Contrary to popular belief, cats need to be groomed! Though our feline friends are self-grooming, regular baths, brushing, and nail trims are beneficial. It’s also the perfect time to check for parasites and skin issues

But, as you might have already known, it can be a real pain trying to get the task done ourselves. Raise your hand if your arms turned out to be a scratch pad and your cat looked more of a tangled mess than usual (plus more snobbiness that you’ll have to woo with treats!).

So, to help out our fellow cat parents, we searched high and low for the shops with top-notch cat grooming services in Manchester. After we made sure that they give kitties the luxurious treatment they deserve, we can safely say that you won’t go wrong with them!

When it comes to Louise The Cat Groomer, we appreciate that they have a wide range of services to keep their furry clients neat! We especially loved that they offered both partial and full grooming for cats.

Another plus for us was the fact that their services go beyond fur care, since they also do claw maintenance, ear cleaning, and face cleaning! It was also reassuring to know that they can handle cats of different ages, including senior cats or kittens.

But we were bummed out to learn that they didn’t offer any flea removal services, even charging extra if they found out that a cat they were grooming had fleas!

We also wished that the listed prices on their website were set prices, as it was annoying having to pay a higher price than what was initially expected.

Finally, we hope that they could add a mobile grooming station, which would make things more convenient for busy cat parents!

Pros

  • Wide range of services
  • Has mat prevention/trimming
  • Can handle special needs cats
  • Can handle elderly cats and kittens
  • Can handle grumpy cats
  • No sedation used in the grooming process

Cons

  • Prices can be subject to change
  • No flea/tick removal
  • No mobile grooming station

First rate job for our 1 year old ragdoll

“Our ragdoll had had a [poor] start to life so we had worried about her first grooming session at 1 year old. Louise however was wonderful with her and did a first rate job with a kind and caring manner. She had great knowledge and our ragdoll felt and smelt so lovely after her session. Already booked her next visit . Thank you so much.”

Pampered and trimmed

“I was quite nervous taking Nala to Louise  as she doesn’t like being handled and had never been groomed before. Louise spent time with us prior to starting and we had a chat about Nala and her anxieties,  however I [didn’t] need to worry as when I returned, Nala was so relaxed in her carrier, looking beautifully [de-shedded] and trimmed. Nala has been relaxed and asleep since we got home so I think she loved her little pamper session. Thank you Louise and see you at our next session 🥰”

What we liked most about Cat Paws Pet Grooming’s services was how thorough they were with trimming, washing, and brushing. Every part of the cat’s hygiene was accounted for, whether it was for the fur, paws, claws, or even the eyes and ears.

We were even more impressed to find out that there was an option for a “Meet and Treat”, which is essentially a pre-grooming consultation. Another thing that impressed us was the fact that they offer a full 1-2-1 grooming, so a cat could be given full attention in a session.

We’re just iffy about their use of restraints for grooming and the fact that they place cats in cages afterwards. Even if they did mention that they do their best to keep the cats calm, the restraints and cages can end up causing some stress.

Also, while they are willing to handle cats in heat, the same cannot be said for pregnant cats. They’ll turn down a grooming session if the cat is currently pregnant, which can be annoying.

Pros

  • Wide range of services
  • Has 1-2-1 pet grooming
  • Offers consultation
  • Can handle cats in heat
  • Can handle elderly cats and kittens
  • Has matt-prevention cutting/trimming

Cons

  • No flea/tick removal
  • No pregnant cat grooming
  • Uses restraints
  • Uses cages

Lovely and very friendly staff

“Got my cats nails trimmed. It was very cheap compared to most. Staff were absolutely lovely and very friendly. The shop smelled beautiful too.”

Well cared for cats

“My Ragdoll cat Tinkerbell looks absolutely beautiful after her groom with Sammy. It is easy to see Sammy loves animals and my cat was well cared for and is now completely knot free. The prices are very reasonable too. We will be returning for Tink’s Summer groom :)”

Groomed to Purrfection’s got an extensive list of services for cleaning or cutting cats’ fur. We especially liked the fact that they have different kinds of cuts and trims suitable for both full and partial grooming, and the fact that they offer different kinds of baths.

It was also another plus for us that they would give consultations beforehand, so furparents will know just what is needed for their cats! Plus, they also offer grooming services for nails, ears, and eyes.

Overall, we appreciated the great care they put into making sure the cats they work with are taken care of. They also don’t use restraints while grooming, so cats won’t be distressed during the process!

We also liked the convenience that they have both a mobile grooming station and in-salon grooming. With thee, they’ll be relatively easy to find and pre-book a session with!

