Pros

  • Cosy interiors
  • Wide menu selection
  • Convenient location
  • Accommodating staff members

Cons

  • Expensive menu
  • Closes early

Number Ten Coffee Shop & Bistro stood out to us and they have been a local fixture since 1977 — making them the oldest cafe in Bury.

From the moment we walked through their doors, we couldn’t help but be charmed by their cosy interiors. This offered us a perfect spot for a catch-up over food and drinks.

Their menu certainly holds its own. Whether you’re after a hearty breakfast or a light nibble, we like that they cover the classics from English breakfast to mouthwatering paninis.

When it comes to drinks, we like that they also boast a selection to suit all tastes —  from traditional teas and coffees to trendy cold brews.

Sadly, we think that indulging here can put a bit of a dent in your wallet. An average bill here ranges between £20 to £30 which is a bit higher compared to other cafes in the same location.

Although, if you ask us, we think that they’re steep cost is justified since they serve big portions.

Furthermore, they are conveniently nestled within the shopping centre, so reaching them is as easy as pie. Sadly, we noted that their operating hours are a bit short since they close earlier compared to other establishments in the area.

Pros

  • Welcoming staff members
  • Cosy and clean interiors
  • Inclusive selection
  • Affordable menu

Cons

  • Occasional issues with food quality

Leckenbys is a cosy licensed tea room that’s been a local favourite since 1997. When we stepped in, we weren’t surprised to see a lot of people there thanks to their bright and clean interiors.

With this, they create the perfect setting for a relaxed dining experience, which we absolutely love!

And despite their elegant ambience, we’re pleased that they keep their prices pleasantly reasonable. An average bill here is between £10 to £20 only which allows guests to enjoy a satisfying meal without breaking the bank.

As for the food, we couldn’t resist trying their cheesy crumpets with red onion marmalade and a comforting jacket potato — both of which hit the spot perfectly.

What’s more, we noted that they cater to everyone’s dietary needs. They have separate menus for kids and a variety of options for vegetarians, vegans, and those with gluten sensitivities.

They also have a drink for every occasion, with options ranging from steaming cups of tea to chilled beverages. and even some alcoholic treats such as wine, prosecco, and beers.

Sadly, there have been some issues about food freshness from other customers when we conducted a survey. But our own experience left us more than satisfied with the overall quality of the meal.

Pros

  • Accessible location
  • Delicious offerings
  • Affordable menu
  • Friendly staff members

Cons

  • Limited to breakfast options
  • Closed during weekends

The Welly Community Cafe is located within the Manchester Road Park. They stood out to us as they’re a project of Bury Employment Support and Training to provide opportunities for residents near the area.

They’re also renowned for their muffins, so we couldn’t resist popping in for a taste — let’s just say, they lived up to the hype.

Beyond their muffins, we learned that they also offer an array of other delights, from comforting toasties to decadent cakes and bars.

When it comes to their thirst quenchers t, we like that they’ve got customers covered with all the basics: steaming cups of coffee, soothing teas, indulgent hot chocolate, and more.

Sadly, while their menu may offer a lot of breakfast options, we did find ourselves wishing for a bit more variety, like light snacks which are commonly offered by other cafes in the area.

Nevertheless, they’re very affordable. In fact, we think that they are the perfect budget cafe as the bill here averages at £10 only.

Just keep in mind that they are only operational during the weekdays, which can be limiting for some.

All things considered, we’ll be returning here thanks to their delicious muffins, pleasant staff members, and affordability.

Pros

  • Accessible location
  • Outdoor seating
  • Affordable menu

Cons

  • Closed in Sundays
  • Some reports of slow serving time

Bury Town Cafe is nestled right in the heart of Mill Gate Shopping Centre, which made it easy for us to locate their establishment.

Their Sunday closure may be limiting for other potential customers. However, we can’t help but appreciate their early opening and late closing which provides a wide window to drop by.

They also have outdoor seating which gives patrons the choice to soak up the sunshine while enjoying their food and drinks.

We opted for classics like cheese toasties and a hearty full English breakfast. However, they also have other options like fish and chips as well as burgers.

Additionally, we were pleasantly surprised by the swift service and the quality of our meals that come in big portions.

We also appreciate their polite staff members who checked in on us every now and then if we needed anything.

However, not everyone seems to share our enthusiasm. Based on our surveys, there’s some discontent regarding longer-than-desired wait times, with some patrons reporting delays of up to 35 minutes.

Despite these occasional setbacks, we believe they’re still well worth a visit – especially when you factor in their wallet-friendly prices, with an average bill coming in at just £10.

Pros

  • Accessible location
  • Affordable and inclusive menu
  • Polite staff members

Cons

  • Closes early

Ground Up Coffee Shop is located just a stone’s throw away from Bury Interchange. For us, this makes them a perfect spot for those who are looking for a quick bite while on their way to work or school.

We also appreciate that their doors open bright and early at 8:30 am every day — allowing us to swing by before the rush hour hits. Although it’s worth noting they close earlier than other cafes at 3:30 pm.

Another thing that sets them apart is their wallet-friendly menu, with an average bill hovering around a mere £10.

But let’s talk coffee—the true star of the show here. From the bold kick of espresso to the creamy perfection of a flat white, we’re sure that this place has your caffeine fix covered.

We must give them plus points, though, for also catering to those who prefer a more decadent hot chocolate or a comforting cup of tea.

When it comes to nibbles, we couldn’t resist indulging in their tempting array of cakes, and let’s just say, they didn’t disappoint. Along with this, they also offer a selection of croissants, toast, and vegan options.

All things considered, we will be a regular here thanks to their affordability as well as their wide selection of food and drinks.
