Pros

  • Top-notch food quality
  • Vegetarian Friendly, Gluten Free Options
  • Clean and well-kept establishment

Cons

  • Reservation based only
  • Expensive

The first Michelin-starred restaurant in Manchester since 1977, Mana, is the talk of the town for all the right reasons.

Given that chef-patron Simon Martin has worked hard to create cutting-edge cuisine, it’s the perfect place for a special occasion dinner. We adore how it showcases the finest British ingredients in its menu offerings.

However, one of the things that most impressed us is how hyper-seasonal they are. As a result, their menu is always changing to reflect what is in season and fresh.

That said, we think that this ever-changing menu can be both a pro and con.

We adore the fact that meals sourced from the land, the sea, and other natural environments will likely introduce you to novel flavours and food combinations.

On the other hand, it can deter some who don’t like what’s on the menu for a particular season. Also, Mana’s menu isn’t available online, solidifying our thoughts on why the ever-changing menu can be a downside too.

Another thing customers should know is that, given this restaurant’s Michelin star status, their pricing can be pretty expensive. Also, they only accept advanced reservations for their opening times.

In conclusion, we think Mana is not the first choice for random weekend suppers. Still, if you have a special event coming up, few places can compare to their ambiance and overall quality.

Pros

  • Wide array of offerings
  • Great customer service
  • Clean interiors

Cons

  • Expensive dishes
  • Usually crowded during peak hours

Tattu is a business that two brothers founded in 2015 as a family business. We thought it was intriguing that it began with a clear objective of bringing something new and original to the UK food scene.

Their atmosphere understandably impressed us. With their posh interiors, you can tell you’re getting something special!

Additionally, their posh interiors and ambiance aren’t the only things that makes them one of our favourite places. We also have to mention their food quality, which is highly praised by their customers.

Furthermore, their staff are well-trained to provide the best service to make your dining experience enjoyable.

As for their pricing, our expectations are higher since they’re a fine-dining restaurant. For instance, their single-order dim sum costs between £10.80 and £13.50 is surprisingly steep.

But their portions are rather hefty, so we think they’re pretty much worth your money.

That said, we do have to mention a downside to them is that their peak hours can also be rather congested at this location. That said, it’s best to secure a reservation beforehand to make sure you don’t wait too long to get seated.

For a lavish dinner to dazzle your guests or a quick takeaway to sate your need for dim sum, we believe that Tattu is an excellent option for that.

Pros

  • Amazing range of cocktails
  • Amazing food quality
  • Staff and Management are very friendly and welcoming

Cons

  • Expensive range of prices
  • Dress code is required

Cloud 23 got its name from its location on the 23rd story of the Beetham Tower. It’s also Manchester’s highest bar, so you gotta keep your acrophobia in check if you’re dropping by!

We were impressed by how luxurious and high-class the establishment is. We have to give it to them for their warm yet contemporary interiors that make you feel like a VIP.

It’s no surprise that they also serve drinks that are unavailable elsewhere in Manchester.  Their unique beverage selection, which is inspired by Greek gods, are a nice touch to the whole experience.

Some of their crowd favourites are Zeus, which is a mix of citrus notes and aromatic bitters, complemented by complex layers of flavour.

For those who want fruity notes, we suggest trying Eros, a drink that’s infused with juicy, fruity flavours and a touch of sweetness.

We believe the higher price is still reasonable given the luxurious setting the restaurant can be in terms of the ambiance, food, and drinks.

Another thing we noticed was how well-versed in menu knowledge all of their service personnel were. Additionally, if you’re a newcomer, they offer helpful recommendations.

On the other hand, what we’re a bit iffy about is their reservation process.

From what we’ve seen, their popularity coupled with their reservation-only setup would mean that customers will have to wait for the next available slot which can take months.

We found this feature to be quite disappointing because the restricted availability of schedules may be a deterrent to some.

Finally, a strict dress code is required prior to entrance in Cloud 23. We think that this is to maintain its upscale image. Otherwise, you may be denied admittance even if you have a reservation.

4. Peter Street Kitchen

Pros

  • Excellent customer service
  • Great food quality
  • Clean and sophisticated interiors

Cons

  • Has corkage fees
  • Small food portions

High-end Mexican and Japanese sharing plates are served at Peter Street Kitchen, a restaurant housed in a public hall from the 19th century.

The interior of the building where Peter Street Kitchen is located is just as impressive as its outside.

At first glance, it’s bright, cosy, and always appealing, with a touch of luxurious minimalism. We love that these simple yet elegant interiors are distinct from the overall vibe of the fine dining experience.

As for their menu offerings, we’re impressed that they offer Japanese and Mexican fusion, which is not something you see every day.

Visitors might be surprised to find meals like Wagyu beef, sushi, paprika ribs, and fish tartare at this upscale restaurant. In which, they’re able to pull off seamlessly.

In addition to those options, Peter Street Kitchen also offers a breakfast experience, which is a crowd favourite, according to our surveys.

What also impressed us was their six-course tasting menu called “Hibachi Experience,” where they use an iron griddle to cook the food right in fron of you. They also have this for vegetarians, which we think is also notablel.

On the flip side, there are some notable downsides to them too. One of which is their smaller dish portions.

From what we’ve seen, their whole dining experience revolves around small portions with multiple courses, which makes this understandable.

Another thing we think customers should know is that they are strict when it comes to corkage fees.

Consequently, we believe the restaurant charges more when you bring in your own food because they want to ensure that the experience is up to par with their standards.

That said, this makes them an excellent choice for their overall fine dining experience.

Pros

  • Excellent food quality
  • Clean and well-kept establishment

Cons

  • Records of poor customer service
  • Long wait times

Grand Pacific is a restaurant serving international cuisine with luxurious interiors that draw influence from the period of adventure.

With inspiration from all around Asia, the elegant Grand Pacific, one of Manchester’s most sumptuous dining establishments, offers a modern twist on international cuisine.

From what we’ve seen, Grand Pacific serves various unique and excellent dishes, such as kimchi-topped steak and lamb massaman curry.

We loved their takes on Asian cuisine, from Korean hot plates to an Asian fusion burger that is surprisingly lavish. For us, this only solidified our positive impression on them.

In addition, Grand Pacific also offers a special High Tea that includes mouthwatering dishes like arancini, buttered lobster crumpets, tuna tartare, and more.

We love that this upscale establishment also offers afternoon tea for those who want the fine dining experience without the heavier dishes that’s offered.

Furthermore, they also offer sweets and desserts, including lemon tarts, chocolate truffles, scones, and macarons, which make for great desserts to tie into the whole dining experience.

On the downside, there are some factors that we should be transparent about. For one, there are multiple claims of poor customer service.

According to our surveys, most of these claims include slow service and rude staff. Another would be the long wait times before seating especially during peak hours.

Nonetheless, all of these cons can be isolated cases. However, we think it’s something to consider when dining with them.
