited to this bar’s character, making it the ideal place for a moody late-night session or a punchy afterparty cocktail.

Pro tip
Visit here on a Wednesday to get a Negroni or any other classic drink for as low as £7. And if you’re going with someone, then the Wednesday deals still apply, since it also means that you can get two Negronis for £14 in total!
