You can’t help but admire what Acacia Lodge Care Home does—they dig into residents’ life stories, turning memories into the heart of their dementia care, celebrating personalities rather than just managing symptoms.
Then there are the bedrooms that look far from clinical; spacious, with walk-in showers and flatscreen TVs.. We also love how residents can add their personal touch with keepsakes and photos.
Now, let’s talk about the Buttercup Café. Overlooking an enclosed rear garden, it’s where residents (and their visitors) catch up, swap stories, and share moments of togetherness and we’ve heard it’s a favourite for those with a green thumb—or even a green pinky.
Families are always welcome here, too, thanks to the open-door policy. Knowing you’re not just dropping a loved one off but staying connected as part of the community is a lovely reassurance.
That said, we’ll admit its location right by the A663 Broadway Road, which means it can get a bit noisy sometimes. But once you step inside, the calm atmosphere and thoughtfully designed spaces quickly drown out the hum of passing traffic.
Lovely!

Something about a stroll in Brookdale Park makes you feel at ease, and Brookdale View Care Home seems to bottle up that same warmth.
Residents are often spotted tending to plants in the garden or chatting with their families while enjoying the fresh air. It’s the spot where you’d expect to hear laughter over a cup of tea—or perhaps a debate about the flowers to plant for spring.
And let’s talk about the bedrooms: bright, wheelchair-accessible, and completely customisable. We think it’s impressive that residents can bring their favourite armchairs or little trinkets to make the space their own—the kind of touch turns “a room” into “their room.”
Mealtimes feel more like family dinners, and everyone is encouraged to pitch in with ideas for activities.
If we’re being honest, the proximity to Brookdale Park is both a plus and a slight quirk. While the lush greenery is fantastic for peace, the odd boisterous picnic group in the summer might add some extra background noise.

With room for just 24 residents, Auden House is the kind of place where a friendly face greets you by name—and might even have your tea just how you like it waiting.
Honestly, the way they actively involve everyone—residents, families, even the occasional visiting friend—makes it feel like a community effort rather than a one-sided operation.
Safety? Auden House has it covered without feeling overbearing. The 24-hour CCTV in public areas ensures peace of mind, but there are no cameras where they’re not needed—like private rooms or bathrooms.
When it comes to food, there’s plenty of variety, and the kitchen team is always ready to accommodate specific dietary needs. We reckon the Clean Food Award wasn’t handed out lightly—it’s clear that food here is as much about care as it is about flavour.
Sure, it’s a non-smoking home, so if you’re looking for a cigarette break, you’ll have to pop outside. But for everything else? It’s hard to fault.
Compassionate
“Friendly and compassionate staff have been caring for my Gran for close to 2 years now.”

When it comes to Bridgewater Manor Care Centre, we’re not just talking about care; we’re talking about care with a side of luxury.
We have to say, the en-suite rooms are a real standout. Spacious and purpose-built, each one feels more like a boutique hotel suite than a typical care facility.
The on-site amenities at Bridgewater Manor are just as impressive. A hairdresser and nail bar? Yes, you read that right. We can already picture someone emerging from the nail bar, fresh manicure in hand, looking like they just stepped off a cruise ship rather than out of a care home.
We’re also fans of its location. For starters, it’s just a stone’s throw from Walkden train station and the M60, so visiting couldn’t be easier. The home itself sits near the picturesque Bridgewater Canal, a perfect spot for a leisurely barge trip.
We’ve noticed that the popularity of this care centre means it’s always bustling. While that’s great for a lively atmosphere, it’s worth booking visits ahead of time to avoid the crowds.
Beautiful!
“Beautiful care home. The staff really care about the wellbeing of the residents and the range of activities for residents is really good.”
-Reagan Fletcher, Google Review

“Staff from all departments always welcome you with a smile and a friendly face, the care and attention your loved one receives is second to non.”

You know that feeling when you walk into a boutique hotel and think, I could happily live here? That’s exactly the vibe at Ashlands Manor Care Centre. Tucked away in Ashton-on-Mersey, this 57-bed home combines modern comforts with expert care.
We were immediately drawn to the facility’s interior design. It’s a far cry from the clinical vibes some care homes give off. Each bedroom comes with an en-suite wet room, which we think is a great touch for comfort and privacy.
The location is another win. Ashton-on-Mersey is a charming village, and Ashlands Manor makes the most of it. Walks to Worthington Park are practically a daily ritual, and let’s be honest—who wouldn’t enjoy a stroll through its tree-lined paths?
If there’s one thing we’d say to families visiting Ashlands Manor, it’s to plan for those walks in the park. Sale is a popular spot, so weekends might mean a few extra people around, but hey—what’s life without a bit of hustle and bustle?
Amazing!
“Amazing place , I’m looking for a place for a family member I couldn’t fault the place great for family to visit”
-Steve Card, Google Review
Immaculate