The only downside to availing their services is that they don’t accept any walk-ins, so furparents would have to book a session beforehand. That, and the fact that their prices are subject to change.

If they could only add flea or tick removal services, everything would be absolutely smashing.

Pros

  • Wide range of services
  • Can handle elderly cats
  • No harsh restraints
  • Has both mobile and in-salon grooming
  • Has in-home visits

Cons

  • No flea/tick removal
  • No walk-ins; appointment only
  • Prices can be subject to change

Recommended even for matting

“We were very nervous to take our boy in for grooming as he had some matting. As soon as we got there Damian put us both at ease and explained exactly what he would be doing. He even showed me his own cats to show how much he loves them. When I picked Marv back up, he was not distressed in any way as we had expected him to be and was told he was a very good boy! I would 100% recommend these lovely people for your cats!”

Fantastic and cat at ease

“Absolutely fantastic. They were so good with Raven. I thought it might [be] a spicy level 5 but they were great putting Raven at ease. Would definitely recommend. I will never take my fur baby [anywhere] else”

Lucy’s Grooming is led by a team of experienced and gentle cat groomers who know their cats like cats know the back of their paws! Their services and consultations can cover a lot of concerns that many fur parents would have with their cats.

That includes services like getting the knots or tangles out of fur, giving a cat a nice and thorough bath, wiping out dirt on the body, brushing the fur, and all sorts of cuts and trims. It was a huge plus to see that they cover many different kinds of cat care!

We also appreciate that their booking appointments are flexible, so even if something comes up, customers can reschedule 48 hours before the appointment. They’ll even refund the deposit fee!

That said, it was annoying to learn that the prices listed for their services are subject to change. They’ll also charge extra if a cat’s fur is severely matted!

We were also disappointed to learn that they’re unavailable on the weekends. And even though they have a wide variety of services, they don’t have any flea treatments.

On the bright side, they offer their services in three different settings: in their salon, in a mobile salon, and even in your house—still a plus for convenience!

Pros

  • Wide range of services
  • Can handle elderly cats and kittens
  • Has both mobile and in-salon grooming
  • Has in-home visits

Cons

  • Additional fees for matted fur
  • Prices can be subject to change
  • No flea baths/treatment
  • Unavailable on weekends

Professionally loved, pampered, and cared for

“If you want your cat loved, pampered, and cared for by a professional and  wonderful person, Lucy’s Grooming is the place to go! I can not express how much Maz took care of my baby and loved her. My cat was a 20 Yr old lady, and not happy about leaving the house, nevermind going to be groomed. Maz loved her, was patient, and pampered her like [a] queen. Thank you for everything ❤️”

Amazing experience

“I had an amazing experience at Lucy’s Grooming…As someone who is super picky, I can confidently say this was the first place where both my cat and I felt completely at ease. The environment was spotless, professional, and incredibly welcoming. My cat was so relaxed and happy after the grooming session, and the attention to detail was outstanding. Thank you, Lucy’s Grooming, for such a fantastic service—I’ll definitely be coming back🩵”

If there’s one thing we loved about Tamed Tails, aside from being open every day, they have cats looking fresh and healthy after one of their grooming sessions!

Tamed Tails offers different kinds of fur care services, such as trimming, shaving, brushing, washing, and shampooing. The fact that they also offer de-matting or mat prevention services and claw maintenance was another bonus in their favour!

We also appreciated that cat safety and wellbeing are very important to them, taking it a step further by collaborating with vets whenever they felt it was needed!

We’re just iffy about the fact they’re a purely mobile grooming service, so there’ll be no in-salon grooming sessions with them! Also, while their services account for cat safety, they are rather limited.

Overall, we’re happy that they put lots of consideration into the health and status of the cats they work with, we just wished that they offered more.

Pros

  • Thoroughly checks the cat’s health
  • Clear communication with owners
  • Available everyday

Cons

  • No in-salon grooming
  • Limited range of services

Comfortable and tidy

“Lauren did an excellent job of grooming my large Maine Coon, Icarus. Since moving from London, we’d had trouble finding a groomer, so Icarus’ belly was in a pretty bad state with some very large matts. Icarus can be quite reactive, but Lauren was able to remove all of the worst of the matting, get him comfortable again and did a very clean and tidy job given the circumstances. Most importantly, Lauren knew when to stop, give Icarus breaks and build trust – to make sure that when she comes back and his coat is in a better condition, we’ll be able to make more progress.”

Morgan Howson, Google Review

Great care

“Lauren came to my house to do a claw trim for my cat Poppy. Lauren was great and really good with Poppy as she was very nervous. The claws were trimmed with real care. Very grateful to Lauren and highly recommend her. I’ll definitely be booking in for future trims. Thanks :-)”
