Pros
- Accessible location
- Wide range of menu
Cons
- Inconsistent quality of food
Located at Fallowfield, the Simply Sandwich Bar is a favourite destination for individuals who are looking for a quick grab. We like that they are strategically located so that customers will have no issues locating their shop.
In fact, if you take the train to Lindleywood Road, you will be seven minutes away by foot from the sandwich shop. As for those who want to bring their own car, we are happy to share that the traffic in the area is tolerable.
Aside from their location, this place is a hotspot because of their wide range of menu. Aside from sandwiches, they also have paninis, jackets, potatoes, smoothies, milkshakes, and more.
With this in mind, we believe that they will be suitable for families and friends — as there is something for everyone here.
Despite their many offerings, there is no doubt that the star of the show is their sandwiches. According to satisfied customers, the sandwiches here are fresh and tasty.
From our surveys, the only drawback we found is that there are inconsistencies with the quality of their food. We found that there were customers who received sandwiches that were too salty or oily.
However, we noticed that most of the customers who complained about this ordered through third-party delivery services.
If you are particular about the taste of the sandwich, we think it may be best to drop by the shop yourself.

Pros
- Strategically located shops
- Good for students and office workers
- Accepts advanced delivery and pick-up order placement
Cons
- Has short operating hours
- Open only on weekdays
There are four Philpotts located in Manchester and all of them are strategically located so that customers can easily access snacks. However, the most popular branch is the one that is located on New York Street.
We believe that this is because the area is filled with many office workers and students. The sandwich shop is within walking distance away from work and study areas — which makes it even more convenient for their customers.
Aside from this, we also appreciate that there are comfortable tables and chairs in the area where one can take a break in the middle of a busy day.
As for those who do not have the time to go out, we like that they have partnerships with delivery mobile applications.
Much to our delight, there is also an option to book business meals before 1:00 pm and they will prepare your food for delivery or collection the following day.
When it comes to their sandwiches, regular customers are happy with their quality. Some mentioned that they serve the best sandwiches for their price point, which is £4.85 for a sandwich platter.
The only downside is that they close early at 3:00 pm, which is too early, if you ask us. Furthermore, they are also operational only during the weekdays – a bummer if you’re craving their sandwiches on a weekend.

Pros
- Located near residential and work areas
- Serves good sandwiches, pastries, and cakes
- Has good customer service
- Offers click-and-collect service
Cons
- Does not have an in-house delivery system
Martins Bakers and Sandwich Makers is a well-loved sandwich shop in Manchester. In fact, it’s so popular, it has over 15 branches all over the city!
We believe that their offerings have become a staple to locals because their branches are located where people can drop by for a quick meal. Notably, the most popular branch is the one located on Old Church Street.
It’s worth noting that the area is filled with many residential properties like apartments and condos. Because of its convenient location, many residents drop by for breakfast or brunch before starting their day.
On top of this, there are also office spaces nearby and workers come to the shop during their lunch or coffee breaks.
When we spoke to the regulars, they mentioned that the specialty bread makes the sandwiches special. This did not surprise us much as they also serve pastries and cakes here — which were also pleasing to the taste of the customers.
Aside from their commendable food, another thing that keeps us positive about Martins Bakers and Sandwich Makers is their customer service. Many customers we spoke with mentioned that the staff members are friendly and helpful.
However, we were a bit letdown when we learned that they do not have in-house delivery options. Instead, they have a click-and-collect service for a minimum of £10.

Pros
- Takes food restrictions seriously
- Has accommodating staff members
- Serves good coffee and sandwiches
Cons
- Has limited branches
The Secret Sandwich is one of the most inclusive sandwich shops in the area. We are happy to learn that they cater to food restrictions since they have gluten-free and vegetarian options on their menu.
On top of this, the staff here are also attentive when it comes to special requests for food. We appreciate their patience and helpfulness when customising each order to their customers’ tastes.
But, we noted that The Secret Sandwich is most popular for their drinks since they are a known local independent coffee house. Most of their customers drop by to enjoy the cosy ambience of their space while drinking hot beverages.
Others simply order takeaway through their mobile application. We also like that there are many other features available in the app, such as exclusive promotions and loyalty points tracking.
As for the costs, a breakfast here would cost between £1 to £10. We think this is an affordable price range, considering that their regulars have nothing but positive things to say about the quality and taste of their food — particularly their sandwiches.
We also appreciate that they are open everyday. This is great for customers who want to drop by and relax over a good meal during the weekend.
We just wish that they would open more branches as there is only one right now. Those who live far from Crumpsall may have a hard time visiting them.

Pros

- Has an accessible location
- Good for quick meals
Cons
- Does not have an in-house delivery service
Fatso’s is a popular sandwich store in the country. In fact, they have several branches across the UK, where they serve a wide variety of dishes.
Their establishment in Manchester is situated at Halle Mall in The Arndale Centre — which is one of the most loved shopping centres in the area. With this, we can say that they are definitely accessible and easy to find.
We were surprised to learn that they are North East’s largest independent sandwich retailer. On top of this, they have also been operational since 2003.
Truly, Fatso’s is a tried-and-tested sandwich shop. Based on our research, that reflects on the quality of their food.
According to the regulars we spoke with, this place serves top-notch dishes! They also mentioned that Fatso’s is perfect for those who are looking for a quick meal in the middle of shopping.
Looking at their menu, we noted that it is filled with easy-to-eat combinations like sandwiches, salads, soups, jackets, and similar dishes. With these options we could not agree more about the convenience of their food!
However, we hope that they would consider having an in-house delivery service in the future. For now, the only way to enjoy their food is to drop by the store yourself or have someone pick up your order through third-party mobile apps.
